Andre Iguodala Tells Amazing Warriors Stories About Steph and KD + So Much More | JJ Redick

- On this week’s OM3, JJ and Tommy are joined by long time friend, long time NBA vet, All NBA defender - not to mention 2015 NBA Finals MVP - Andre Iguodala. In this wide ranging interview, Iggy touches on just about everything as he discusses topics like the new breed of players and the important element they're lacking, his uncanny knack for being on great teams, his six year run of being in The Finals, the brilliance of Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry, and so much more. And then to take it even further, he sticks around for an EAT PRAY DUNK segment where he tells the story of almost signing with The Dallas Mavericks if it weren't for Dwight Howard. It’s a can’t miss interview as Iggy plays it straight and tells it like it is.

Tommy is underrated as a co-host. He doesn’t force his way into conversations, he picks his spots to contribute so well.
And he is genuine
Facts
He’s just really bad at asking good questions. For the younger players he never seems to ask a question that gets a good repsonse
Sometimes he looks like he’s just there tho you can tell by his face
Tommy is the good role player
We'd like to see Klay on the pod!!!
While he’s on the boat
I think the only way somebody gets a interview outta Klay is if it’s a kick it type of environment lol. Seem like he hates interviews even in post interviews

"One time I got mad and I forgot he was on my team and pushed him. He still made the shot."
just casually
Met Andre and his brother in Pebble Beach when they were eating dinner. Super down to earth and took the time to be polite to my mother who is in a wheelchair. Classy dude and classy family.
To be fair - if you’re gonna be nice to anyone it’ll be a sweet old woman in a wheelchair 😂
That’s cool but really shouldn’t bother anyone when they are eating dinner
@@genevievegaillard1425 Thanks for the advice. His brother bumped into my mom's wheelchair and it would have been rude for me to ignore their apologies. I did not mind that they "bothered" us while eating dinner, though.
Im so glad nba players do this.
Same. It helps you to understand the game a lot better
For real, so sick of guys like Stephen A and skip trying to assassinate players’ character to make a quick buck or have a hot take
Lebron 8 straight NBA finals, Iguodala 6 straight NBA Finals, Steph Curry, Klay and Draymond all 5 straight NBA finals. These dudes straight live in the finals. Can't wait to see these guys compete again next year.
Hopefully warriors can bounce back this season
Yeah
@@lucaswedderburn4789 they will ...with two good picks coming in and klay coming back they’ll be way deeper
@@davidfebreeze428 they gotta move those picks for another star. Rookies won't get you wins right away
@@BlueHundred1 yeah right ... get another star and pay even more luxury tax😂 they’d be about to reach 200 mil in luxury tax apart from that they had another star and when you’re top heavy like that and one player gets injured or something you’re basically done and there are players in this draft that can help you right away
Andre really sounds like hes the nicest guy ever
His voice doesn't match the faces he makes during the games, like the crazy calls. Thought he would sound higher.
Iggy is so humble and respectable, absolutely love him. Miss him on the Warriors so much, so happy to see this podcast with him!
Shannon Funny how he leaves and the team struggles to get in the playoffs, but while Wiseman was out with injuries and Klay was working on coming back from his injury, this season showed me that they needed another guy out on the floor besides Draymond.
They'll probably trade Wiggins, Oubre, & the 7th pick for Ben Simmons. That's probably the best place for Ben to be anyways. Also, the 76ers wouldn't lose that trade because Wiggins & Embiid played together in college, so I wouldn't worry about those two not working out. Oubre is also a Kansas Jayhawk just like Wiggins & Embiid, so it'll be like the Jayhawk Big 3 in Philly that we never got to see. Might as well trade Doc Rivers to the Jayhawks for Bill Self since Bill Self coached all three lol. I always felt Doc would be better suited as a College coach & Bill Self would be better suited as a pro coach.
Now he's back!!
.
They finally got the guy that would save Earth from the Alien DeathBeam
Good intelligent conversations. JJ is a natural at this. Andre is a serious 3 dimensional thinker. I feel like he has to hold back when having conversations because he can easily go over your head if he wanted to. Seeing how he can start to answer a question, jump to a topic that doesn’t seem related in the beginning, but he uses that to circle back to answer the original question by tying them together. It’s like improvising a solo in jazz and going out of key a half-step and returning to the main key of the song before the head.
