Pandit Jasrajji belongs to the generation who were the devotees of Indian Classical music. We shall be grateful to him time till the existance of human race,Dr giridhar pachade
For all who concerned about the thaal confusion, Panditji, informed it to Zakirji, before he started. Pandit Jasraj usually did this by his hand gestures,(look carefully at 00:20-00:24 but vedio quality has problems.) This was his usual method. This is seen in Pandit Maniram's videos also. Don't forget that Pandit Jasraj was also a excellent tabla player before he entered vocal. By the way these great musicians didn't have any personal quarrel due to this incident. So for what we, the audience argue after 35 yrs.
As viewers have noticed, Zakirji was not informed as to the tala so he deduced it was 7 beats and started playing roopak tala. Durga Jasraj is quite amused by his error from the beginning and tries to alert him at around 1:25. Panditji hears her and informs Zakirji that it is deepchandi . The lesson here is that the main artist should inform the accompanist when there is a possibility of confusion, either by announcing to the audience or whispering to the accompanist prior to starting.
I start listening it is soothing. We should appreciate the dislikers because They have listened and disliked. Some other day they will realise there mistake.
SUPERB ...especially the first Haveli sangeet in Vrindavani sarang, my most favourite one. I won't be doing justice if I don't appreciate Pt.Appa Jalgaonkar on Harmonium. How marvellously he palyed!!!!!GREAT....
They do not know me but it does not matter. I bow to them that their "Karma" has touched my heart and soul. Wonderful musical piece. I am really proud to be an Indian and our rich and deep cultural foot print.
It is sad to see someone like Durga Jasraj continuously laughing at the error, and if I may add, in very poor taste. Panditji is quite the gentleman when he informs Zakirbhai. I noticed that Durga continues with her laughs even after the switch has occurred. Thanks for sharing the video. It interestingly juxtaposes the difference in behavior between someone with a little inkling of Hindustani (read Durga) and someone who respects not just the music but the human being playing it (read Panditji).
At the beginning of the concert, she is telling something to Zakirbhai by making just lip movements. Probably she told him some wrong TAAL. So feeling embarrassed & laughing at her own mistake.
Only for them Hindustani classical music is very very very welllll...... None but them (not this 2 other but all of Hindustani classical music man) Thanks alot
I can't thank you enough for these beautiful uploads. These, in my humble opinion, are the best pieces I have heard in a very long time. Thanks for the clarification as well. You have an excellent taste. Please upload more.
Pandit Sri Jasraj's singing is ever captivating everyone's hearts. This song is just one example. Enjoy hearing. I am ever a great admirer of his songs. - "M.K. Subramanian."
Ustad Alladiya khan (and many other older singers) used to do this all the time. He never told the tabla player about the taal, in fact sometimes he made it hard for them (in the beginning) on purpose! It was like a game, they had to figure it out on their own. Zakir Hussain would've corrected eventually, he is knowledgeable enough😄
This is called Hindustani Classical (north indian classical) music, but I am not sure you could find your favourite composition. Better to browse through related videos on right. Some day may be you will reach it.
My honest question regarding the tala confusion is what was Pandit-ji doing for the first 60 odd seconds. He was also responding to the beats with his taalis and khalis for the first one minute. He should have nipped the confusion within the first few seconds only, but that didnt happen. Also if you notice, Deepchandi is 14 beats and Rupak is 7, so I wouldnt entirely blame it on Zakir-ji, since one is a multiple of the other.
Dr. Hazra I always find it impressive that tabla players can just pick up the taal within a few seconds. Perhaps Panditji was just looking for a good stopping point to inform Ustadji?
Prabhuji tum chandan ham pani, Jaki angh angh bas Samani . Prabhuji tum ghan ban ham mora, Jise chitvat Chand chakora. Prabhuji tum Deepak ham bati, Jaki jyiti jale din-rati. Prabhuji tum moti ham dhaga, Jise sonahi milat suhaga. Prabhuji tum swami ham dasa, Yisi bhakti kare ridasa.
It is Vrindavani Sarang. But you are close guessing it as Desh. The Aaroha is identical in both. Sa Re Ma Pa Ni Sa'. The Avaroha in V. Sarang is symmetric to Aroha with Komal Ni ( Sa' ni Pa Ma Re Sa). In Desh Avaroha is a bit wakra, asymmetric to Aaroha (Sa' ni Dha Paऽऽ Dh Ma Ga Reऽऽ Ga Ni, Saऽऽ)

It's not pure vrindavani sarang. It seems like a mix of both desh and vrindavani.
That's Samant Sarang, not brindhabani Sarang

This is Vrindavani Sarang
This is Rupak taal..
what do you call this kind of music?
youtube deleted one of my favorite and i dont remember what the singer/group was called T_T
1st part is Vrundawani Sarang or Megh sung in Kanada style?
Sur saaz aur taal ...
How this is malkauns?
First one is not malkauns, it's vrindavani saranga. Please edit the title.
IT'S SAMANT SARANG
but the first melody is a daytime melody, brindavani sarang.not the night melody of malkauns!!
यह बंदिश कौनसी है, कुछ जानकारी देंगे? :)
May I Know name of harmonium player
Its the late Appasaheb Jalgaonkar en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appa_Jalgaonkar
Do sitaro ka milan
This sounds more like Mian ki Sarang
It's honi sarang
Sam is on khali...snaps on taalis..
No
MERU
and then changes to deepchandi =)
I think the first composition is not Malkauns but Raag Desh. Would request someone more learned to clarify for everyone's benefit.
