Just watched the 1998 concert in Brazil. What a gracious performance..so impressed with the kind hearts of the members and John Schlitt's love for humanity. Watch it and see what I mean! God bless you John Schlitt for taking Jesus all over the world!!
After a Great Concert, backstage passes, autographed t shirts, & meeting individually, the biggest Christian Rock Band Ever, I must have been in some kind of "love", to be still be there at all lol. I went from being on stage with Petra, & a Christian Woman I was just Crazy in love with, seeing & being seen by the hometown peeps including surprising enuff, some top flight local Rock Musicians that knew me as a local musician in my own right, so I was on Cloud nine... I was in my own element, & totally comfortable. I'm trying to recall after years of just having Absolutely NO clue what exactly she was going through that ended with my being given the cold shoulder... I mean, she was tormenting me & I'm gathering signatures for her t shirt, introducing her to the Members.... Anyway, check this out...As John Schlitt was walking away to the bus after being last signing the t shirt and having been courteous enuff to sign & speak with us...he reached some 25 feet and suddenly spun on his heels and walked straight up to me again and with the look, & vibe of Say, bro...I noticed what's up...look, I can't tell you why she's being a bitch, but I'm going to show the Love of Jesus, Compassion, Understanding, & just lift you up 'cause you look like you need it Yesterday! I kid... but I'm not going to lie, I went from being a King, to being depressed & confused in the time of the show...& in the brief minute it took for him to sign that shirt, say goodbye, he was intuitive enough to get a sense of what was kicking my ass, at that moment...more like in the face l. then he was Real, a True Selfless Christian, who not only recognized the opportunity to make a difference in the life of a fellow Child of God, but to Completely Defeat the the little trick of Satan and I will Never forget it. I was Shocked, Honored, & Amazed at his Obedience to the Holy Spirit as I am sure that the Holy Spirit intervened on my behalf with a Show of Favor & Power. God bless you John Schlitt.
We know Bob formed Petra. But even without him, this is still Petra because this band always bring the heart and prayer of Bob on stage. Look... Bob is Petra, GregXVolts is Petra, John Schlitt is Petra. And the rest of the members and who became a member of this band made a great contribution to Christian Rock in Roll music.
I don’t care what anyone says. I grew up on Petra with Greg and then with John and Ronnie Cates on bass. The later was probably the panicle of the band. But, make no mistake. These young cats are Petra too! AND... they’re rocking just as much as the originals. Actually a little more.. I always loved Bob’s ability and leadership but he always looked stiff on stage to me. But that’s just one Petra’s fan opinion.
I saw Petra a couple times towards the end of their orginal run, once without Bob but with John S. Louie and possible Pete Orta not sure who else at the time, the last time was with John S. Bob and a couple of other guys from the Farewell show. They were both good shows regardless of who was in the group at the time. Petra shows and albums have always been good regardless of who playing or singing.
John stated managing the band soon after Bob left. It's not his Falt his new Band members left after 1-2 years. It blows my mind that anyone would leave Petra. The Old line up has Reunited several times.
How did you get to know Jesus?I'm getting ready to go to court in Buchanan county Missouri.im facing 2to 10 years in prison.no options.repeat offender.i can't overcome.always enjoyed your music.your band petra.saw you live in Lakeland Florida.good job.remember your song.save my life..I'm going down for the last time.good job.
I have been a Pethead since 1988. I loved "This Means War" and soon after "On Fire came out. In High School I started getting into the older Petra stuff. My thought is the there are nine Super Petra Albums (All four with Volz and the Albums from "Petra Praise- The Rock Cries Out"- "Unseen Power" and "Jekyll and Hyde" and "This Means War"). Hard to pin down what No. 10 is as there are several others which are just a small bit under those nine quality wise. I would interested what yall think.
Pethead since 1988 myself. The top nine in Chronological order. Never Say Die More Power to Ya Not of this World Beat the System This Means War Petra Praise-The Rock Cries Out Beyond Belief Unseen Power Jekyll and Hyde Like you, I think no.10 is hard to pin down...Maybe Petra Praise II...Possibly On Fire or Wake Up Call...Definately not Double Take
IPINAPAKITA NG BANDANG PETRA KONG GAANO KAGLING ANG DIYOS, MGA DATING MGA ADDICT, NA BORN AGAIN..ITONG BANDANG ITO ANG NAGPALAKAS NG AKING LOOB NA LUMAPIT SA DIYOS.1985 NARINIG KO SILA.
nagpapastor rin ako dito sa davao for 22 years , sa youth pa ako meron akong banda , christian rock, at mga kanta ng petra ang aming tinutugtug kalimitan at maraming iniligtas ng Panginoon
Nah. This was during the period Bob retired from touring. He joined them again before the band hung it up for good. Unless you're counting the "Classic Petra" aggregation.
I actually like it. It's a different style. Possibly punk rock? He seems to have some 70's style feel in some of the songs. These guys obviously had a lot of fun playing together.
Yeah John Schlitt and Louie always Petra and sound great. Unfortunately the rest of the band is a little under rehearsed and sloppy. Maybe just a bit green but the groove is ah...missing. Feels a little more like a few young Petra fans got up to jam with John and Louie.
Once a band changes so many of it's core members it's time to give it up and start over with a completely different name. It's hard to be the same band with no original or at least older members
I attended concerts in 1983, 84, 90, 91, 92, 2003, 2007. All of them were with Bob. All of the albums have Bob. I was not intimately aware of these "other" musicians until I see them here on RUclips. But I am enjoying it and wish there was more.
John Schlitt, bar none, one of the greatest rock vocalists ever.
My favorite for sure
No doubt about it.
Very good

