Christopher Nolan Reveals His 5 Favorite Films

  • Christopher Nolan made his first feature, the 1998 arthouse neo-noir Following, on grainy, gritty 16mm. Now, nearly two decades and eleven movies later, he’s the sixth-highest-grossing director in the world! From science fiction to experimental documentary, the most-loved movies of the Dunkirk (and the rebooted Batman franchise, and Memento, and Inception, and need we go on?) director may seem fairly unrelated to one another at first glance, but one word could be used to describe them all: EPIC. Clearly, Nolan finds inspiration in very human stories set against vast and action-packed backdrops.

He expressed many times how Heat was a big influence to him. He even showed it to his cast so they get the feeling of what he is aiming to produce.
It's actually very clear when you watch his movies. Especially the similarity in the sound effect department. All top notch.