For me nothing interesting about iggy approach’s
@@raheem4958 it just depends in perspective some meanings can have double or triple meaning within a meaning it doesn’t have to be interesting it’s just of matter of trying to keeps things simple while getting your point across without sounding bland because he could answer and talk a lot simpler but then this podcast would be like 45 minutes which isn’t a bad thing but depends on what you’re into.
that's deep, bro
bro I listened to a clip of Andre on the pod and I was veryyyy intrigued by it. I think you shed some light for me as to why
I love that comparison. I never would've thought of it that way. Very spot on and I appreciate how you opened my eyes to that perspective. Through that lens, I enjoy Iggy's interview even more and now have a way to finally express in words what made Kobe's "detail" so much greater than just edutainment for basketball fans.
i've never paused a podcast so many times, i didn't wanna miss a thing.
This makes me want to see the warriors win again
And I wasn’t a fan of them during their run
They getting lillard so they gonna be on top again
Warriors can’t win championships anymore , they’ll be competitive but no more finals
theres gonna be a documentary about them in a few years
@@eastcoastybk6778 you literally have no basis
There’s a 15 min video of Steph Curry hitting clutch shots in the playoffs. It wouldn’t exist if he wasn’t clutch.
Casual media agendas smh
The only argument I could see is that Stephs not clutch because he doesn't play 4th quarter since he already won the game in the 3rd hahaha
@@BlueHundred1 lol it makes too much sense
Kwame said stop listening to the media
@@jordanadkins9656 Amen
Imagine Shaq or MJ had a podcast when they played. Or even Kobe, that would be something. I'd wanna see Steph, Klay, and Lebron on here. That would be so dope
@@davidmcTurd All the smoke podcast Steph was pretty good.
Man seriously this is the best podcast episode ever.
Iggy is one of the classiest guys of his era. Great two way player. Great Teammate and an ultimate winner all while being humble. He was absolutely vital to the Warriors run and got his due with the finals MVP. Cheers to you my guy. The league needs more guys like you. Absolute dawg out there.
We need KLAY on the pod
This is the best episode in a podcast EVER. Stories about steph are the best thing ever man.🙏
They low key roasting this seasons NBA finals
It's heating up, though...
when they're talking about steph and luka just being such great, normal people I feel like giannis is like that too. I hope they talk about giannis one podcast, would just to love JJ's and other players opinions as he's such a controversial player.
the thing is i've heard giannis doesn't like to be friends with other players
@@choyee1337 Where'd you hear that? Have you even seen his interactions with other players? I find that unlikely.
I find him pretty uninteresting and I can’t put my finger on why.
True, giannis and Jokic too.
@@choyee1337
That's more in the sense of not trying to be buddy buddy and team up. He's easily one of the most down to earth and respectful players in the league. Luka, on the flip side, has had rumors creeping up lately about his relationships with teammates and head coach.
I am a super casual basketball fan, got to see Vince Carter a few times growing up in Toronto but not a regular viewer by any means, but man this podcast is awesome I love hearing insightful athletes talk about competing and what their lives are like in professional sports. Iguodala is so humble and intelligent, love the interview.
Iguodala one of the realest
Been a big fan of Iggy from the start of his career, definitely my favourite interview! 🔥🔥
Let’s goooooo Iggy has been my favorite player in the league since he was on the sizers. Love seeing him on as a guest!
Sizers? Would that be Expanders or Reducers? 😂😂😂✌️
@@bamboo7714 Trust the progress
That imitation of Mark Jackson around 10:30 was spot on. Same stuff you hear Jackson saying on ESPN now about Steph.
Glad you guys have Iggy again. It is priceless! DubNation misses him
.
One of the best one’s yet!!
This is one of my favourite episodes Iggy is a great guest
We were having an oyster party the other day and things got out of hand lmao
@John Cole 😭
Y’all are on a one!!! These pods have been 🔥🔥🔥
This was the best one you’ve ever had
Iguodala is that guy.
love the pod JJ. if i had a small recommendation, try to breakout the youtube segments into categories so people know the conversation topics throughout the whole video. Big fans as always keep up the great work
I appreciate Andre's unapologetic blackness 💪🏿 salute to that King 🤴🏾
This is a classic.
