The reason for Valkryries not seeing much play is mostly due to their hand problem and their fairy rivals. If you wanted to run fairies you'll see just your average drytron deck which never runs out of cards in hand for perfect heralds omni negates, also you have your counter trap fairy decks that I see more often then valkyries. It would help if this comment got some likes so others can see since I'm seeing some people other than rhyme ask.
Also the card that seereax uses to enter his battle phase again is indeed good, but it's only seen use when safe conditions are met like an empty field or weak monsters on you're oppents side. You can't react to it like super poly (exception of Cerulean skyfire) making a decent dmg dealer when used properly.
Definitely! I'd also like to point out the valkyrie card that lets you skip your opponents turn to your next battle phase isn't invincible. Yes, all of your monsters can potentially attack again, but it also resets all of your opponent's once per turn effects

A friend of mine made Swords of Revealing Light a continuous card effect with his valkyrie deck.

Ash Blossom is significantly better:
1. It’s generic. Herald of Orange Light only works in a few decks. Ash is splashable.
2. Every competitive/viable deck searches or draws cards. Ash can respond to that. Herald can’t
3. Even though Ash can’t negate all monster effects like Herald can, some of the most pivotal/essential monster effects are the ones that add to hand, special summon, or send to GY from deck, so Ash can respond to those.
Herald of orange light is definitely a tuner.
Ash negates all cards that search or speical summon so traps and spell can't escape this little basterd while herald of orange only negates monsters effects so one is an omi negate towards monsters while the other is an omi negate to search and special summons so 80%-90% of the game

@@mical2great I searched up Herald online and saw that it wasn’t a tuner. Must’ve been an older copy of the card. I didn’t realize cards were errata’d to be tuners.

It’s dark type too so a lot of people activate super poly thinking they’re getting a Starving Venom off it.

Ash is too splashable it's damn near mandatory to run, but that's just because the game is at the point where every modern deck needs to be checked or they just run rampant on turn one.
Ash Blossom literally can negate 90% of all cards in Yugioh, plus it stops combos or even the start of a combo so easily.
Important clarification: It negates the EFFECT of the card, not the card itself. You will figure out the difference the first time you try to Ash a Danger! monster.

Valkries require a good amount of cards on the field to be menacing but I love the archetype and was one of the first decks I built in MD
As someone who has never played Yu-Gi-Oh outside of watching these videos Ash Blossom seems like the better card. For Herald of Orange Light you need fairy monsters for it to work and that might be limiting on what kinds of decks you can put the card in. It seems like you can use Ash Blossom in way more decks and that makes it very versatile.

You're correct! Another important thing is that ash blossom you only discard ash, herald tou discard 2 cards. That 1 extra card makes it so so much worse
I mean the easy out for me is that ash can be be viable in any deck and wreck shop… heareld not so much
I'm a valkyrie deck main and I think the reasons that they're not played much is because they don't have any built in negates and they're reliant on a few cards that can get negated easily. I love them and when they work, they work insanely well. But if your search or your ride of the valkyries gets negated you can often end up in a pretty bad situation. That being said, I think they're underrated and lots of fun.

Man I feel old. I remember when Yugioh battles used to last more than two turns.
Herald of Orange Light is worse because you have to send both itself and another Fairy type to negate the activated effect, whereas Ash Blossom only has to send itself to grave in order to negate activation/effect

I think a single ash blossom will have a larger impact, but also I play 3 crossout designator in almost all of my decks to negate hand traps, and I run ash blossom as well, so a herald of orange light will often times be harder to deal with because I can’t negate it even if I have crossout
I got sooo excited because I run Valks, they can be a lot of fun! I'm far from a pro, but my opinion on why Valks don't see more play is they struggle dealing with high attack monsters and a lot of the good cards in the archetype (like the turn skip Deion used) require you to have only Valks. So it's tough to use other archetypes or extra deck monsters to fill in the decks weaknesses.

0:50 hearald is too specific and -2 in card advantage but ash blossom is -1 and condition can be easily achieved
To be fair if you are running herald then odds are you are using it in a deck that will let you get to him quickly or get advantage from using it.

@@sponge3943 Herald stops Any MONSTER effect so if it's a spell or trap it dosen't trigger but Ash if it's a Spell trap or monster that does any of those specific effects listed then it stops then so but Herald is a minus an extra monster and depending on the card you throw away it could be beneficial or detrimental and Ash you just throw away Ash but both are good in different decks and in different circumstances

@@sponge3943 it very much depends on the deck you play. Herald can negate a whole card type but he can only see use in a specific deck, that being dryton, one of the most cancerous decks ever made

I use Ghost Orge & Snow Rabbit, it's good for cards already on the field, it negates activation of monster effects and continuous spell/trap cards and destroys them. I run them in all my decks, I don't use Ash even though I could for stupid amounts of negate.
Valkyries was the first deck I ever made, they're fun to use up until you reach the later Silver ranks where players only ever use meta decks. But Valkyries also need very specific hands so more often than not it can lead to bricked hands if you want to call it that. You can still get playable hands, but not enough to where you can get to take full advantage of Valkyries, Deion had a very specific combo with Athena and that's hard to achieve. I moved on and made a Kozmo deck which is leagues ahead of Valkyries and I'm able to stave off if not beat meta decks that players are so fond of.
I'll still use my Valkyrie deck after a rank reset and wait a few days afterwards. That's usually when you won't come across meta decks and you can actually have fun.

