Brilliant, love the creativity! If you take into account the fact that you can leave way more bedding and even clothes in the soft-top, it makes the times even closer.
I’m my Dune soft top I keep an additional 50mm mattress topper, 2 pillows and several opened up sleeping bags as an underlay as well as blankets. I don’t keep the ladder up there though, but there is room for a bit more stuff that’s for sure.
Great video! I have the soft top Nomad and love it! I made an extension for my engine crane to lift the whole tent off and on. Now I have the option of mounting it on either my Highlux (4" lifted) or my 8x5 trailer depending on where and how long I'm away for. I love that I can leave all my bedding in the soft top model as it saves heaps of time setting up!
Brilliant, that's a great versatile solution! The soft-top really is an unreal tent, especially for how well priced it is - ours never let us down in 3+ years and we put it through some pretty intense weather haha.
Thank you for great, informative content. We watched your videos about both Dune rooftop tents quite a few times and, thanks to you, were well informed. We ended up buying the soft rooftop tent, based on weight and price. We have used it twice now and are very happy with our choice. 😁
Can anyone tell me why the Dune 4WD Rooftop Tent is the same as the Dometic TRT? Is it essentially the same manufacturer with different branding? I’m looking for this Rofftop tent and after the Best Buy if they are the same thing.
Thanks mate!! Hmm possibly one day, but not for quite a few years I think as wouldn’t be able to get a caravan into a lot of the places I’ve been exploring lately 🙂
Great comparo again, looks like the ranger should stay on for nostalgia 😉 have you thought of getting a piece of elastic to go around the middle of the hard top to help in packing up by pulling in the tent as the tension is released. A lot closer in time than I thought it would be. Cheers 🍻
Thanks mate!! The hard top does have an elastic cord on the inside that helps to pull the material in, but perhaps an additional one would help, cheers 🙂
Hi, the external dimensions are 210 x 140 x 28 cm so the best way to tell would be to measure your roofspace to see if it will overhang. They're not too cold at night as they dont have as much internal space as a floor standing tent so heat up quickly. 🙂
Lmfao well done 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏. What a genious idea video idea and execution. Price difference would have to be thought of as to whether 16 or so seconds over all is worth it, over the soft top.
Thanks mate!! 🙂 Yeah that's definitely true, the soft-top is amazing value for money. I'm actually planning to do a follow-up video comparing all the pros + cons of the soft top vs hard top models.
Much closer than I would have guessed. Being 6' 3" helps considerably. Now to see a comparison with Bianca doing both.
Haha that's a good point! I take being tall-ish for granted sometimes 😅
Brilliant, love the creativity!

Very true! We've found we can leave a doona or two in the hard top, but the soft top could pack away with pillows too which was a definite plus.

I’d go hard top over soft top any day 👍
Hard tops give less wind drag and are just more durable, so I guess one vote for hard tops 😬👍🍻
Great video!

You're welcome! I'm glad the vids helped you choose and I hope you enjoy the tent! 🙂
Surpringing results, thanks for the video

super cool idea to time yourself in this way. The result was much closer than I expected though.
Your dual vid was well done ! - thanks
Great video, often it is just the setup shown, not the pack up. Great stuff!
Cool episode buddy
Your long hours of editing are paying off 👍
Will we ever see a caravan behind the dmax?
Thanks mate!! Hmm possibly one day, but not for quite a few years I think as wouldn’t be able to get a caravan into a lot of the places I’ve been exploring lately 🙂
Your mates a bloody stud!!
I bet making these side by side videos makes for some sweet outtakes.👌👌
Interesting findings and a great way to show it. Love your work mate. Well done.
Thanks mate! 🙂

Very creative. It's closer than I thought. 👌
Just curious
Do you have media training?
Love the vids BTW
No none at all, just trying to learn as I go really 🙂
Very Professional, looks awesome 👍
Price & weight. I'll go for the soft cover
Clear and cleverly done. 👍👍
Soft top now $1099 vs hardtop $2599. Is the hardtop worth the extra do you think? Pros vs cons. I'm in 2 minds which to go for.
For the money the soft top is really hard to beat. The hard top is a better tent, but not $1500 better in my books.
Nothing in it - except the price...
I've got the softop and love it.
Great video by the way!
Thanks mate! Yep the soft top is a fantatsic tent, especially for the price 👌
Dune 4WD Nomad Deluxe Hardtop Rooftop Tent 140cm, It is work with kluger2016? And this is not four season tent right. At the night will feel cool? Thx

@@explorebound thx
Super cool job!
brilliantly made video
If only developers could design something that pack up is the quick n easy part🤷🏻♂️
Weight is the big decision if taking the tent on and off
For the price of the hard shell. Might as well get a motop style tent and be set up in like 12 seconds
Lmfao well done 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏. What a genious idea video idea and execution.

Would be happy with soft top but wanted to mount solar not sure it’s worth the extra $$ though
Has anyone had any experience putting a big solar panel on the hardtop. How do the struts go?
If the struts dont work with the weight, just buy different ones to suit n swap it out.
I tried putting a panel on top. The struts didn't like it. So ended up putting the panel on the roof
Good to know guys - thanks!
Somebody will pick up a good reliable ranger when you sell it , not that much difference between them , both are quick and easy .
Yeah I was quite surprised with how close they were to be honest!
Never knew you were a Twin 😂
Mean while me fighting my ground tent for 30 minutes
My soft top rtt takes me 15 minutes each way, but I love it being off the ground
15min! What tent is that?
@@cyclemoto8744 it's a no name brand off Facebook
@@louiskudlak2256 that's a very long setup time
@@cyclemoto8744 yeah mainly taking the cover off and fitting the poles to the 4 windows
A Bundutec electric would have won. 4 latches and press a button. Hook on ladder and job done.
Haha love it
You don't look a day older than you did a year ago!
Is your mate single.... such a handsome young man 😍
Quite the spring chicken! 🤣