Probably best pod yet
Best episode so far
Congrats on the big 250k JJ can’t wait to see you play in Toronto next season💪🏽
Very enjoyable conversation and enlightening he has been one of my favorite player I was hoping the Hawks would have tried to bring him here
The mark Jackson piece was great what a quote
And it helped explain why Mark couldn't get them to the Finals.
the way warriors played the game was the best version of basketball I have seen in a long time, the screens, pick, the timing of their cuts, movement without the ball, Kerr gets a lot of credit for taking a spurs like offense to a brand new level
shoutout you and Duncan for bringing my favorite player on!! can’t wait til he can get on knuckleheads or all the smoke to round it out
One of the best podcasts
Thank you Iguadala for helping us win a championship that year.
Honestly this was so refreshing on so many levels. Great questions, pacing and topics covered. Andre's combination of knowledge, perspective, emotional intelligence, and sense of humor is top notch and I'm really glad he's had such a successful and well rounded career as I feel its very deserved. Obviously that's not to say others don't deserve theirs, but rather seeing the amazing a person he seems to be makes me happy that he's achieved so much in life, as you always want good people to be able to reach their potential and live fulfilled and meaningful lives.
I also think I could listen to him talk about Duncan Robinson stories all day as those are hilarious!
Great listen
Greatness resonates in Andre not only due to his defensive wizardry, but his unselfish tendencies. Imagine you’re in your day-to-day job and a young new hire starts breaking down the walls of success. Natural leaders set aside their ego, grab a shovel, and do something for someone else. Unselfishness is contagious in a winning culture!
This thinking applies to our everyday jobs, too. It will elevate those who aren't so great at their jobs if the people who really are great, rather than those who are senior, or ingratiated with management, are elevated. It sets an example of what it means to be good at your job, and shows you will be rewarded for it if you also do so. It takes good management & good veterans, though.
As a Warriors fan. This makes me so happy.
.
Game 4 was BANGIN
Tommy's question to Iggy : " Tell us a Duncan Robinson story"
Iggy " Duncan is the dumbest smart person I know"
😂
hey dats what i call myself! Its better den being da smartest dumb person
Any clue on what the story there were talking about was?
I Want Igoudala!!
GREAT GREAT GREAT Pod Cast!!!
Now JJ Redick wants to join the Warriors after hearing stories how fun to play for them
The Kellerman argument "I want Iguodola" isn't as simple as he made it. Would you rather have a wide open, w/ no one within 6 feet, Iguoudola or Steph shooting off the catch w/ 3 guys draped all over him (likely fouling / grabbing / holding him as well). You could also make the argument that Andre isn't that wide open without having Steph demand all that attention.
The shitty thing is that max seems smart enough to realize the argument is that nuanced, but doesn't present it in a genuine way.
Becasue money
Because it's a show they do for clicks/views my man. Those talk shows built on arguing have always been like the Twitter algorithm became a human with Tourettes.
Nigga, why can't Max have HIS OWN OPINION, just like you niggas do?
"In all the good teams, there was never a meeting about 'Oh, let's do it together'". Truer words have never been spoken.
Iggy was such a good guest. Love him
We need steph JJ ♥️♥️ plz bro 😭😭😭😭
Andre is still my favorite player.
Best podcast
Oh yeah, I didn't forget you young man. Thanks JJ for your podcast and allowing us to see what these players are truly about. Not surprising to see why you and your guests are successful. Either from good upbringing and or good Mentoring. Peace 2/22
Dray and Iggy guarding KD, and Iggy explaining relax is just a lol moment.
I would love to see Kerr, along with other coaches on here. Tap into that for sure.
Even if klay misses I feel like he would just laugh it off and that would kinda comfort as we died together
I've got a short attention span, and was riveted for 1:21:21. Thanks, enjoyed it very much!
