Great set from both Kola and quiK. While it is a shame that the French Players couldn't go, quiK still had a good showing. I do hope more European players, especially Leon(from France, not America) can come and showcase his Lucina in the states
Leon registered for Genesis 8, as well as some other top french players. Hopefully it can happen

Quik's samus was already cracked before his break. It’s incredible how he continues to push samus to new heights. I hope he gets to travel some more.

The weird tiny charges of the ChargeShot looks so weird
If you’re interested, lookup YB Dark Samus. He is hands down the best Samus out there, in particular his immaculate skill inputs are unheard of.

@@leefiey13 Nah, both him an Quik are the best. Quik has much more results as YB is pretty much Wifi only. But based on results alone, YB would not be the best samus.
God, I've studied quik's sets religiously, and even with how good he is he was playing out of his mind this game! But you could tell he just ran out of juice at the exact wrong moment, and kola capitalized. Damn this was one for the books.
All of his previous matches went to game 5 as well, man must of been running on fumes. Great set!!

I would consider that a wavedash, and it works in this game to set up grabs and punishes, just like in this situation

Peak Samus gameplay, nothing like the crayon eaters in quickplay. I wanted Quik to win, but what can I say, Kola is insane
It was pretty close anyway, both were a mistake away from getting blown of the stage.
Great set and awesome played by both of them. For sure, the best Roy and Samus mains in the entire world.
So happy for watching Quik playing the greatest leagues. His Samus's movement is incredible and really turns the character to another level. Hope to see him competing more at these big tournaments

Shout out to Quik cus he played outta of his mind but he played way too passive at times especially last stock and if he kept his confidence that he had throughout he might’ve finished it out
Sad Quik went out vs Kola. Was a hype set, last stock last hit (due to Kola bringing it back pretty hard).... If Quik shielded the side b and threw him off the stage, he would likely have won.
We're proud anyways Quik represented Germany and Europe really well. Going out vs Kola game 5 last stock last hit is no shame :)

Proto and Quik have shown that while no where near as useful as Melee, that Wavedashing and Landing still have some value in Ult
Its usually bad in ultimate but for characters with terrible rolls like Samus its still usefull because it actually has less lag
@@theimpersonator7086 Samus has a very commital roll (although tied for longest distance) and also one of the best waveland slides. It's not great for all characters.
Kolas shield game was really the difference. Incredible defensive play, didnt fall for any of Quik’s baits

@@_127N Having to approuch a Campy Character as a non projectile char and not having any good mixup tools to get around Samus Ledgetrapping has litterally nothing to do with getting baited. He has to approuch which means he is always in disadvantage upon approuch since quiK can react to his Approuch Options.
I don't know the timestamp but did anybody else notice that quik used bair to do a ledge cancel off the platform? CLEANNN

Did you link the wrong time or are you talking about the down air->fair miss->upair frame trap? I dont see an auto cancel upair, but the frametrap was clean

i love how both samus haters and roy haters dont realize how difficult it is to play at this level (obvious sarcasm i hope), samus doesn't just spam specials and roy doesn't just spam side b or aerials, these guys make use of EVERYTHING their characters have. sure it's not easy to approach samus, but samus also has trouble approaching, it's easy to approach as roy, but it's also easy to approach roy. yes samus has to camp sometimes, but it's not how she wins AT ALL, she also needs to approach to get a kill and i'd say quik is one of the more aggressive samus mains. roy haters are complaining about him "spamming the A button all the time"... well too bad that the MAJORITY OF ALL MOVES ARE ON THE A BUTTON. i never understood this hate, since people now also complain about his upb and sideb like bruh is he not allowed to use any good move anymore?

It's called tether canceling, pretty tricky timing to get it right

@@willycheez7218 You're correct; the way charge cancel zair works is by canceling an air dodge in the first few frames with grab. The grab comes out instead of the air dodge, which cancels the charge.

As a main Smaus player I am amazed by the movement Quik has with this character. But also there are some techs that he lacks off. There were non pivot grabs, and I saw some kill confirms from just a grab and Kola over shielding. Missed some Zairs on the last stock when Kola was jumping over the platform. Quik had to win this match.
I don't think he lacks any tech with Samus. If you don't see him use it, that means he chose not to utilize it for reasons only he knows

Nah it was sweetspot. If you look frame by frame, look at the frame before it connects and samus’s foot is close to roy

Man... as a Samus main... She has a MASSIVE disadvantage state when she's coming back down from the top. Drop bombs and pray for the best- your Dair won't save you lol

I have much to learn from Quik.
I had to pop off for Kola I was really feeling the anger from all those bombs and up b’s and safe on shield fairs(which props to Quic for playing the matchup even though it gets annoying) but I’m glad Kola was able to get through in the end and congrats to both for getting this far
The bombs are easily avoidable, the UP-B puts swordies like marth/roy in amazing positions vs samus - kola was baiting it out enough or was too confident hitting on samuses shield for free, and the fair is sure as fk is extremely unsafe. This match up is roy favored bud, if youre gonna be upset, atleast be upset for the right reasons. Especially with them playing on small battlefield lmao
Honestly can’t really say that , imo if you play Samus and min min campy enough or as good as quic did (just not getting nervous and messing up at times) they should be winning most matchups on that alone , every character has weaknesses but it’s the way how you play around them that matters
@@aldoperez23 That's not how that works at all. Most characters especially Samus, pretty much any character that isn't S+ tier has weakness. Samus is a Hybrid camper, as in she can put out a decent amount of projectiles but has to go in every now and then, in opposition to someone like duck hunt dog for example. Samus loses hard to rushdown. It is her weakness, because her projectiles with the exception of Charge shot are fairly laggy and punishable. Kola, while he is an amazing roy, it is really obvious to see that he is generally newer at this MU. Characters such as wolf, roy, marth, chrom (while on stage), lucina, etc can beat samus fairly easily. Rush down beats her slow projectiles (exception of charge shot) and slow frame data and Juggling samus in the air destroys gets you free % because her only real *safe* option is bomb mix up to confuse her opponent. If you know the MU it is EXTREMLY punishable.
@@EU-mf7sd Bad frame data 😂 she nearly has Snake levels of startup on all of her moves and even beats him on quite a few moves, and she lacks the endlag he has. Samus is one of the best boxers in the game, a top tier

With the exception of her Jab 1 and Up B OoS, most of her kit is either slow, has low priority, or is straight up unsafe on shield (or doesn't work properly, see sephiroth vs samus up smash for example). That doesn't make her a bad character by any means. Top tier? you're drunk. High tier, yes. I've played samus in melee, Project M, and Ultimate competitively. You can literally look up my tournament videos: Txukasa . This is the most powerful samus has been in any smash. Tier wise, shes high tier, but youre crazy if you think shes top tier.

There is definitely a need for commentators, and there is definitely an art to it.
1.) Don't speak long sentences about something that is 5 seconds ago, which, by the time I'm done done typing this, 3 other noteworthy things have happened. I'm hearing the past and seeing the present. Keep the sentences small and reactionary.
2.) Add more individual and varied personality between the commentators. Like whiz and boomstick, or like Skip Bayless and Steven A.

@@noirlavender6409 Byleth edgeguards roy extremely well. She has multiple moves such as backair that force roy to recover with up b. Then she can just grab ledge, drop from ledge, and snatch roy with an up b of her own.
Obviously quik wouldnt have been able to just pick up byleth and keep up with kola in neutral though.
