Superb video Jake, many thanks for taking the time to put it together. I've been searching for a video like this on the Akela & there seem to be none, certainly not to this detail.
Thanks, I always look for a disassembly video before I buy a rifle, couldn't find one one the Akela, but happy to be the first on RUclips. Thanks for watching.
Excellent video my friend! Awesome attention to detail. I was unaware how well built this rig is! Thank you for sharing the importance of shortening the hammer spring.
Thanks for the video series! I ordered the .177 Akela yesterday during the Black Friday sale at Benjamin. I like bullpups due to my lower back issues, and sure a little TLC and it will be a great shooter.
Another great video jake, it's great seeing you do the machine work with the upgrades of the rifle, you're videos are spot on but must be very time consuming.
Hi there I was in the middle of stripping down my Akela I got to the part of taking the air barrel off by removing the 2 2.5mm grub screws and the is only one in there the other must of broken off do you have any ideas because the leak is obviously the O rings inside Regards
Superb video cheers. Can I ask a question please. I have an Akela purchased just a few weeks ago. I have put no more than 50 shots through it. I left it alone for a week while I was away. I have returned and found there is play between the stock and metal parts. Pivoting around the stock screw that travels up through the stock. I am sure it was rock solid previously, as it is really noticeable even just taking to the shoulder. My hand on the stock can easily push up cyclinder. It must have moved by 2-3mm. I have gradually tightened the stock screw and the play has lessened. I am now at the max of the screw. If I go further I feel I will be in big trouble and cross thread it. The play has gone and we are back to normal. I am just concerned why it would have loosened so much doing nothing. Any issue with this in your experience or thoughts why it may have happened? Many thanks
Hi There, Great video. I've just purchased an Akela, poor delivery guy hasnt got back to the shop and its in Bits..JUST FOUND the new style anti tamper screws and they arent plastic but look like a snap off grub screw, did manage to get 1 out with a sharp pointy stick ,the other one will need a small drill to make a locating hole for a little grip. Just to let you guys know in case this on your to do list. Thanks .Roger
Yet another awesome master class Jake! Very enjoyable, and easy to follow. Pure genius! I also have an Akela on the way which will no doubt end up in your workshop for the same treatment 😉👍
I bought this rifle today and am looking forward to installing a regulator. Wonderful and detailed disassembly and very informative content. Thank You. I subscribed and looking for more.
🤔 Oooo so that's my problem ,,,my gun is very loud at the back end of the hammer ,,,,my spring is to tight and I can't get it adjusted to do good groups ,,,,,is there a video on how to modify the spring ,,,,,I'm sure mine is tight or long ❤
Hello, I have a leak at the connector for loading the rifle. By dismantling I have the valve system with the seal in it, but if I tighten the connection fully the air from the compressor no longer enters the rifle. Is there a spacer or other piece between the fitting and the small gasket at the bottom of the threaded hole? THANKS
Nice one Jake. A great video. I've followed your guide exactly & my rifle performs exactly as you describe. My hammer adjuster anti tamper was not nearly as kind, left handed drill got me nowhere. A word of warning to some people (if yours is a pain like mine was) I ended up drilling it out completely & putting a helicoil in there.
Awesome video really helps a lot! I am though, unable to remove the valve cylinder end. Tried heat, vice, hammer( percussion) etc!!! I am getting workout...but I can feel the tears welling up. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance.
@@sub12airgunners Cheers. At least it still works having re-assembled for the time being. I discovered that its best to have the safety set to 'on/safe' before tightening the trigger assembly, back on to the cylinder. If you don't, then it wont tighten and you risk shearing the bolt, and then having to source a box set of m3 hex bolts like I did! 😅 Funnily enough, I managed to get the front fill end off! Sods law eh?
I got a Reximex accura but it low at 10ftlb and i cant turn the hammer spring adjuster, I did not want to return it but i think i have to, Is the hammer spring adjuster anti tamper easy to remove? Or shall i just return it.
