Great skill to have. This is a fantastic way to impress almost anyone. I ran through it about 5 times and I was able to get it every time. A few hours work from here, I'm sure I can speed it up bigtime. Can't wait to try it on my kid. Thanks Brian!
This is Outstanding. A couple changes to my performance as I thought this explanation was unduly complicated towards the end. 1. I'd have them pick 1 card of their choice and 2. Bypass the 2nd card, volunteer guess thingy as it seems a little suspicious. In other words make it a simple I will find your card quickly trick. The running count, drop the 1's place is cool because it prevents a spectator from turning over cards to find a pattern. 3. Once I know value, only takes a second to find suit
Thnx a lot for this awesome trick. I'm dying for the whole deck version !!!!!!!! Please, teach the WHOLE DECK VERSION ! I'll do what you want. PLEASE, PLEASE. I'll even pay you a beer !
Just thinking about it, haven't even tried it. The hole deck adds up to 364. J=11 Q=12 K=13 So, applying the same concept, you add the cards. So, if you have a 10 you add nothing. Since JQK are bigger than 10 you take those 10 and add the rest. So with the J you add 1, with Q add 2 and with K add 3. For example, you finished counting the cards and you ended up with 6. Let's say your card is an Ace, so the count is 7. Now normally the other card should be a 3, but since the total is 364 you have to add up those 4, so you have to count to 14. 14-7 is 7, so the other card should be a 7. I have no idea if this works, but it should, so I'm going to try and see if it does.
Ok, it does actually work, but it's a little confusing in the end. For example, I ended up with 4. Then I lookd at my card and it was a Q. So it get's confusing wether I should add 12 or only 2. Since the count has to be 14, if I add 12 I reach 16, so I have to add 2, giving me 6. And yes, the other card was 8. Other than that, it's basically the same. When counting the cards in the deck, treat the J as 1, the Q as 2 and the K as 3.
Ok Guys. Thnx for your numerous and unvaluable answers :-) With so little help from you Friends, I could figure it out by myself : - J = 11 - Q = 12 - K = 13 When counting, 13 = 0. That's all, Folks !
So funny when he said "Us brain dead monkeys" And the guy in the tie got all serious looking like offended. Hes all "Im not brain dead, im Superman damnit!"
Wow. This is engaging, tricky and a labor of Fun. It's late so I will review this more in the day, however I suspect that I cannstreamlime this. If I reveal the card value and don't worry about the suit.
i love this trick because it is actually 100% true that you know it through the process of elimination. also, you can totally do this with a full deck too! just roll over the count (in this case subtracting 10 when it goes over 10) at 13 rather than 10. and to determine the actual value, again subtract from 13 instead of 10. just as easy once you get used to it. in fact, if you roll over the count at 21, you can do it with a full tarot deck as well. the thing is at that point, you'll be going through 78 (or even 80, since some tarot decks have jokers) cards, which will definitly get boring. not to mention that most tarot decks are no made for tricks like this, meaning itll be harder to read them. combine that with the absolute overdose of cards, and you are guaranteed to make mistakes! trust me, i tried another reason i love this trick is because it appears in De Viribus Quantitatis, the first book with magic tricks we know of, making it literally one of the oldest card tricks in recorded history!
In some cases, wearing a seatbelt can injure you worse then not wearing a seatbelt. My auntie got wrapped in hers when she was in a bad crash & it got wrapped around her neck & was choking her until her friend untied it
scam school do you know the trick where you can get a whole deck, and start turning over cards from the top and you can predict every single card that comes off? its like you memorized the whole deck... if you don't know it i'll give you a hint to try and work it out..."eight kings threatened to save nine fair ladys from one sick knave" if you like the trick and don't know it' i'll email you and tell you how to do it...its from an old magic book I found 20 years ago
A variation of the Diplopia theme! Harry Lorayne may well be involved somewhere with respect to the original publication of the idea and no one would dare to argue with him on this fact I am sure :) You can 'clock' the deck using base 13 which although it takes a little more practice/time allows you to use all 52 cards. It is a trade off. Some magicians have boasted that they can clock in base 10 forty cards in a little under 15 seconds. ???
