Whats happening guys, hope you are doing well, here's my first ever attempt at a watch mod. Let me know what you think of the end result. Also huge thanks to you guys who continually support the channel.
N-O-D-E did some pretty comprehensive mods for the Casio F91W, they're pretty cool. What I remember is that he added RFID, Changed out the LED to a much brighter one, and reversed the display (black background).
I doed this in a fake f91, and even put another led by just bridgeing with 2 cooper treads worked beutiful ... But wasn't propperly weldee, led falled xd Will buy some more to fix it
I've swapped modules in 2 CA-53 calculator watches to make a green positive display version, I sold the black with negative, takes about 3 minutes. I recently oil filled a MRW200 which while messy isn't actually that difficult, it's an awesome look & is still ticking (bang on every single mark) 2 months later. I've also cleaned the inside of the crystals & dials on a few watches I wasn't happy with though a disaster with a Vostok getting the crown back in recently has tempered my enthusiasm a little, be warned if you're thinking of cleaning a Vostok, the crowns are a bugger to put back in.
nice mod, worth it to try. anyways one can get a new casio or skmei for a small price, but yes that's the biggest problem. thanks for showing this I've looking for someone to actually do it whole day, thanks
Keep a magnet laying around on your desk mate its a huge help when doing watches/fiddly stuff. Honestly can't believe it took me so long to realise how much easier it makes working at a desk with tiny screws. Hope this helps
You didn't mention the most interesting thing... You have a positive LCD display that lights up only the numbers as if it were a negative display. Outstanding look. I've seen Casios and Timexes do this on very rare occasion. It's the best of both worlds and I really wish I understood how to make this happen. It's not as simple as going from a positive to a negative display or vice versa. There's more to it than that. Wish there was a video for that. But nice work on this watch. You have quite the unique F91 now because of that backlight. 👍🏽
I think there's a polarizing filter on the LED that's rotated 90 degrees to the display's polarizing filter so the light only shows up where the digits are.
You are actually a genius lol I’ve been wondering this mod for ages. Just a swap from the SKMEI casing and put inside the F91w’s casing. I thought why has no one thought of this before or made a video and I suppose because it may not fit but you have shown it does, or almost and just as good as it can go. Does the alarm and beep sound still sound ok?
Thanks, I'm not sure about genius but the alarm function works just doesn't make a sound unfortunately. Think I might have broken it during the teardown, but next one I'll know not to do that.
Mine works fine. The only thing i recommend to do is grab pliers and flatten the contact tabs. Otherwise the bends in the metal prematurely contact the board also resulting in stiff buttons. Flatten them and its a dream.
Well it can be done. Before you attempt this, be sure that you checked the accuracy of the skmei module because many skmeis are really bad. They are worst than mechanical watches. The may gain or lose 10seconds per DAY.
HELLO WES , GOOD IDEA FOR COSTUMIZER YOUR CASIO F- 91 . IT ' S GOOD , IT ' S ALL RIGHT . VERY FINE . WELL DONE . I LOVED YOUR NEW DIGITAL WATCH CASIO ! . 😉👍😊👌
They sell these little trays, for people who make necklesses. It's just the flat sheet of plastic, that has a main work area, and dozens of little pockets on the side to hold small parts. The tray has slight walls to catch things if you drop them. My girl friend has one, and she tells me to use it when I change my batteries on my watch. I never listen. I was changing the batteries on watch I had since I was eleven, and dropped two screws. No my watch doesn't work. They are very cheap. I wish I listened.
Thanks mate and why Nutella? But it sounds like you've dabbled a little. Hopefully if the next one I have planned goes well, I'll be tackling a more in-depth mod
@@WesWatchRoom I have been searching up and down. Please if you have a moment and can find the link I would be very grateful. Some of my Casio models can not accommodate the thickness of s rubber strap. This one seems perfect? Do you own a Casio a168? I tried to get generic silicone strap and learned that although it's a perfect 18mm lug width, it would not accept the rubber.
Recently my f91w's straps finaly gave out after 3 years of daily use. I replaced it with the A158W basically the stailes steel version and I thi k I have a use for the old watch now
I once tried the hydro mod with a Casio MRW200 absolutely the messiest thing I have ever done haha, the result was pretty cool but it took forever to clean the watch afterwards 😂
@@WesWatchRoom no i didn't that was pre RUclips channel. Would I do it again but film it this time? I mean, the backlight isn't bad enough for all the trouble, I can still read it in the dark, it's no indiglo but it is fine. Cool mod and all but jeez man. Just explain it up front

Thats all I wanted. A F91 with a proper backlight.....
Absolutely and same with everyone else too
Buy a Casio a700 👍
That would basically be a F-105
A F-91 with good light and even 50 meters WR? That's called B-640W (or B-650W if you prefer it bigger, more masculine and not so "unisex")
All I wanted was for the two watches to be synced up...
i did this with a blacked out case mod from a casio i bought before.. it looks so freaking cool now with the new backlight.. easiest mod ever
I bet that looks awesome and you're right, such an easy upgrade to do. Appreciate you watching

Very nice, sounds like you've done some cool stuff. It's definitely quite addictive watch modding.
I agree with you on that, the crowns are a pain to get back in

Nice job! I've tried fiddling around with my Casios but quickly realized I don't have the patience nor the dexterity to complete a mod. 😆 Great video.
Yeah it was actually easier than I thought once I knew what to do. Thanks very much
Easier to buy f-105 :D
But the idea is great! Cool!
That's very true, but no fun.
Some people may find it stupid but if it's for your own DIY project it's fun :)
Definitely agree, modding is fun and a great way to upgrade the watch too
A F91 with a goodbacklight is a f105, nice mod, like a reverse of f105 when you use the backlight.

Cheers mate and for a first attempt it went well but I'm sure it could be done better
im looking at doing this. bought the skmei 1412 watch to replace the lcd for the much better light
The module from the A-700 is a drop-in fit for the F-91 case.
Well it can be done. Before you attempt this, be sure that you checked the accuracy of the skmei module because many skmeis are really bad. They are worst than mechanical watches. The may gain or lose 10seconds per DAY.
That didn't really matter, I just wanted the better illumination, its only my beater watch so accuracy wasn't a concern.
Just get the F105-W 😄
Very nicely done 👍👍
Thanks mate, I really like how it turned out
Swapped out the module from a Skmei clone to an f91, for tbe improved backlight, unfortunately the Skmei has poor accuracy.
Looks cool 👌
Thanks very much mate.
How’s the accuracy compared to casio module
It's good but not as good as the original

The silicone strap looks nice, what size is it? I can't find the aliexpress link in the desc
Bro i Loved tour mod, where can I get that beautiful strap you got on that f1w?
It's from AliExpress. I just searched for an 18mm silicone strap and this appeared
I wonder if the LCD is swappable from both, I have ordered different variations to try.

Why not just keep Skmei 1412 instead of all that work? 🤔
0:01 sec what's up ni**# people😮
Now you have a fake f91w😂
Does this work for the a158
Possibly as I think the module is the same as the f91w, so as long as the case is the same size, should be fine
The EL backlight uses battery up to fast, Casio dropped it for that reason alone
Modding a ten quid watch can only increase its overall value by 15000% with any decent strap 😂
I dont know why they don't just re-release the F91W with a decent night light. Maybe call it the F92W.
