SINGLE CAR CAMPING SET UP IN MY SUV [TOYOTA RAV 4]- SOLO FEMALE & MY DOG! || THE SUNDAY CAMPER

- Today I am sharing a super minimal and simple (no build no spend) second car camping set up for my Toyota Rav 4 . The single bed in back is great as it allows so much extra room along the side of the boot area for storing my larger esky as well as storage and easy access for everyday items. I LOVE the full double bed set up I shared in my last video as it gives so much extra room to really stretch out when sleeping - especially since Freddie can be a real bed hog! But this set up makes car camping easier...I am trying to find something in between - a bigger than single but smaller than double mattress that allows some room along the side for storage and that allows my table to sit over the top to create a SUPER handy storage ledge. I have used my table as a ledge over my single mattress and slept with my feet tucked under at night - heaps of room still to move around - but I found the single mattress too small for me an Freddie...time to head to Clark Rubber or somewhere to see about a custom sized piece of memory foam that can hopefully tri- fold up for easy storage in the boot / trunk when I am not car camping!!! Today I am sharing with you a single sleeping set up for the back of my RAV 4 car camper - this is a great option to allow extra storage in the back BUT it makes it extra snug for sleeping with a bed hog like Freddie!!! We need to find a happy medium between a single and double to allow a little extra room for sleeping PLUS a little extra room for storage!!! Great video! I also converted my SUV into a car camper last year and did a bit of solo traveling up and down the east coast here in the US. It was the most therapeutic thing I have done for myself in years. HAPPY CAMPING from a fellow organizer! Looking forward to more videos like this!

Hi :) The boys have only come out on one trip and we use a Coleman Swagger Instant Up 3p Tent - it will be better when it gets warmer so we can open up the tent more to stop condensation inside without getting too cold 🥶 they had a great time with the campfire and the military style MREs I bought 🏕 Riley wants to come with me next time I go car camping - I think the three of us plus Freddie in the back of the car would be a bit snug!!!

It's so easy to just get a few things together and get away for a few nights - the only way I could reasonably afford this much travel with my dog!!!

@@THESUNDAYCAMPER I'm happy to have been a help in your decision-making in which vehicle to lease! 😊 I'm of the opinion that nothing, including cars, is made the way it used to be. Quality has gone down in every facet of the retail industry. Being in the automotive industry for the last ten years, has really helped me figure out what my next purchase will be, and it'll be a Toyota SUV, just not sure which one yet. I think every car brand is guilty of putting too much emphasis on technology add-ons and creature comforts, and dependability/durability has been sacrificed.

I’m guessing you generally camp at dedicated sites with basic conveniences like bathrooms?
I have only stayed at camp sites or rest stops so far and all have facilituties however I also have a camping toilet - sometimes the campsites have port-a-loos that are 😝 I also have an emergency bucket in case it's the middle of the night and I don't want to go out on my own 😅👍⭐

Thank you so much! I'm never really alone as I always camp where there are other people nearby - I don't know if I'd ever feel comfortable camping where there was noone (teenage horror movies have scared me for life 😅)

Camp grounds? Asking as someone who always wanted to do the same, but never actually did it 😊

Thank you for sharing this information. I am planning to change to a Rav4 this year, and intend to set it up for weekend trips to a campground. I think I may go with a single air mattress as well.

The chair is just from Kmart here - I think it's called a moon chair though if you are not in Aus - check Amazon I have seen similar there 🙌

I only play Overcooked so far - I started playing with my kids and have now gone pro in solo mode which is insanely tricky as you have to control two characters with the one controller - I say it's good for brain training 😂
Well, that's almost as good as a Westfalia! But much more practical since on a daily basis it's still your car. This is when I wish I knew how to drive.

Well I do have a camping toilet for emergencies but I have so far camped where there are either full amenities blocks or at the least a port-a-loo type set up 🙃

I have an SUV that is set up for camping on the weekends too.
We don't have a KMart here anymore but I really LOVE your solar security light and how you attached it so you could use it in the door window is Brilliant! I want to do the same. Maybe I will check Amazon.
We do have IKEA here and I've heard they have a small mattress that is the perfect size for SUV's. I want to say it's a toddler bed size. I've also seen the tri fold 4" mattress on Amazon as well.
Do you mostly stay in campgrounds or do you also "dry camp" or boondock camp?

Curious how you keep the air circulation going at night?
I shared this in my previous video - you open the back two rear windows just a fe centimetres each - with the bug nets over the windows to stop anything getting in - I then also have a usb rechargeable fan that I hook to the back passenger grab handle which helps create a cross flow of air - works brilliantly 👍
Whats d brand of your tent? Was it really easy to set up?

OMG , read these comments in commenting how organized this lady is .. I've been doing this style of camping 🏕️ for years... Too much unnecessary stuff .. My 2010Rav Limited is daily driver... Looks normal backdoor open with exception of stereo sub box.. What not noticed is all my cookware , clothes, toilet things in a computer back pack .. The two hard cases between front and rear folded down seats , which keeps various soups , dry goods, cooking utensils... No Platform !!! Basically, stealth look !! Keep it simple and functional ..
