Please consider including on the following: 1. How does the ETF value the underlying asset (Gold in this case) - E.g. how do we corelate price of 1 unit (approx 67 Rs per unit) to the underlying gold quantity 2. What is the purity split of physical gold i.e. is it 999 or 995 or any other? Is there any periodic asset disclosure by the fund house? 3. Is the Gold priced in USD or INR - if so how is the FX factored? 4. How much of a valuation risk would it be on an ETF i.e. market price vs book value (current value of Gold)
I think you missed one critical difference in expense ratio between Gold ETF vs. Gold Mutual Fund Since a Gold mutual fund invests in a Gold ETF, investors have to pay the expense ratio for both the AMC and ETF. For example HDFC Gold ETF - 0.59% HDFC Gold Fund Direct Plan - 0.18% By looking at this, one might think that HDFC Gold Fund has lower expense ratio, but the true expense ratio is 0.18% + 0.59% = 0.77%
Gold etfs f9r advance buyers, people have made laoss due to liquidity issues and wrong usage of buy and sell atteibutes in platforms, best form is physical gold from bank sbi coins etc..or gold mutual fund for large liquidity, For trading only gooldbees etfs nothing other than that..
Sir I’ve been watching your videos for the past 18 months. You’ve largely changed the makeup of both my portfolio as well my investment mindset. I’m a buy side professional so I thought if it’s not fundamental investment, it’s not investment. Not anymore. Today I have a portfolio of 2.5cr, out of which 60L is completely through a non-discretionary momentum based strategy, 50L is through index funds, and now about 10L is in gold ETFs. And I have to credit you for pushing us to buy gold. I’m 30yo so will likely keep adding gold ETFs until I reach the 15% mark. Thanks so much for your videos - these do have influence so keep at it. Also, sorry for being a little direct in my previous comment on your previous video in which I lamented about mic quality! :)
One point from this year onwards gold and Equity showing shift in pattern means both are growing So instead of hedging it is following same pattern Is it still worth ? I feel SIP in mutual fund can have continuous support in long run
Thanks , however various charges, insurance and taxes chip away at gains, leaving the invester with much smaller gains on redemption or sales, especially in possible emergencies. Only if gains are much higher than these taxes, charges and such costs apart from inflation adjustment by additional over say 10 % or more, gold may very well turn out to be a low return investment?
The only investment i have is physical gold and my PF account. 75 and 30 Lakh relatively. NPS 2.8L and I am 43. My annual income is 30L . Am I doing fine or am i going to miss the india story????
Hi Alok, can you recheck on the taxation part? To my understanding gold etfs bought after April 1, 2025 enjoy ltcg rate of 12.5%. Purchases before that attract tax at respective income slabs. Thanks
before watching alok ji YT videos my gold allocation was 0.5% after 2 yrs of following him its 9% right now. thesis is 10% of portfolio to gold as hedge to stocks
Sir, your take on debt +gold+ equity to hedge rather than just gold+ equity Please throw your insight on this Heard debt add stability but you never considered it in any of your video I need your valuable analysis
I have 50% allocation in Gold inspired by your videos. Now, the gold allocation moved up to 55% due to equity depreciation. Should I rebalance? If yes, when and how frequently?
It is easy to buy gold today when past returns are great. I am worried if I will have confidence to hold gold even after 5-7 years of no returns like we had between 2012 - 2020.
Sir can you give an example. Like if gold price is 6000 today What will the price to buy each of them for 1 gm And then if it increases to 7000, then depending on tax and everything, how much are we gaining if we go via each format, that will give better idea
ALOKJI....pls make one episode on gold vs silver returns historicallyand also from 1/1/2020 to till date and also which one is batter in inv and why......also how industrial use have both...i mean all on both metal....my request....as both have etf to invest.
Physical gold as an investment is a bad idea. No different than diamond as an investment. You go for selling in the market these two items, the sharks will smell blood, that is your financial distress and will offer you worst rates. Speaking from real world experience. If it's in form of ornaments then it's more about happiness of family, not investment.
Alok, can you do research on silver investment through mf.. for first time people bought more of silver than gold on dhanteras...and even agarwal of vedanta told silver would appreciate more than gold....so does make sense to invest in mf which have combinations of silver and gold or just silver...do check and have one video
If you want to grow your wealth buy Gold ETF... If you want to grow your relationship buy Gold Jewellery. Best option :- Spread financial awareness in your family....
Always buy gold ornament jewellery. Dont think too much about 10-15 percent making charges. That making charge is not more important than the happiness of your women in your life. Women love to wear gold. They cant wear digital gold if they want to attend any marriage or function. Purchasing gold for your women is considered auspicious and keeps your life happy and prosperous. You can make more money in stock market than digital gold as investment purpose. Decades of history suggests that.

