Chris Bee does a similar test and the 28 came out on top. So who really knows. How I would choose between the 2 is if I was a 29 inch or longer draw I would go with the 31.5
What a gorgeous range. Here in AZ most of our ranges are brown and dirt and rocks. Your range is nicer than most places we actually hunt. Keep up the great work and excellent videos. I really appreciate your content.
I’m having a hard time with a 28 or a 31 ,, I have one on order. I couldn’t make up my mind , told the guy at the bow shop to order one , and after watching this I’m leaning to a 31 .. might and up with two .. good video ,, 👍👍
That intro drone.... Way sick! We need a course like this in my hometown! Good shootin, Dan! I made the switch from BowTech to Mathews this year and I am loving the VXR 31.5!! Good luck this season!!
This actually says a lot because the second shot on each target, you always had a spot to aim off of.... my focus was bad off yesterday, shot horrible at a tournament but still placed, was focus more on my pins then the target and didn’t even think about my fallow through or back elbow... also the sweaty palms messed my grip up pretty good.... I was just bad all together
I do the same thing with my new bow versus my old bow. I'll just leave the range finder in the truck so I can practice guessing the right yardage. Makes me feel more confident in the heat of the moment if I don't have time to range the animal. Like your channel and enjoy watching you and your buddies slinging arrows. I just had shoulder surgery yesterday and now I'm just hoping my rehab goes good so I don't miss this season of hunting. Just keep the videos coming cuz I don't have much else to do right now and it sucks.
Quick question. You might have already discussed this in a previous video and I missed it. Why do you not have lighted nocks on the 28" VXR and you do have lighted nocks on the 31.5"? Was it because of the hunt in Idaho doesn't allow lighted nocks? Enjoy the videos and good luck and stay safe.
Ok, a tad late to the game but here goes. Due to a shoulder injury I had to turn my 65 lb VXR down a half turn. It’s now in the 58+ lb range. Would the efficiency change if I left the 65 lb mod (turned down) over putting in a 60 lb mod maxed out?

When you talked about bear vitals good tips! I just shot my 1st bear a few weeks back and I hit 1/2 inch behind the scapula, hit the heart, and one lung. I think my shot was good and she only went 23 yards. Is it more of a situationally thing, or did I get lucky because of the angle I shot from?
Any reason why you run 25/40/50? Curious what your speed and such is? I run a sliding 3 pin and have 20/30/40 but going to swap to 30/40/50 this year and learn just the difference for 20 & +/- 5.
Great videos Dan been following in Australia for a while now, very insightful & great tips for the DIY's. Im shooting the VXR 31.5 coming from a Hoyt Carbon Defiant Turbo very happy with my change to Mathews Question what is the song track name at the start of this video clip ?
So glad they are helping!! We license our music from Soundstripe, we have a discount link in most of our videos descriptions if that helps you at all 🤘🙏
Interesting experiment. I think it's almost impossible to control for all variables in order to get a perfect comparison in this use case. The only way to minimize the impact of variance in wind, endurance, temperature, and etc, is to generate a large enough sample of shots and then analyze the data. Doing so I think you'd find some some intuitive, yet unique, patterns in the bows performance that would suggest the best uses for them. Speaking from a data scientist's perspective, I think it'd be interesting to analyze your accuracy measurements with 500 arrows per bow. Just throwing it out there in case there's any interest.
If u had the same dial sights on each bow you would have shot better with the 28 u were actually doing better with it at closer distance but that dial was all the difference at longer ranges
Because tree stand shots are typically 30 yards max.. Most 3rd axis stuff won't show up until you're shooting further than that, and at steeper angles.. It's certainly not fake news - TC
Hey my dude you better get a lawyer because I’m suing you for a really nice hat and shirt for a really low price just got my package the quality is amazing thank you
Were you surprised by the results?!? We kind of were, Dan was mobbing the 28 pretty hard for the last few weeks
Elk Shape they are both great shooting bows but at 5’6 the 28 is perfect for me and for whitetail in Texas is a no brainer
I just got a VXR 31.5 this week, but I love my Vertix. Which I'll start this season? I haven't decided. LOL :)

I just shot these two and the V3. I just liked how the VXR 31.5 felt in my hand the best. Thanks for the review, appreciate the content.

seeing and hearing about the shot placement on the bear,. As a new hunter I'd love to see a video of each animal and their vitals and best shots
TBH seeing you hit all those 5s made me feel a lot better. Thought I was the only one! Haha thanks for keeping it real.
Always!
I was expecting my beloved 28 to win. It’s good to practice in nasty weather so you’ll be ready for a tough hunt.

That intro drone shot though!! Sick!

Hey man thanks for sharing your trial. I am happy with my VXR 31 too. What fletched were you using and what angle helical did you have on them? Cheers

We’re You alternating shots or was the 28 last all the time? Cause that 28 with a black gold pro sight 3 pin is money!!!!
Alternating the whole way through!
Solid comparo!
Return with the lefty!
thanks
Great video ideas always mate. Great to see your channel growing!
Thanks G
Groovy!!! Thanks guyz!!!
Our pleasure!

Dude love he channel, just the motivation I need
I'd have to do this test at least 10 times and then compare all the results and then you'd have a clear winner
for sure
Would you not have the same running gear on the bows so they are the same and then do a review
tinkering....
What are the flashing lighted nocks you use
I have a 30 in draw so i like a longer bow , the string angle makes it hard to be consistent for me, i prefer 33 ata

Yo this channel is the bees knees my man. You guys are doing an awesome job.
bee knees thanks bro 🤘
I have the 31.5 and love it :) what is your draw length?

Agreed a larger sample would provide a better conclusion.. unfortunately there's that whole time thing
Which one do you shoot best left handed?
the lefty 28
Love the vids. Keep it up!!!
Thanks! Will do!
Awesome video.
Thank you
I bet on the 31.5 but not by that much!
Should I get a 28 at 16?
If u had the same dial sights on each bow you would have shot better with the 28 u were actually doing better with it at closer distance but that dial was all the difference at longer ranges
Definitely could of been
Awesome episode!! Keep up the great work guys!!
We're trying hard 🤘
lol love your honesty.
Awesome 👍

WATCH PREVIOUS VID "HOW FAST OUR BOWS SHOOT" - TC
Guy has 2 new vxrs id love to have just one
Excellent
thanks homie
Why is it nobody ever has had an issue with an arrow “drifting” from a tree stand or shot from elevation until this 3rd axis stuff came out 🤔
Because tree stand shots are typically 30 yards max.. Most 3rd axis stuff won't show up until you're shooting further than that, and at steeper angles.. It's certainly not fake news - TC
The real question is “When is TC gonna get a Mathews?!!!!!!!
Lol RUEBEN - you're working me over pretty hard .. TC
I may put a good word in for TC when I visit Mathews HQ next month :) -DS
now do it with the left handed bow........😂
hmmm - naw haha -DS
I said the same!
Come on Dan!!!
Just for shits and giggles, you should try out a EZV sight sometime...