I greatly appreciate you doing this video. The Akela needed a good video on what to fiddle with to make it better. On the other hand, shame on you for NOT reading the manual provided with the air rifle. Had you read the manual you would have known about the bleed screw at the front of the reservoir.
What was the original TP size you drilled out in the valve housing? If I decided to increase my Akela's TP without a reg and shorten the hammer spring to prevent as much hammer bounce, obviously I can't drill it to 2.8mm because I wouldn't be running at reg pressure of 85bar. I'm running at an average of about 170bar so to keep my power down I'd only need a tiny amount off the TP so if the original is 1.5mm then I'd go to 1.8mm which should be enough. Depends what the original hole size is. Thanks.
to be honest the 3 i have worked on have all been different but the last one was 1.5mm but it is a brass insert so you can drill it out and start again if you needed to 😁
I have a .177 Akela and a .22 Cayden. It seems that if you want to convert the Cayden to .177, you need just the .177 barrel and the .177 cocking arm / probe - do you agree? To make it look nice you can use the 2 pieces of the shroud over the barrel. Would that work to convert the Cayden to .177, or am I missing something?
since its an old video might not get an answer, but do you have another tutorial video or some other doc explaining how to calculate length of the hammer spring? thanks
Its not that sophisticated I am afraid, normally we just cut a coil off at a time depending on power and how much pre load we have on the spring it pays to have a spare so you can cut it down and try it out. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for guide. Looks almost identically, very similar like Reximex Apex/Regime. Difference is that cocking lever is moved forward and Reximex doesn't have regulated hammer spring. Other minor differences is marginal, like that back picatiny rail non existent and different power regulator, no knob, only flat screwdriver head. Shroud is not that far back, but baffles are the same. Internals of valve probably very similar or the same.
How would one get around the issue of the akela's pressure gauge no longer reading actual fill pressure, and instead now reading the reg pressure? Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated. I do not trust my hand pump gauge. I assume a qd gauge between the akela and my pump would be the answer but I don't see a ton of $20 rigs already addressing this issue on ebay or amazon.
Must have a problem with mine as this morning noticed all air gone on the gauge, been wanting to fit a regulator and came across an anti tamper screw whilst trying to take the cylinder off. Ffs 😢 why anti tamper there (uk model) anti tamper for hammer spring as well. Anyone have any simple suggestions or know anyone who would be able to fit etc. north east UK. Thanks all
I have a brand new Akela. After getting blasted in the face with a couple of shots I noticed that the power adjustment knob had wandered it's way out the other side. I was able to get it back in alignment but it keeps trying to work it's way out. Is there any way that I can secure this and still with to be adjustable?
У меня есть решение как закрепить ручку регулировки. Скоро выложу на своём канале. Там будет ещё много интересных решений с Бенжамин Акелла. Не пропустите.
Impressive ,,,i just ordered me one of these air rifles ,,,i been watching lots of videos on,these and I hope mine performs just as good as the ones in,videos ,,,,but if I decide to add a reg,,,,I got the video to do it by,,,,thanks for the info 😊😊
Before you actually purchase the reg, make sure you can remove the valve cylinder end assembly. Mine is stuck fast. No amount of heating or torque will shift it. Good luck mate!
What is that little brass plug on the valve thats farther away from the transfer port opening it looks like its been plugged and its brass as well ? ty
Its on the outside of the valve on opposite side of thr transfer port in from the two outer orings on the valve it looks like a bress plug on the video
I'm having nothing but problems but come to the conclusion that in leaking at the transfer port and end of the exhaust too looks like the little oring on the exhaust is clipped so I need to find oring that size anyone have a clue
I wish mine was regulated, but 10 minutes in I decided this was beyond me. Thanks though
This is an excellent video. I just bought this rifle, and having it regulated would help it significantly. Thank you very much for this great work.
thanks for watching glad it was helpful

