We used to body surf the Wedge in the early sixties so I love seeing good footage of the place when it's up. There seems to be an endless supply of new fools though that take a board out to go over the falls into a foot and a half of water to slam into the bottom. I'm surprised not to see a few broken boards.

As a kid this was our beach back in early 70's not many even new about it we lived on 42nd st love watching these guys get hammered I spread to all our friends we'd drink at blackies and beach ball after and then go practice football 🏈 old school training !!

Oh man - love it, you caught some great rides. Don't ever add music - the natural sounds can't be beat. Back in the day my set up was speedo hand paddles and Voit fins. I could easily outrun boogie boards on a shoulder - they hated me and used to try and set over my feet to keep me from accelerating down a slope.
haha solid set up, i always throw up the raw footage but also do an edit along with each one as well, ultimately i didn't start the raw footage until people started me asking me too and its really become the most popular, appreciate the feedback man

Man, I watch these over and over and you guys surfing this Wedge get so much respect for repeatedly getting barrelled. I feel it because I know what it's like, but not of the magnitude of that wave!! \m/ >.< \m/

quick question, who is supposed to have wave priority here? people dropping in from out in the ocean, or people hopping on the wave from the shore/rock backwash, alot of funny parts in this one

hey Mark and thank you ! oh man favorite day, might have to be dec. 8th 2015 bodyboard pov, sept 24 2016 was pretty dam fun despite me being on antibiotics lol, january 12th 2016 bodyboarding, golden hour bodyboarding pov, feb 8th 2016 skim snaps, these are all my favorite POV's, and favorite days filmed from sand are this day, january 8th of 2015, september 6-7th of 2015, april 19th 2016 was super fun to film, may 29th and 30th 2016 were super interesting with the shark attack on the other side of the jetty and evacuation and all

conditions only allow a couple hours like this, and i work till 730am just about every morning so have to chose, i did a POV on september 24th and filmed from land tho for perspective

you generally one catch 3-5 waves in an entire session when if I'm filming from the beach i can capture up to 200 in the same time, i have before and i will again but the land footage is much more priceless to me on days like this

I remember the days that made my ears what they are today, closed up with sand still Wedge-d inside them, I do a lot of "huh?" "what?" and "can you repeat that" these days all because of the Wedge.

wulf67 its been crowded since i was riding my bike down there with a mcdonalds tray 15 years ago, people come and go and the crowd stays the same, the wedge is a tourist destination incase your unfamiliar with reality, feel free to pop on the local news station next XL swell

The wedge seems like a beast of its own... Do people get injured here alot? That's a close shore break so when you wipe out aren't you face planting into sand???
yeah people get injured all the time, usually rips or fractures and every couple years get a broken neck

The Wedge is a place I love watching surfing but never would want to surf. Looks like a broken neck waiting to happen lol! Skimboarders seemed to be catching some good rides though.
it has its fun days certainly when the crowd isn't too crazy, when its like this i prefer to capture from the beach and usually hit up newps or huntington after if i have the energy
