Wonderful job, but I agree, black stools would look better. They would tie in your darker upper cabinets. But what you currently have still looks beautiful!🧢

As someone who's always looking for budget-friendly ways to improve my home, this DIY Kitchen Island Build video was a goldmine of ideas. The presenter's tips for easy installation and maximizing functionality were incredibly helpful and I love that they used accessible materials.
You did an amazing job. So well-engineered and such a creative design. No one will believe you build rather than bought this functional professional kitchen island. DIY Princess
Island looks fantastic, and I agree with many others that black stools would be better. Most impressive, as someone else said, is that you made RED oak look so good and work in a modern kitchen. Neutralizing the pink hues and grain selection went a LONG way here. Excellent work. Thank you for the video.
It’s comforting to know there’s another DIYer out there who makes the same “sizeable” mistakes that I do. 😆 I would stick with the gold chairs. It distinguishes the island from the rest of the kitchen while the countertop ties it in. The black handles on the island also tie in nicely with the black themed kitchen. Maybe place some black themed lighting over the island to tie it in a bit more.
An Absolutely Amazing design and build DIY kitchen island project! I especially appreciated your exceptional Craftsmanship on custom designing each item to meet you and your family's household needs! Well done!
Oh wow! 😍 I really love that you had the oak for the kitchen island, and didn't make it dark like the cabinets against the wall. Because now it still looks very spacious even though islands tend to be very large/bulky looking! And the black cabinets frames it all very nicely! As for the bar stools, I think a black base would complement the door handles on the other side of the island really well, especially since the doors on the stools' side don't have any handles. But gold is very fine too! 😊
Whoa, beautiful island! Very functional, you thought of everything and then some. Your attention to detail is always so impressive. Hidden storage across the stool side, good addition. Nicely done! Stools - I vote black - will match the other cabinets and handles on the island.
a microwave with a top-loading drawer? i didn't know that such a thing existed. that makes relocating a microwave to somewhere lower than countertop level (or higher) a no-brainer. very slick.
They look great! I am always impressed with how easy you make it seem but extremely thankful that you include all of your “learning opportunities.” Thanks for all the great content and tips…like in this video the idea to use Carpet Tape blew my mind…I have been struggling to finish a project recently where adding the drawer facing has been driving me nuts. Thanks
🧢🧢🧢 Great work! I love the perfectionism. I can't tell you how many times I've redone something instead of leaving it with an issue that will drive me nuts every time I look at it. My vote would be for black stools. 🧢🧢🧢
A superb job Melissa. The design and the execution were outstanding. Love the colors in your kitchen, but I do agree that black stools for the island would be more cohesive.
Great build. As someone who has done tons of DIY carpentry work in my home (crown, casing, board and batten, ect), I can tell you that building cabinets is a whole other level. I had to completely rebuild the drawers of a bathroom vanity I built because my measurements were off by 1/4". So I feel for you when I saw you were off 1/8th of an inch. Ouch. I agree that the stools would look better with black bases instead of the gold.
Yeah, the stool bases would look better black. Better contrast and it would tie the kitchen together. It would be a great finishing touch. Nice work on everything! Huge upgrade.
Red oak takes stain very well, but if you’re trying to match existing oak woodwork, good luck. Quite challenging. Nice job on the cabinets and pocket screws.
Another awesome job Melissa! You continue to amaze me. In my opinion, black stool bases would look a whole lot better than the gold ones. Btw why did you stop doing the live format of your projects. I really enjoyed that.
Great work Mel!! Looks superb and you should be very proud!! That is an incredible project to make! Personally am not a fan of gold, it is too over the top, look at me stuff. Quality work and products don't need the glare. For me the black would add the timeless quality that you are looking for. But again it is a personal choice. Thanks again for sharing and congratulations! All the best to you and your fam. mike-barcelona
I would take the cushions off your stools. Then get the paint called plasty dip. And paint them black. This type of paint is very durable. So much that people would paint their rims and other products on their vehicle. And it survives the outdoor elements. But if you ever wanted to change your mind. It actually peels off with a little bit of effort. In other words, it’s not permanent. This way you can keep the style of your stools, which I like very much. And still get the color and design that you’re looking for. Here in Nebraska, I purchased the plasty dip spray paint at my local Menards
Very impressive island, it looks very professional. That's way out of my skill level to attempt. I'm actually right in the middle of doing my staircase remodel that I got inspiration from your video on. Waiting for stair tread stain to dry. Thank you for your channel, I have learned alot from you.
Great video Melissa. Funny that you think that your island needs to fit in a smaller than average room. My entire house here in England would fit in your kitchen😂.
Mellissa, your island looks great. After building a cabinet without a toe kick I've always had one thereafter so I wonder how you'll end up feeling in the long run. You also might consider painting those stools black although the shape will make that difficult. I don't want these two comments take away from the fact that overall I'm very impressed with your final outcome. Thanks for Sharing! 🙃🙂