Here's an idea. Use a marked deck. Why not? Your audience is going to think you're using one anyway. To really make this trick work, use a deck with blank backs.
This is a technique known as clocking. Unfortunately it doesn't come across as a good magic method or performing entertainment with cards. It has a detrimental effect on the performers ability to put emphasis on the presentation and there's way too much time and energy on the method. It's much better off used in the capacity as a bar trick to win drinks.
the only thing i dislike in the performance is that you opened all the cards and searched for the one missing one to find out the suit, before knowing one of the cards, that is not possible. In the explanation you show all the cards AFTER looking at your card as only then you know what the other card is and only then you can look for the missing card. A bit of clever montage to make the trick even be more insane than it really is, that is the only problem I have with this trick, apart from that it is awesome
It can be, someone I know survived a car crash because not wearing a seatbelt allowed him to slip down into the space where the controls are. (He drove under a large transport)
Going to take a wild guess and say these dudes work in IT and decided to go to the bar next to their work to pick up chicks and at the same time don't drink alcohol.
i love you brian ps i went and bought your ultimate marked deck and amazed so many people love you and thank you for being an amazing person ho is dedicated to the people who adore him (ps im one of them) and helping them whit cool tricks and puzzles and stuff thank you thank you thank you (one more time thank you )and i just wanted you to know that i appreciate it
Hahaha soo funny. Removing face cards, looking in the deck again, counting ridiculously slow. Your friends will think that you are an idiot rather than a savant.
why can't we use all the cards instead of just the "number" cards and assign numbers to the face cards? for example J=11, Q=12, K=13 and then the sum would be 364. In this case we see if the sum adds up to a number with "4" as the unit's digit.
When your running count is 1 the missing card can either be a 3 or a king or when your running count is 2 the missing card can either be a 2 or a queen I prefer not to flip and spread the cards I prefer to flip cards ine by one because I've seen people scan for cards faster than I can count but when I flip one by one they can't remember. adding the face cards is still flawed
Now wait a minute. When he did the demonstration he had the two face down cards and spread out the deck BEFORE he looked at his card. Then, when he did pick up his card he had the rest of the deck in his hand. At that point he could tell what the other face card down was but there was no way he could go through the deck to determine the suit. So did I miss something?
@rafathama dude if the final number is 9 then you are gonna look at your card, lets say your card is 3. then you'll do this math : 9+3=12=2.. now if you just add an 8 then the number becomes 10. that how you know the other person has an 8. dont substract 9 from 10. thats not how this works!
Like it but i kept it KISS. Take out face cards 2. They pick a card. 3. I go throughdeck with ones place count. 4. I know 10 minus my final xount is their hidden card value. I teied it ans it worls.
what if the final number (7:47) is nine but the cards that are faced down are the 3 and a 8 Then when you subtract 9 (209) from 10 it will equal 1 (211) So if you get the 3 you'll think they have a 6 or if you have the 8 you'll think they'll have a Ace. So how do you fix that problem
Does anybody remember that at the start of the trick, Brian said he was going to show us the "easier version"? I'm going to guess the other way involves face cards. Brian, will you tell us how to do the harder version?
in this version he subtracts 10 from the running count any time it goes over 10. the harder version simply does the same, but with 13 instead of 10. in the end to determine the actual value, dont forget to also subtract from 13 instead of 10.
+alienbob21 Learn to do arithmetic in tridecimal (base 13). Use letters (A, B and C) to represent ten, eleven and twelve. Then a 10 card is worth A, a jack is worth B, a queen is worth C, and a King is worth 0.

