Hey there, I recently discovered your channel and I have to say you make great content I really loved your videos of the analysis of the screenplay of Fargo and The Godfather, and I also loved that you did an analysis about an Indian film. I hope your channel gets more recognition that it deserves, lots of love from India.
Thanks for the nice comment, Vaibhav!
Finally, an indian film. I think 'Kahani' by Sujoy Ghosh sir and 'Andhadhun' by Sriram Raghavan sir would be best indian movies to analyze. If you like sir Guillermo del Toro's films. Then I definitely recommend 'Tumbbad' by Rahi Anil Barve sir.
Thanks for the info, Amiy!
I second Andhadhun ^^^
@@ScriptSleuth I would suggest the Malayalam movie Drishyam (Part 1 ) as well.
@@ScriptSleuth pls make a video on citizen Kane and all about eve, annie hall, some like it hot
@@souravmalhotra9351 Great choices! 😎
If you guys haven't seen it already, there's a great scene breakdown by director Nitesh Tiwari of the showdown between Mahavir and Geeta:

Daniel, thanks for all the quality content you have posted. I've learned more about writing from your videos in 8 months than my entire school life
@@HistorywithHannibal You're welcome, Aniq! (But really, we have to thank the screenwriters of these great films.)
Daniel, if you want another Indian movie to cover, I highly recommend Bahubali: the beginning
Make a breakdown of "care of kanchenapalem" one of the masterpiece of Indian cinema
Underrated Channel and work.
Cheers, Martin. 👊
Ship of Theseus.. ultimate movie from India
I watched the movie over the weekend and it was as amazing as your video
brilliant! came to see the script analysis of "The Apartment" and was pleasantly surprised to see dangal covered. Would love to see more analysis of indian cinema. please cover satyajit Ray's works among others. thank you for taking the effort for churning out these gems of video.
Thanks for the wonderful comment! Have a great day.
A pleasant surprise.
What are some other films from India you'd like to see analyzed?
Three Idiots?
tumbbad - 2018
Hey! Never expected you to do an Indian movie, love it.
I'd personally recommend Drishyam. Indian movies usually have this problem of being overdramatic, having forced romantic subplots leading to tonal inconsistencies; but this is one rare instance where the movie is focused on what it's trying to do. Don't have much experience with movies (more of a tv show guy), but I'd say it's one of the better ones.
@@therohitbabuofnotre-dame7182 Definitely 🙂
@@wrathX3 Thanks for the recommendation!
14:00 it is not sand . she gave him 'prasad' . it is any sweet given by the priest after a prayer . it is considered lucky and contains blessings . Hindus often eat 'prasad' before something auspicious or important .
Thank you for the clarification! 👊
i love that u choose an indian film finally!! if u ever think of making analysis videos of more indian movies, i have a few favourites of mine:
1. Andhadhun
2. PK
3. Ra One
Thanks for the recommendations, Ishika!
Ra one?? Really?
It's Really shit especially in Second half.
Can you suggest how to write perfect edge of seat thriller screenplay or any any books, movies etc
Can u do 'Rang de Basanti', it's one of my favourites. Would love to see it in your videos. Thank you
I know another movie where there is an antagonistic society, Silence of the Lambs. You covered it in a previous episode
Yes! Clarice is a fish out of water in the uber-macho world of men.
Hi man, when is the next video coming out?
15:03 actually, the coach wanted Geeta to win A medal no matter which one it was
please analyse screenplay of gangs of wasseypur......
I still need to watch that movie. Thanks for reminding me!
Legendary movie
It would make for a great video!
No, at 13:00 it isn't actually a sand, it's a prasad. Think of it as equivalent to holy wafers.
Cool, thank you for the clarification! (But wouldn't Mahavir have known what it was?)
Yes ,everyone in India, especially Hindus knows about prasad.
@@ScriptSleuth actually sweets can mean a lot of things in hindu culture . when she gave it to him , she just said that these are for geeta but didn't clarify why was she giving it to her .so mahavir was confused bcz sweets can also mean that something good happened to the girl just like the scene where the man gave mahavir sweets because he had a boy .so he asked her what is this (more like why are you giving me sweets bcz he obviously knows that those are sweets .) she basically gave him prasad which is any sweet given by the priest after a prayer .
Cool, thanks for the insight. I'm sure a lot was lost in the translation as well.
I haven't watched the movie, but after this analysis I definitely want to.
I recommend it. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me inspired. That's when you know a movie did its job well.
Totally agree 💯
No doubt, dangal is one of the greatest movies from India.
great one
Hehe....good to see this...❤️
🙂
recommendation- you should watch gangs of wasseypur . it is the only indian film to be on the gaurdian's 100 films of the century so far
That's definitely on my watchlist!
You should try Raj kapoor 's AWARA (1951) . NOT ONLY IT WAS HIGHEST GROSSING MOVIE IN INDIA BUT ALL OVER THE WORLD THAT YEAR
Thanks for the suggestion!
doing one with Boogie Nights would be cool
Plzzz make analysis on Titanic & why is it called one of the best love story .
Already on the list!
@@ScriptSleuth Ohhh that's great
I miss Script Sleuth!
thank you for this excellent work. can you help us understanding two other movies from India if possible? Jersey (Telugu language) and Visaaranai (Tamil Language)
Thanks, Andrew! I'll check out those movies you mentioned.
Watch Jersey Telugu movie
Will do!
Watching the movie first, then the video. Thanks!
Hope you enjoy the movie. Let me know what you think!
@@ScriptSleuth Great movie and as always great video!
@@Jeredos Wow, that was fast! Glad you enjoyed it.
do you watch only movies or do you read novels and short stories as well? i mean, we can learn a lot about storytelling from them as well.
I definitely read novels, too, and I agree that there's great stuff to learn from them. The problem is, how can I make a video out of talking about a book?
@@ScriptSleuth @Script Sleuth I will say start with Shakespeare. He comes very close using storytelling techniques to their peak. This movie, Dangal, I watched after its immediate release. To be honest, I was bored. It lacked intense feeling. May be you liked it too much, I dont know but there are other movies written by top writers that I think can beat Dangal on every turn. Have you watch Davdas 2002? This story has remade retold as movies, almost 16 17 times. Piyasa, Sholay, DDLJ, are all worth your time. BTW are you a professional writer? (I won't mind sir if don't wanna answer). Still, Thank you.
Have you considered covering Beauty and the Beast 1991? The 1st animated movie to be nominated for Best Picture
That would be great!
@@ScriptSleuth thanks bro
Do, analyses of bahubali Movies. It is the second highest-grossing movie after Dangal. You may already see memes made from these movies.
Thanks for the recommendation!
I love your videos please could you do an analysis of
one flew over the cuckoo's nest
Oh, man, the one is DEFINITELY on the list!
Watch Kannada movie Godhi Banna Sadharana Mykattu. It's a wonderful movie.
Thank you for the suggestion!
Please make a video on Rrr
Thanks for this brother! Try to analyse Pather Panchali probably the best film ever from India
Saw it!
Haider, Maqbool please
pls do a video about The Sting (1973). its prolly one of the best written movies of all time. and yea also im a fan and i watched all of you videos.
Excellent suggestion! That's definitely one of my favorite movies, and a killer example of dramatic irony and making the audience constantly want to know what'll happen next.
@@ScriptSleuth i hope u make one in the future 🙏
Lord of the Rings pleease