Looks fantastic! I agree, black on the chairs would not only tie into the upper cabinets, but also the hardware on the island. Great job!
Black for sure. You are amazing with everything you do. You are so creative and have an eye for detail with all your builds.
Stools with a black base would really look great but what you have is awesome! Excellent job!!!!!Your videos are the ONLY ones my wife and I can agree on watching together!😃
Aww best compliment ever!
Fantastic job, I have a sincere admiration of people who are building and customizing stuffs instead of buying.

I love the stools you have! They add more lightness to the space! No need to have black legged ones. I think these look beautiful!

Black stools for sure! Amazing amazing amazing work!!! Holy Moly, you should be so proud of yourself!
Very nice! Yes, I totally agree on the black stools (perhaps even black antique-style iron). Amazing job, as always!
I like the gold. I think it adds contrast to all the black in the room.

Black for sure. Love the island.
Wish I had that island!!!! It's Beautiful!!! I think black base chairs would look great in your kitchen, but you do you and you'll do it right!
The step-by-step instructions and clever tips made it seem surprisingly doable! Great job!
This is beautiful. A ten minute video…so much work and time in this project. You are amazing. 🧢🧢🧢
Thank you! 🙏
Wow! I love that island. So much storage and efficiency. I think black would look better, but the gold are nice too

Black base on stools, for sure! So jealous. Want to do this to my island! Excellent job!!!❤
Blumotion soft close is great! I added Blumotion through my house several years ago and am really enjoying the quiet.
Great job Melissa love your kitchen thank you so much for sharing enjoyed watching

I like the gold. It adds a little pop of color

Awesome island build. Yes the black would look better and tie in with the black handles on the cupboards.
Way to go turning red oak into something acceptable for a modern kitchen! And yes, black stools. Kitchen looks great!
Yes black stool bases would look great
Working with hardwood is always difficult you've done an excellent job and I love your barstools easy easy and easy out enjoy your content always
Great job. I think the contrasting stain colour on the island works really well. Excellent build quality overall! 🧢

Agreed; black base bar stools would be better! Well done on this build - it’s beautiful!
Not only did you complete the kitchen, but you also created it yourself! Beautiful DIY.
Your skills as a DIYer are really growing nicely.

Black Stools for sure since the gold competes with the other finishes. Love your videos. Once I get a house, I want to try some of the things you did.
Love it!!! That is super nice and you did a great job Melissa. I would go black for the stools.
Black stools. It is impressive seeing how far your skills have developed over the years. Well done

Definitely black!
Yeah, the stool bases would look better black. Better contrast and it would tie the kitchen together. It would be a great finishing touch. Nice work on everything! Huge upgrade.
Go with black stools. Great job on the island . It has inspired me to build one of my own.
Red oak takes stain very well, but if you’re trying to match existing oak woodwork, good luck. Quite challenging. Nice job on the cabinets and pocket screws.
Black for sure
Beautiful job! Amazing! I would go black with the stools.
Wow!! Your island looks amazing!!
You're darn good! I really like your approach to DIY
Colorful (maybe even a fabric with a pattern) stools with simple black base would look very nice.
Beautiful! Well done🎉

@@WelcometotheWoodsBlog Ok I guess I'm a rarity.. Anyway keep up the good work. I look forward to your videos.
That is gorgeous!! I am not a designer but I would probably go with black stools ❤
Gorgeous! just gorgeous! I think black stools would match your kitchen much better than gold.
The stools are fine. Enjoy life! Thanks for the awesome video.
That’s amazing! Wonderful job 🎉
Also, the gold looks superb
The island turned out beautifully. I agree that the stools are not quite it. I think black would definitely work.
Bloody marvelous. Thanks for sharing. I think black for the stool legs would work better.
Only change I would have made is to the top.
The corners should be even softer. Larger radius cut.
Reduce hip bruising.
Otherwise wicked nice!
Thanks for sharing the process
Amazing work...very well done. You make me feel ...I don't know the word.🎩🧢

Very clever tip.
Wow! You did so well😮
Your work is amazing
I would have chosen Black but I think you chose well with Gold. It adds a little something extra..
Great job looks amazing 🧢
Beautiful Job! Definitely go with stools that have a black base instead of the gold.