GOOD TRICK... Yeah, definitely gotta learn this trick... definiitely
Great skill to have. This is a fantastic way to impress almost anyone. I ran through it about 5 times and I was able to get it every time. A few hours work from here, I'm sure I can speed it up bigtime. Can't wait to try it on my kid. Thanks Brian!

Omg, I started watching this channel yesterday and i have almost watch half of the videos xD haha continue like this... Best wishes from argentina :D

Or you could count to 10 and make the last one up to 14. Works either way.
So funny when he said "Us brain dead monkeys" And the guy in the tie got all serious looking like offended. Hes all "Im not brain dead, im Superman damnit!"
This made me realize that my collectable Mammoth Cave, Kentucky cards are missing a 10 of diamonds! Oh no!
this channel is so entertaining and informative
Wow. This is engaging, tricky and a labor of Fun. It's late so I will review this more in the day, however I suspect that I cannstreamlime this. If I reveal the card value and don't worry about the suit.

This is called Deck Clocking. John Bannon on BAD has an excellend clocking routine.
been practicing. workswell.
ive seen so many whats your card tricks that do this in a much simpler way. This is hell of involved just to pick a card
In some cases, wearing a seatbelt can injure you worse then not wearing a seatbelt. My auntie got wrapped in hers when she was in a bad crash & it got wrapped around her neck & was choking her until her friend untied it
I am going to share this with teachers, to teach basic math skills to students!
AWESOME BACK TO THE FUTURE REFERENCE AT THE END, I KNEW BRIANS HAIR WAS CRAZY BUT I GUESS HE TOOK LESSONS FROM DOC BROWN!!

zeffman99 send it to me: brian@shwood.com
Scam School emailed you...I am...the Zeffman hehe
That honestly sounds really cool ! any place an irish man can find it?
zeffman99 can you mail that to me?
Vivian Kwan yeh give me your email
Better than the grey one, Loved the Dr Brown cameo also, would have looked better in a labcoat.
ok all these tricks r great but this one is awesome!
Good use of modular arithmetic

look who's trying to get a thums up by tell us to skip ads!!
a true fan watch even ads!!
I tried this trick like 10 times failing every time! Found an Ace in my face pile...
Could not for the life of me work out why this wasn't working. Turns out I had an extra 4 of clubs in the deck.
Here's an idea. Use a marked deck. Why not? Your audience is going to think you're using one anyway. To really make this trick work, use a deck with blank backs.
He blew your LOAD AWAY!
I think I need “I got a four though” on a soundboard
-you wanna do this?
-yeah ok,ill shuffle :D

Guy with tie: I already did it.
Host: *pretends to mishear*, I like not knowing how to do it.
I've been doing this for about an hour now.. I just couldn't get it! But then I remembered a card was gone....
Great stuff, very fun and challenging to perform well.
GREAT SCOTT!
It can be, someone I know survived a car crash because not wearing a seatbelt allowed him to slip down into the space where the controls are. (He drove under a large transport)
Or... marked deck? Or would the "volunteer" see something funny when shuffling a la "going to the movies"?
Going to take a wild guess and say these dudes work in IT and decided to go to the bar next to their work to pick up chicks and at the same time don't drink alcohol.
i love you brian ps i went and bought your ultimate marked deck and amazed so many people love you and thank you for being an amazing person ho is dedicated to the people who adore him (ps im one of them) and helping them whit cool tricks and puzzles and stuff thank you thank you thank you (one more time thank you )and i just wanted you to know that i appreciate it
Crazy, I have the coffee cup with the same Deadman's Reach logo on it from Raven's Brew.
@10:14
I just did it even with the high card (Jack, queen, etc.), its not really more difficult :)
@HungaryisBetter hey now, i fixed it!
Hahaha soo funny. Removing face cards, looking in the deck again, counting ridiculously slow. Your friends will think that you are an idiot rather than a savant.