Our one is a great gun 😁

They take a little time mate but its worth it in the end, better then watching telly or being bored. Thanks for watching Phil

Valuable masterclass on a beautiful design. Essential viewing.
Thanks, I appreciate the support mate. Thanks for watching.
Ok, if I was more patient I would have seen the answer in your video. Excellent by the way.
what a great video, thanks for your work that helped me repair my benjamin akela

Thanks Tony, little more work and this is going to be a little gem of a rifle. thanks for watching.
I bought this rifle today and am looking forward to installing a regulator. Wonderful and detailed disassembly and very informative content. Thank You. I subscribed and looking for more.
Thanks, glad you found it useful, Thanks for watching.
Do you happen to have a part number for the Lane regulator? Or a link?

Damn you!
Now I also want one of these!! 🤣👍🏻
Pretty sweet well done once again. Thank you for this one!
😂 thanks for watching 👍

yes i feel you pain, we did one for a friend and it was a nightmare to got off 😣all i can say is keep going it will come off in the end

there is also a small grub screw next to the filler port to drain the air from it if you dont want to touch the gauge
Quite nicely made rifle for an El Cheapo. Any idea who makes the barrel?
thanks for watching😀 no i have no idea it's very soft it's not like one of the normal suppliers
I got a Reximex accura but it low at 10ftlb and i cant turn the hammer spring adjuster, I did not want to return it but i think i have to, Is the hammer spring adjuster anti tamper easy to remove? Or shall i just return it.
Brilliant work pal and thanks for the excellent video, can't wait for the shooting results 😀 👍
Thanks, a little more work to but its coming along nicely Thanks for watching.
Good day. Can you please tell me what thread is on the pressure gauge?
I greatly appreciate you doing this video. The Akela needed a good video on what to fiddle with to make it better. On the other hand, shame on you for NOT reading the manual provided with the air rifle. Had you read the manual you would have known about the bleed screw at the front of the reservoir.
Awesome video, thanks. How did you capture the two pellets, to examine them ?
They were just pushed through the barrel by hand not under pressure, Thanks for watching

hi could you do a Beeman 1358 strip-down and mod video, please I can't find one anywhere thanks from a big fan in the UK .

don't the Caydon but most guns it's just a barrel and pellet probe to convert them 👍
Just perfect. Very useful video. Nice job.
Glad you liked it

Good afternoon, where can I see sealing ring sizes?

hola amigo, cuantos tiros regulados quedó dando el akela?
vale la pena poner ese regulador?
saludos desde chile
Hello.... What lenght and thread size are the two barrel grub screws ? ..... Thanks

can the power adjuster be pulled out without a complete takedown to change its o-rings?
здравствуйте вопрос такой после устоновки регулятора манометр показывает давление резервуара или за редукторное давление ?

Great video and a true follow at home tutorial...although wheres the dremel for the reg install? 😃
Thanks Tim, I used the BIG dremel for this one. Thanks for watching.
Jake do you fit regulators to akela 22 as I got mine from Dan and he told me to ask you thank you.
Do u fit regulators
No sorry, we can't work on other peoples air rifles without a RFD licence. Thanks for watching.
Impressive ,,,i just ordered me one of these air rifles ,,,i been watching lots of videos on,these and I hope mine performs just as good as the ones in,videos ,,,,but if I decide to add a reg,,,,I got the video to do it by,,,,thanks for the info 😊😊
they can be great rifles our one is still going strong
Before you actually purchase the reg, make sure you can remove the valve cylinder end assembly. Mine is stuck fast. No amount of heating or torque will shift it. Good luck mate!
Is it possible to fit the reg without cutting the standard hammer spring?
What is that little brass plug on the valve thats farther away from the transfer port opening it looks like its been plugged and its brass as well ? ty
I think that's the burst disc you can see 👍
Its on the outside of the valve on opposite side of thr transfer port in from the two outer orings on the valve it looks like a bress plug on the video
Hello dear !!! how many cc have Akela?
Do ineed to degass to remove the barrel for polishing/ adjusting magazine detent?
no need to de gas 👍
I'm having nothing but problems but come to the conclusion that in leaking at the transfer port and end of the exhaust too looks like the little oring on the exhaust is clipped so I need to find oring that size anyone have a clue
Hi buddy, I watched your movie and I have a question what part of England do you live in because I would like you to do the same to me with my Akela
Hi, we don't work on other peoples rifles sorry. thanks for watching.
I’m liking this guys..👍
Shane
Thanks Shane, nice little project this one. Thanks for watching.
Wow, SUPER helpful!
Do u fit these for people
So would 85 bar work for all .177 Akelas?
not all it will depend on lots of different things
Really awesome .
Feel so good
thank you
SUPER👍👍👍👏👏👏🙋♂️
Thank you 👍
nice vid 😀
👍
Now I found My kral puncher breaker is a copy of this gun. Exactly the same made by Turkish company
Yes i think there are a few very similar guns 😀
I spoke to dan today as I got akeila off him and I wanted to no if you fit a regulator for me dan us going to phone u my number thank you.
Do you by chance know what the thread size is on that pressure gauge?
Not 100% sure, although 99% of the gauges are 1/8 BSP, I see no reason why this one would be different. Thanks for watching.
Я тоже ищу размеры резьбы манометра. Получилось узнать?
