This may be the single cleverest sitcom ever created. It functions as both a traditional sitcom and simultaneously as a satire of the entire genre. It should be far more well-known than it is.
One of the beers reminds me of brad it's called OLD RUSTY NUTS look at the pumps it's in the middle of the bar you've got to keep your eyes open like the specials board the soup in a basket was on today
Useless factoids: The episode features a "Shrine"... This show's co-writer Richard Herring (The crying voice on the phone and a postman later in the series) was the old double act partner of Stewart Lee in the 90's (who was the script editor on this). On their old show Herring comedically obsessed over a shrine of the actress who plays the barmaid in this, fell in love with her from afar in real life, eventually used this show to meet her, started a relationship he'd longed for over many years then broke up with her because it turns out she believes in actual fairies doing actual fairy things and he couldn't deal with such a mental case.
Wow- I don't think I've ever seen a TGP reaction before. Massively underrated show! I'm looking forward to this- you guys are great fun to watch. Enjoy it my beautiful Canadian friends.
I haven't watched these in years - used to be a thing we'd do, a couple of buddies, some beers and TGP, back when it originally aired. A lot of people don't know this is how Al Murray originally got famous - sure, he was doing standup, but this is the thing that made him properly well known.
This is a gem of a comedy, seen it so many times over the years, and now I can watch it with you guys all over again. The guy who plays the bean faced postman a little later on is Richard Herring, he wrote this with Al. So looking forward to joining you for the rest of the episodes.
It's one of my favourite ever shows. You guys have to keep going with this. It's great seeing people outside the UK enjoying it and giving it some love 😁
That's mad I'm English love al Murray yet never seen this only come across it because I watched you channel now I got to look for it thanks xx love your channel
This is at the top of my road sadly the pubs gone now and replaced by flats like most of the other pubs in the area, i remember when they were filming it
Brad, Lucy that was awesome except the part when Brad said the European onion or whatever it was at the end🤣🤣no seriously thanks guys I watched this with my young teenage son when it first came out, it's hilarious. Nobody (I don't think) has reacted to this which makes it really refreshing. Nice one 👏👏👌✌️🍻
It's a brilliant and often forgotten show. It only ran for 2 series, I say only but they did make 37 episodes, so considering most Series have 6 episodes it's pretty good going. You can see a lot of Al Murray developing his amazing stand up shows in this series (bear in mind these ran before he started majorly touring) Glad you found it, you won't be disappointed.
In a sense, it's probably a better version of the pub landlord character he would go on to achieve major standup success with because this version very clearly puts across the pathos and satirising the 'little-Englander' mindset that gets sorely downplayed when he's onstage.
I loved this show, another from around the same time that was also vastly underrated starred Johnny Vegas as a pot dealer, its called Ideal, its a very odd show, often dark or surreal but really funny.
We had SkyTv or satellite TV as we called in the 90's but only about 1% had it as it was expensive and very new so not many people watched this show I thought it was ok but not a fan of Al Murray at all he's close to right wing and racist and even tho he's kind of mimicking and taking the p out of it too many bigoted racist types patch on to him it's not a nice representation of the British imo As for double deck buses I drive them 😂 but double decker trains wow😮

All hail to the ale! 😂🤣👍🍺
Let’s hear it for the beer!
And the wine for the ladies
And welcome to wins... For the ladies.
I forgot Phil Daniels was in this! . . . Quadrophenia, amazing film, needs a reaction!
One of the beers reminds me of brad it's called OLD RUSTY NUTS look at the pumps it's in the middle of the bar you've got to keep your eyes open like the specials board the soup in a basket was on today
Yes! Yes! And yes! So happy to see this series finally getting some love.
Edit: I knew you'd love it, more please!
I lived across the road from that pub up to the age of 8. It was called The Cowshed. Al Murray wasn't there! It's gone now.
Guys you have to watch all these they are hilarious the greatest comedy ever in my opinion

Al Murray, his stand up is comic genius.
That's mad I'm English love al Murray yet never seen this only come across it because I watched you channel now I got to look for it thanks xx love your channel
I'd forgotten how good this series was 😂
You will love this. Watched it many times and always has me rolling round laughing.
Fun to see this the day after the Richard Herring's interview with Al Murray dropped into my podcast feed.
The Ozzie woman is actually English Julia Sawalha, who played Saffron in Absolutely Fabulous.
I need to look for outtakes from some of his stuff!
One of my fave shows. Thanks guys!!
I forgot how funny this was! 🤣👍
Haven't seen this show in years...thanks for the revisit

Brilliant, great reaction - he’s even better live, come to the UK soon 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I've watched all of Time Gentleman Please at least 3 times
Please do more! You can pick out lines and jokes he used in the stand ups you have already seen, and it gives a nice context.
It's about time someone watched this classic program 2 season to watch it's were he gets is act from the pub landlord it brilliant
Looking forward to the next episode reaction.
It's a brilliant comedy series.
I loved this show, another from around the same time that was also vastly underrated starred Johnny Vegas as a pot dealer, its called Ideal, its a very odd show, often dark or surreal but really funny.
Another from around the same time... The Smoking Room. (Before smoking indoors at work was outlawed)
Ideal was tremendous
You going to love this
You know we prefer the term, fanatical followers of the Ale-Queda network!
Rules is Rules😊😂❤
What a series TGP is!
Yes! Constantly repeated!