Because that would be more difficult. I know some people can do that, but this card trick without the face cards is already difficult enough for me.
When your running count is 1 the missing card can either be a 3 or a king or when your running count is 2 the missing card can either be a 2 or a queen
I prefer not to flip and spread the cards I prefer to flip cards ine by one because I've seen people scan for cards faster than I can count but when I flip one by one they can't remember.
adding the face cards is still flawed
I would just do a running count to 20, seems easier to me.
this would be fun to mix with some slight of hand
Well, if it weren't for her seat belt, she would've flew through the windshield in that crash. At least she had a chance with the belt
So did I miss something?
the left side of my brain is killing me rite now!!!! OMFG!
@rafathama dude if the final number is 9 then you are gonna look at your card, lets say your card is 3. then you'll do this math : 9+3=12=2.. now if you just add an 8 then the number becomes 10. that how you know the other person has an 8. dont substract 9 from 10. thats not how this works!
that would be awkward if he got it wrong at the end after all that buildup hahaha.
(kidding,i love Brian)
The ends always make me laugh
So basically learning to perfom the complete opposite to a savant.
Commercial 1 5:00
Commercial 2 11:47
its funny because i am currently watching the 2012 San Francisco Giants right now in game 2 of the NLCS
Like it but i kept it KISS. Take out face cards 2. They pick a card. 3. I go throughdeck with ones place count. 4. I know 10 minus my final xount is their hidden card value. I teied it ans it worls.
Did you saw the tow little Brians fighting on big Braians shirt?
you should put your sponsors in your description box
Modular arthimatic!
Awkward moment when I guessed 3 of diamonds randomly for the second part and that's what Brian guessed too. O.o
+Simon opdebeeck It's still surprising.
That's a lot of work I would just use a marked deck. But pretend its some type of mathematical effect to cancel out the method.
when can brian come to a bar im at and scam me haha
Still need to count when u are able look at the deck? Can't figure 2 missing card?
This is so entertaining
+Streek Galaxy glad you like it!
I havent watched scamchool in a long time lol
Why don't they have drinks? Lol.
I know right. Im like wtf. 😞
Since Derren Browns bank account laughs at yours
ok ok I need a quick answer!! what do you do if the guess the card correctly?
"ah shit, well done, i'll buy you *insert drink of their choice*,but don't expect another one from me tonight"
I would just roll with it and act like that was the trick all along.
"but first let's toast to our sponsor"- dammit
No problem, just keep boats in the water and cars on the road ^_^
Wow, now I regret cutting my deck into shapes. Err.. screw you Kindergarden!
GENIUS!!!!
We use our whole freaking brain.
first time i tried this i miss one of the queens
that was the ONE card i pulled as the "mystery card"
Brian, the website doesn't work anymore. :(
show start 00:23
skip first ad 05:00
skip second ad 11:47
sorry about the other comment its was wrong timing
i thought the six of hearts when it started!!!!!!!!
That happens in 1 of every 100000000... accidents
Also.... Good trick for blackjack!
So basically I can be lazy and use my ultimate marked deck and never have to do any of the math. Woo less work!
HollywoodProperties yeah!
+Scam School Brian, what if they guessed it right? How would you play it off?
When I did the trick myself my card was the 6 of hearts
Next week we are going to learn to run from authority? O_e
dang i swear the guy in the black is really drunk lol hes wayy over the limit lol "7 of ace"
These dudes sitting at the bar but have no drinks...kinda weird.
would be be possible to do this trick with the face cards and use a base 13 numbering system.
what if the final number (7:47) is nine but the cards that are faced down are the 3 and a 8
Then when you subtract 9 (209) from 10 it will equal 1 (211)
So if you get the 3 you'll think they have a 6 or if you have the 8 you'll think they'll have a Ace. So how do you fix that problem

thumbs up for same tricks, new host. would rather read subtitles then listen to brian suckswood
so how do you do this with a full deck, including face cards?
+alienbob21 Learn to do arithmetic in tridecimal (base 13). Use letters (A, B and C) to represent ten, eleven and twelve. Then a 10 card is worth A, a jack is worth B, a queen is worth C, and a King is worth 0.

+armpitpuncture
You're right, but I've found it more intuitive to use T, J and Q for 10, 11 and 12. Many beginners will have internalised the J (jack) = 11 and Q (queen) = 12 values already.
Cheers
Since forever.....
What the fudge happens if they somehow get your card right? Cause then you can't guess the suit of their's? I guess you could play it off as people being able to do things with their subconscious, but still it'd be weird if you couldn't figure their's out.
no with blackjack you have highs lows and zeros then you have to keep the count etc
his count was even on his firs demonstration!
dude ! i was thinking 7 and 4!!!!!!
Wow the title is right.
This trick is ridiculous.
SHIT I RAN OUT OF ACID TODAY AHHHHH IM GONNA DIE
I chose the 7 of 8s too 🥴
Did this for my girlfriend with just one card and she spotted the one missing without knowing how to do it I'm a bit scared
your shirt ftw
