When there's rain the night before a race, it changes the condition of the track dramatically. So they have an early caution so that teams can adjust to how the "new" track is behaving.

Newman might sneak another win in like last year. His cars are better this year than last. Other than that, I completely agree with your analysis.
The Legend 30 Don't forget Suarez, he barely missed it too, by a slight bit of points less than Jones. I'm expecting a road course win from him sometime through. He can sneak through on points though if he doesn't get a win.

Dude it 38 at the most people went because of that. I know because i was there.
Considering the temperatures, it's not surprising. Stands were still around 70% full. Aside from Martinsville (since it was delayed until Monday) the stands at every race have been over 75% full and Daytona was sold out. Just about every major sport has the same thing going. Watched a baseball game last night and the stands were roughly 60% to 70% full. Plenty of empty seats to be seen. NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLS all have roughly the same situation going on. That's just how it is.
