    Anybody else notice that this guy is left-handed so he's just playing the chord patterns upside-down? Badass!

    What a great run down on a wide range of Kala Ukes. Loved it! I'm convinced now, that this brand is the way to go for my 1st Uke.
    Much appreciate all the work involved in uploading this video. Kudos.

    Excellent video. Enjoyed the 8 strings and the baritone models.
    Didn't realize Kala used such beautiful wood products. And your details of the tuning pegs was informative.

    I’ve got the ‘Travel Tenor’, it’s got volume waaay beyond the suggestion of it’s dimensions. I’ve had a few travel/ thins/ ‘feathers’, I tend to play a lot slouched backwards so the style suits that quite well.

    Thanks for the video. Good work! I own the slim-bodied travel ukulele, but in soprano. It did come with a padded gig bag. However, with a strap button put on the bottom and the strap left on, it's a tight fit. Plus, the edges of a Boveda put in the bag has to be bent up the sides. I wonder if a smaller Boveda will do a good enough job. It gets very dry in the winter where I live.

    The thing is I tried an Ashbury 8 string in the shop and it blew me away. But I have looked around and Kala just has a better reputation. Plus I play my Makala pineapple a lot and I LOVE it. I want an 8 string for accompanying songs, with a mellow harp like tone, but I'm wary that the 8 strings are jangly. I might reconsider and go for a 4 string tenor if the amp is good and the tone is pearly enough for me. (I mean Smooth soft and round with a nice life to it) I really liked the tone of the butterfly. What would you recommend?

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  5 лет назад

      Aaron Walderslade you should try and find the Kala KA-ASAC-T8. It’s a solid Acacia wood 8 string and is one of the only ‘mellow’ or ‘harp like’ 8 string I can think of without venturing up to the £500+ price point.
      If you do venture up - check out the Pono 8 Strings. Nice dark sound to them.

    Over the past three years or so I must have bought 20+ ukuleles,mainly tenors and all under £400. My favourites are all Kala. I currently have four including the Michael Aratani model, but the one I play most often is the ATP CTG---solid cedar top with acacia back and sides, but I love 'em all!Great review by the way. I don't usually like baritone ukes---they tend to sound too much like cheap guitars but that Kala Mango looks and sounds lovely. I see you are out of stock though! Will you be getting any more in at the same attractive price?

    I went on their site and found they had a case for their travel uke, the tthc I believe. But they have to info on if it's thinner than the standard case. Do you by chance? Or do you know of a thin hardcase? I have the Koaloha ktm-soo and would love the perfect fit.

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  5 лет назад

      The Travel Tenor case is slimmer than a standard case.. We currently have none available with more coming in the new year. Kala's US dealers may have some if that is where you are based?

    Can you do, a review of the Kala KA-KSLNG?
    I have the Kala gloss mahogany Concert, & Tenor ukuleles.., but want a soprano sound.., still.., after these 2, I want to get a "better" or "upgraded" model.
    Considering my larger hands, & beginner level skills, I'm thinking I would be happier w/ a longneck, or 'super' Soprano..,
    W/ all this in mind, along w/ my gravitation to kala.., I thought this would be THE model to get.., but NO ONE HAS A REVIEW ON IT!
    I hope you can do a review on it.
    Thank you for your time!

    • @SouthernUkuleleStore
      @SouthernUkuleleStore  5 лет назад +1

      A. Duran Hi there, I don’t think I’m going to be able to help you with that model.. we haven’t had one in stock for over 2 years. I am not entirely confident that the U.K. distributor for Kala even has the option to order them anymore.
      Kala recently moved production of the laminate Koa Ukes from Indonesia to China and I suspect that model, at least for now has been discontinued.
      It was always a nice looking Uke but had quite a boxy sound and was never very popular.. that might be why not many people if any reviewed it.
      Apologies, I hope the explanation helps?