The last time I saw Petra was in Clearwater in 1999. I miss their concerts

keep on praising the Lord, Petra!
Impecable, poderoso y genial!
Dream team te refieres a Jhon schilck , Ronny Cates, Jhon Lawry , Lou Weaver y por supuesto Bob Hartman???????
Petra Means Rock 2020
petra, Brazil loves you!!!

GOOD.. TULOY-TULOY LANG BRO: AKO NGAYON AY NAGPAPASTOR SA MANILA, 27 YEARS NA AKONG NAGPAPASTOR.
nagpapastor rin ako dito sa davao for 22 years , sa youth pa ako meron akong banda , christian rock, at mga kanta ng petra ang aming tinutugtug kalimitan at maraming iniligtas ng Panginoon
Was this in Bend Oregon? If so I was at this concert. It was the first concert I had been to. It was awesome!
Hi...I was there as well. Just curious - are you the K.C. Keeler I think you are? If so, even if not, it's very cool that you are into Petra.
WTH.... if it doesnt have BOB HARTMAN... it aint PETRA. Im guessing this is John's solo stuff.
Nah. This was during the period Bob retired from touring. He joined them again before the band hung it up for good. Unless you're counting the "Classic Petra" aggregation.
Bob wrote the songs, and played guitar for the albums, he just didn't tour. If you buy the albums, it will "feel" like Petra, because Bob is there.
What is the name of the song?
Praying Man
EVER NOTICE RUclips PAUSING CHRISTIAN AND MESSIANIC MUSIC? I'VE NEVER HAD IT HAPPEN ON ANY OTHER KIND OF CONTENT...THE AL GORE RHYTHMS HATE US, LOL!!!
It's just not Petra without Bon Hartman
yeah, even 2 and 3 guitarists can't replace Bob. this music is really good though... punk rock ??
the lead guitarist over playing on stage. Sometime he did not hit the notes very well because of this overplaying. LOL
He's good, but he's not Bob Hartman.
yeah... i don't like how he plays. Too far from the original esp solos :) @@theheadlessguitarist7
@@ianpyx6201 Same here.
I actually like it. It's a different style. Possibly punk rock? He seems to have some 70's style feel in some of the songs. These guys obviously had a lot of fun playing together.
Good guitar player, but the "taste of Bob" is absolutely not the same....you can feel it from the beginning ;)
Bob is just better, much better guitarist
Yeah John Schlitt and Louie always Petra and sound great. Unfortunately the rest of the band is a little under rehearsed and sloppy.
Maybe just a bit green but the groove is ah...missing. Feels a little more like a few young Petra fans got up to jam with John and Louie.
No Bob,no party 😄

I don't believe it can be Petra with out Bob or Greg
