All of the little dinks in the metal work really tells the story of what this wrench has gone through over the years. And it can continue to be put to use.
Before watching lemme say this: I went into this expecting thousands of comments related to TF2 Engie because of the wrench's look... I'm not disappointed.
I recently found one of these wrenches buried on my property completely covered and seized with heavy rust. It's cooking in the electrolysis tank at this time. Should be interesting. Thanks for the inspirational video.
I love these and I am a great lover of tool restoration videos. I wanted you to take it even farther. File a little bit of the rough edges of the handles and jaw, and polish this up. Keep going, my friend, and thanks for saving a tool form the heap.
Dude, should have taken that handle off first. The shaft is bent and it would have been a lot easier to work on it. But, I am glad you managed to keep the handle. Cannot beat that!
Thanks. I would have had to grind the handle off because it was not designed to be disassebled. You can see the bottom of the hadle is hammered like a rivet.
I actually have a wrench like this. soaked it in oil and lot of the rust came off moves nice. it has some dings, sadly yeah everything is used as a hammer at some at some point.
When I restore wrenches with that style handle I grind the pein off the end of the threads to unscrew the nut holding the handle in place. When you clean up the handle you can shave like 1/8 inch off the length to have new thread to pein back over after you reassemble. Those wrenches almost always restore beautifully with few complications.
I hope and pray that you may be able to save some money and buy some cool power tools Will save you lots of time and energy and give more time for more jobs
DIYCoolStuff Your method looked similar to a “foot detox” scam a lady worked on my wife using salt and an electric device in a tub of water to remove “toxins” during a foot soak. All it actually did was produce rust. I pointed it out and I was very unpopular. Good job saving an old tool.
Hey look buddy, I'm an engineer. That means I solve problems, not problems like "What is beauty?" Because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems, for instance: how am I going to stop some mean mother Hubbard from tearing me a structurally superfluous be-hind? The answer, use a gun, and if that don't work... Use more gun. Take for instance this heavy caliber tripod mounted lil' old number designed by me, built by me, and you best hope... Not pointed at you.
Oh, that was just supposed to be a joke since some people seem ti thing anything can be used as a hammer and this wrench was clearly previously owned by one of those people. Sorry if the text is misleading, thanks for pointing it out, I added a card to point that out for future viewers.
DIYCoolStuff oh my bad man lol Didn’t realize it was a joke I just take tools and mechanical stuff a bit too serious and bit too literal cuz people get hurt sometimes being stupid with tools trust me no ones ever past over me an angle grinder turned on when I said I needed it next lol
@@kleinburger137 That's ok. It's good to point out things cause, at least personally, I think it's always nice to learn from my or other peoples mistakes in these videos as I'm definitely not yet a master in this field.
We must get this channel popular!!

Why don't you give up. Partner?
thank you for saying this i was hoping someone would reference engie.
I am glad that you only cleaned it up and rendered it functional again, and did not try to super shine it into a museum piece.
Thanks! I would have had to remove way too much material to get a mirror finish
Hey now, some of us watch restoration videos for sand-blasting and S H I N Y
Great comment

amazing channel !!
We're now showing you a modern monkey wrench. In the very way it's been constructed. In what kind of shape that it's in. 🐒 🔧
Beautiful.
SPY MUST STOLE MY WRENCH
Nicely restored 👍🏻
The engineer is engiehere whaa haa ha ah
Hey, sometime may you make a restoration video of any old computer?
Actual question because I don't know the answer. Why wouldn't you just take the whole thing apart instead of working around the wood like that?
Because these wrenches were never intended to be taken apart after being assembled.
4:33 the toilet after eating taco bell
no polishing?
What metal file is being used at the beginning?
No disassemble?
Love what you do man, do you use these tools after you restore them?
The engineer is engihere
Engineer be like: now where the hell is my wrench ?
I'm surprised he didn't go full mirror polish on it LOL
Since this video is about 2 years old, I'm hoping someone has instructed you on how to use a file on steel.
super tare 👍🍨🍁🌹🍺
Every thing is hammer :-D , even my head :-p

Esto no es restaurar, debió de desarmar la herramienta y entonces comenzar la restauración. Eso fue solo un mantenimiento...

Looks like it has a slight bend to it from too much pressure being applied to it.

Do you have a video on how you do your rust removal?
I haven't made a tutorial type video on it but I used electrolysis on this one.

Should have taken it apart.
как такой ключ называется ?
разводной наверное
Why is it called "Monkey wrench" instead of just calling it a wrench?
You lost me when you rubbed both ways using your metal file.
Was that salt in the water?
Probably normal tap water is not very conductive. Salt water is much more conductive.
ordinary soda
Sorry to say but any kind of wrench is not a hammer and shouldn’t be used like a hammer if used like a hammer the wrench may have alignment issues