You guys need to bring out tmac one way or another
T Mac is one of the most fun players to watch ever ... it’s so sad he got hurt as much as he did
Klay would be so amazing, I cant remember if you had Dray yet but man that be great.
klay would be sth to see just cuz of how stupidly chill and different his personality is while dray would just be super informative and entertaining as we have seen by now
Im from peoria where Livingston is from definitely a rough place
Not to take anything away from Iguodala, he was near his downward side of his career and not having to start is a blessing because that in itself can prolong his playing days. I was actually upset when warriors had to give up iguodala, he was my 3rd favorite player on the warriors.
im not finished and this is my favorite steve adams being number 2 so far i have been saying you wanna win you need a iguodala and a livingston come playoff time
Tommy’s question was great 😂
They had me crackin up😂
I really miss this guy and Livingston
Love this. Really humanizes you guys. I never thought about how much hard work goes into what you all do. With the way the media calls you all spoiled athletes. Sorry for my old skewed view.
Hall of famer!
Heeellll yeah!!!!!!!! You should also have Klay on, too...
Iggy is a warrior for life!!
Finally someone talked about how amazing Mark jackson really is
The Business side of the NBA is just astonishing!
This is a solid major dude.
You should have asked him if the fate of the universe was on the line, last shot. Who does he got taking it! Curry, or iguodala!
THIS THE COMMENT
He answered that already on First Take, nothing to see here.
@@FKF95 yo so there’s this thing called a joke, it’s funny
I mean he sort of asked it at 35:12, and iggy replied MJ or Curry.
@@neomccloud6195 oh ok, I didn’t actually listen to it, I saw it in my recommended and I had to comment something about iguodala
Glad to see this in my sub box
I WANT IGUODALA!
I hope people who are so quick to look at Athletes as 'Dumb Jocks' and tell them to 'Shut up and dribble' understand many of them are very intelligent and understand WAY MORE than just how to hoop. Weather or not you agree me or not, a lot of them are 'Intellectuals' and smarter than you think they are. Maybe that was true more so 40 years ago however with 'Technology' and the importance of 'Financial Planning' and Life after Basketball, you see how influential certain Team Owners, Agents, and Former Players have on today's generation of Athletes. Especially the ones who come from an impoverished upbringing and do not fully understand the 'Value of Money".
Thanks Andre for coming to my favorite team since I was a child. 50 years later, I'm proud to be raised in the SF Bay Area and call myself a True Life Long Warriors fan through think and thin. Peace
Funny about Evan Turner.....I saw Iggy and him walking on Lincoln road few years back....didn't know yall were cool like that 💯
1:20:00 gives me demarcus cousins speaking in the post game interview about how Seth curry got a long career ahead of him vibes
6:19-6:30 talks about liking Zo and BI
🐐
My guy j-strokes coming in clutch
These dudes throwing shade on the playoffs
“You miss out on greatness while playing with greatness.”
-Andre Iguodola
Klay on the pod would be amazing!
“You’re all dead”😂😂😂😂💪🏽
If a coach told me “we’re willing to lose the game for you to win the battle” I’m never leaving the gym
I think every teammate would want a tough player on your team like Udonis Haslem, Zach Randolph, Chauncy Billups, Kevin Garnett, Alonzo Mourning, Steve Nash, Allen Iversion, Dennis Rodman, Patrick Beverly, Steven Adams, Ron Artest (Metta World Peace), Ben Wallance, Draymond Green, Demarcus Cousins, the James Johnsons in the league. And then there's the Zen Master teammates like Andre Iguodala that you love to have. Such a supportive and empowering teammate.
When is the Tommy and Davis podcast coming?
Frank igudala a beast
Come back to Dallas JJ. You too Andre, you wanted to come here before, do it now
Iguodala is truly great after being an All-Star (I think it was at Philly?) then sliding back, he reemerged with the warriors and was still a major contributor for the heat
I think he was an All-Star in Denver which was right before he was traded to Golden State, might be wrong tho
I just fact checked it, he was an Allstar in his last year in Philly.
Tommy nods his head all interview long lmao
Give mark jackson his flowers he really was the roots of those rings
I hated him but you right.
Gotta get a mini clippers reunion episode would be epic 🔥🙌
What's the Duncan Robinson story that they were alluding to at the end there? It's been a while since I watched the Duncan Robinson podcast
Wow, story about Mark Jackson believing in Steph at 10:30, chills.
