I saw him live a few months ago in Bath [UK] , very funny, huge audience laughed so much ... however a few days later went down with Covid... thats the gift of laughter for you.
His stage presence is astonishing... added to that, the fact that 90+% of his 'routine' is _seemingly_ improvised (I'm sure some of it just seems that way), makes him phenomenally entertaining.

From cheesy one-liners to edgy stage controversies, we have it. Most of all, we like to take the mick out of ourselves - that is British humour at its best, in a nutshell. Obviously meaning a British Hazel nut in autumn, not a French Horse Chestnut that we have to pay over the top for at Christmas...!

He always tested new cars to see how fast they would get around the race track (he was a professional racing driver) but he never spoke or removed his helmet so there was a mystery about who he actually was - a lot of people thought it was Formula 1 driving ace Michael Schumacher (it wasn't). Eventually his identity did become known however.

Love Al,but this didn’t age well at all. The 2012 Olympics in London was voted best ever !! Went to two of the days and it was packed both days and atmosphere was lovely.
Al Muray is great but he couldn't have been more wrong about the 2012 Olympics. It was a feel good event that surpassed everyones expectations. It was a joyous event for pretty much the entire nation. He couldn't have been more wrong but in fairness to him everyone was a critic of the games prior to the event. Cynical and pessimistic is something us Brits do well too.