When i compare buying price of gold, physical gold downsouth has always been the winner, always priced below digital or online purchase.
Thanks for watching
Thanks for watching
could not find any ETF with Expense ratio < 0.5 ( Zerodha at 0.3) whereas you mentioned starts at 0.6. can you pl check if data is correct at your end
I'm investing in Mirae Asset Gold ETF (GOLDETF) which has a expense ratio of 0.3%
@@shettynischith77 it's expense ratio is 0.34% as per data available
Thanks for the insight ! It appears like 70% etf and 30% physical gold pick as my personal choice

Hi Sir, any opinion on apps like Gullak doing gold leasing on digital gold.
when you say age/2 of net worth, do you consider only equity for the net worth calculation or u consider home, plot, FD etc also..
Everything
Very silly question but How are ETFs prices decided, if there are no sellers and many many buyers for etfs? Gold etf or index etfs?
It's adjusted based on Gold price by issuers

2.5Cr at 30 is commendable. Well done.
Is bulk of your portfolio built from salary or trading/ investment.
@ about 2/3rds of this is from salary accumulation, the rest is realised/unrealised gains
A word on Tatagold also where to get the equivalent quantity of physical gold of the different etf's. ETF'S LTCG WAS 36 m has this changed?
One point from this year onwards gold and Equity showing shift in pattern means both are growing
So instead of hedging it is following same pattern
Is it still worth ?
I feel SIP in mutual fund can have continuous support in long run
Yes worth
Please make a video on following. Is it prudent to buy silver when you have gold already? What is the pro and cons of it?
Sorry. Don't like silver
SIR what about SGB why it is being omitted
Sir why has gold falling? Dollar index is up and correction in gold. Will it correct more.
Thanks for your response
I have something new
Can do more. We gained 60 pct without a correction
Gold ETF is a clear winner for investment purposes 🙏
Why did you leave SGB?
Can't we buy from secondary market?
If can get below fair val

Thanks for all insights based on data. My SIP has now gold allocation.
Have you reached your gold allocation, age/2 % in your portfolio ?
How do we corelate 1 unit price of gold etf to 1 gram of gold??
It is 0.01 gm gold
Returns willl track.

Very useful explaination. Thanks 😊
I have 50% allocation in Gold inspired by your videos. Now, the gold allocation moved up to 55% due to equity depreciation. Should I rebalance? If yes, when and how frequently?
Gold is falling and automatically readjusted
Do it yearly
Yes every 3,6 or 12m you can consider
Sir no daily byte from past 3 days. Why?
Thanks for your response
I have something new

If only we knew the future'
100% in gold and silver etf
Ok
The plz discuss about the some platform which are giving 5 % lease on digital gold . How much safe they are
Very risky
Wanted to ask the same , those platforms even says they give more returns than SGB and they are highly promoted on social media
Gullak, Jar 😂😂

Why is Gold ETF cheaper than real gold?
1 unit etf : 0.01 gram gold ( Not accurate)
Lot size of etf is immaterial. Returns will track gold
Thank you sir❤
So nice of you
I prefer buying gold ETFs, but then my wife doesn't like it 😂
Same here
Lucky guys 😂