Also last comment. If you want to feel more evil run your sacred beast deck against his valkyries. The reason behind this is because Seereax's spell that forces his next battle phase can be negated by Cerulean skyfire just like super poly since it is a passive and not an activated effect.

As someone who runs a ritual deck, and just recently got ash blossomed four times in two back to back matches, three of which were in the first three turns of the first match. I think I have to say that Ash Blossom ticks me off more
To answer the negate question:
Now, I'm not a professional yugioh player, but, herald of orange light is only crazy in a deck like drytron. Ash, can be used in almost anything. Ash feels like the obvious choice but their are specific decks where you'll wanna go for herald.
It all depends. Also, ash is a once per turn and can be easily baited while orange light doesn't have that restriction, at the cost of being only usable in fairy decks, and drytron lol.
I've also seen people say that ash is toxic/annoying but she can be baited out so it's more of a annoyance if you dont bait her out, but if you got more searchers you'll be fine

Ash is significantly better because it's generic and can be play any deck, but orange is really great in fairy decks. It can discard a fairy card with good GY effect and have a ash and ogre simultaneous, the destroy effect it's really good.
Since i found Mischeif, valkyries have been my favorite archetype and i just found out that if you use Banquet of Millions and skip the opponent turn the cards stay banished, which allow to almost always clear the entire board and otk my opponents, fun deck ;)
The herald is for fair, it stops monsters and you pay a price, even if discarding a fairy is sometimes beneficial, it is still a price, blossom is just a free deny on anything.
Valkyries don't see a lot of play because most people who play, at least on master duel, invariably play to win and so will always pick a deck that has higher chances of victory, or lockdown, or something that just stops the other person from playing so they can win.
Valkyries look kinda strong OTK wise (and fun tbh), but next to meta which everyone plays they're less consistant and you'll more likely lose more than win going up against them because of mass negation, so everyone goes for the safe, samey option. Which, to be honest, has always been a thing in YuGiOh, it's just more widespread now and worse.
Regardless, seeing them kinda makes me wanna run them now.
The wrong thing Rhymestyle did with super poly was that the monster he originaly triad to use was uneffected by the opponents spel Cards and super poly`s activation Cannot be negeted nor its effect.The opponents monster effect did not stop super poly so that is the reason why things did not go your way

Hey read that Valkyrie card is the same name as the Valkyrie queen in GoW4 thought that was cool considering sigrun is actually second in command to none other than odins vanir wife feyja and I liked that that’s one aspect of true Norse myths that GoW didn’t change because when Freyja left vanaheim she named sigrun acting queen of the valkyries some outtakes from the differing versions of the tail the most common is that freyja used vanir magic to remove her wings and fused them into sigruns own wings to give sigrun the true power of the Valkyrie queen kinda cool

In Master Dual I got hit with the Mist Valley Apex Avian and Mist Valley Thunderbird negate combo and it’s the dirtiest combo. You have unlimited negates, there’s no limit. It’s actually an infinite loop.

I think the strongest negate in the game is placing your hand on your deck, as that negates the entire duel and you can do it anytime
I'll say that Herald is easily more annoying and generally more effective against certain decks, but Ash Blossom is so ungodly effective at shutting down combos early on that it basically shuts down most, if not all, decks' first turns immediately. I personally play HEROs, and while Ash can't stop specialized effects like Liquid Soldier or Solid Soldier, it so easily stops my more important effects like Stratos, Emergency Call, and ROTA. Herald is more effective within its own archetype when you have a field of negates and plenty of Fairy monsters to shut down anything your opponent does, not to mention GY effects to capitalize off of Heralds' effects.
Herald can only work is specific decks while Ash is more universal
The reason super Polly didn’t work wasn’t your fault besides the fact that u don’t read. His card on the field was Valkyrie Brunhide which is unaffected by opponents spells.

You already know ash blossom is insanely popular these days and it can work in most decks. I can't make the same argument about orange light so...
The reason why you couldn’t make construct in that last duel is because that specific valkyrie is unaffected by spells meaning super poly cant target it.
Rhongo is also probably the most busted negate card currently legal in Master Duel. Going first Rhongo is auto win like 98% of the time
If you run witch's strike you can use that against herald but not ash blossom, if you don't know what witch's strike does it destroys your opponent entire hand + field if your opponent negates the ACTIVATION of 1 of ur effects
Ash Blossom is way more effective because alot of decks have effects that it can essentially slap the opponent on the wrist for. Plus, you don't need to discard a fairy.

i would def say ash blossom is worse than herald
it stops more than just monsters and doesn't require you to play a certain type of monster to use it
plus master duel has that one pack that gaurentees you get 1, so it's super easy to get

I think red dragon mad king archfiend is the best negate. For context cause he’s a very little used card, he can be brought out any time in a resonator deck and it negates ALL MONSTERS ON THE FIELD AT THE TIME. Bro that’s so fuckin powerful for a card that’s relatively easy to summon since it’s just 2 tuners and a monster.
One of the valkyries biggest issues imo is if you get clapped by nib you're done. They also struggle with getting over any monster over, like, 2700 I think?
