I blame the manufacturer for this lol. I did the same thing for a while and wondered why the distribution wasn't that good. It's because they advertise it as having a lip on the bottom designed to fit perfectly into the portafilter, so I just assumed that was the best way to use it but way better when you hold it a few inches above the portafilter since it falls together better

Consider changing those puck screen to a thiner one. Those get dirty and it is impossible to clean.

These are 1.7mm, do you think that 1mm is thin enough? Or should I search for something even thinner ?

must the shaker be of certain material like metal? or it can be anything like plastic or 3d printed material?

I don’t think so. But I have noticed that the MHW Bomber retains some coffee on the walls compared to what I saw from Weber Workshops. You can try using a 3d printed on.

I am not an expert, but I have seen an improvement in the fullness of the taste to say. And it does make my puck workflow quicker and simpler, which I like.
