Days Gone Bye is about the best short movie involving "Zombies". If no other episode had been filmed it could have stood alone. Isn't it ironic that some of the elements of Darabont's planned second season were explored in Fear the Walking Dead. I can see why he sued.
Honestly I think that if season 2 was going to explain Atlanta’s fall and show the beginning of the epidemic, that would probably be lite to see. Probably more interesting than at the farm. I mean season 2 was good but now hearing this fall of Atlanta story, I feel the show would’ve gone some place better if we saw that
I'm glad I finally found this story somewhere. I heard about this cancelled idea years ago, and I was always sad that it never came to fruition. A similar story, about the walker which Rick returns to kill near the beginning of the first season, really makes you feel for these things, the walkers who used to be people. I'm always thinking about stuff like this as I'm watching or playing through similar stories. What happened to cause this situation? Random circumstances, complete coincidences, or the kind of actions which have influence on those who follow when you're dead or gone? Such a shame. I really love Sam Witwer as an actor too, so it would have been great to see him at it again.
That still doesn't answer what happened to the military. The military is more than just the Army. The US Navy has around a dozen aircraft carriers, 60 or so destroyers, about 20 cruisers, and I haven't even mentioned subs and other vessels. The point is, we're talking tens of thousands of people, and as well, a zombie plague as depicted on The Walking Dead simply wouldn't spread on a ship like it would on shore, because people rarely die on ship unless there's some kind of accident. Then if someone were to die, it's already been established a walker doesn't climb ladders very well if at all, and military naval vessels are filled with ladders from stem to stern with watertight doors at the top of most all ladders. Personnel could easily contain an outbreak on a naval vessel of any nation's navy.
To me I wish Rick keep his sheriff deputy uniform because when I saw him wearing it to me it shown that there's still hope and that he still can main tain law and order in his group hes in but scene he left the farm and took away his new Alexandria police department uniform now I know the hope is gone
Too bad he burned it. I think him burning it was a sign that nothing was going back to normal. Think about his "we don't kill people" thing and how he killed 2 people in the bar.
@@ladiesman743 those were the first people that tested him. Also considering that he was a police officer post apocalypse he clearly was comfortable with killing. Also bear in mind the circumstance. He did not want to kill anyone who he believed was not a threat unlike those people in the bar.
Nicely put. Once he lost his uniform, he definitely lost his humanity vs the earlier episodes. It went from protecting everyone possible, to his own like the rest of us.
Yeah I mean since we already know how he did with season 1 and how he would have started the second season, imagine how he would do with let's say hershel's farm or the prison or the governor or all out war between Alexandria the kingdom and the hilltop vs the saviors or the whisperers or the Commonwealth, probably more close to the original comics, and definitely better than the stuff we got
There are a lot of reserve units and state guard units in the VA/DC/MD area, that would've still probably had med supplies, ammo and firearms, because most people would've tried to flee the city.
I think they did eventually return to Atlanta (cop story arc), right? But there were no guns or tanks left or they totally ignored them for some reason..........as for driving a tank, the internet says that if you know how to drive a car, then you know how to drive a tank. Gearing is automatic, a bike bar for steering and brakes, gas pedal to giddyup and go. The only problem would be the plane like assortment of switches and knobs that are used for things like starting the engine and adapting the tracks to driving conditons (I'm guessing things like asfalt, mud, grass, over houses, over zombies and so on 🤔)...When you see fuel figures for tanks then you can truely understand why survivors wouldn't use them. Tanks need supply routes, they cant go out roaming the countryard😂. Max range 265 miles, capacity 500 gallons of fuel and 0.5 mpg (donno if this is city. or extra urban) 😂
I would get the humvees if I was at a community. But if I was on the road like they were when they went back to Atlanta I wouldn’t take it solely cause no use for it and it’s just something else to carry/have with you
Darabant's following story does sound really interesting. Makes me wonder how the story with Rick would have followed and (or) how Rick's story line would have played into TWD And how different it may have been. @@Lalvon_Zelpharr I actually like them! :) I think it's quite interesting seeing all those back stories... I've heard the budget for the webisodes was not that great and that's why they couldn't hire Hollywood stars whatsoever. But the director is the same from TWD anyway...

I said this on his episode about ‘where is government?’ (I think?), and I still say that I believe that the top tiers of the government are in hiding in Mount Weather or Cheyenne Mountain, even if TWD/FTWD wants to pretend that the government is completely gone. I would love to see a short series on the military falling back continuously until they declare ‘Wild Fire’ and essentially say everyone for themselves before fortifying themselves. Perhaps the series would end with the a scene where you see the last unit, perhaps including the protagonist, closing the MASSIVE door to the facility to the outside world, leaving it open to wonder whether the government and military will come out someday, or whether they never come out. (Also leaves it open to a film or another series)
Darabonts zombies were so much scarier than ones in the later seasons as they can keep some memories of their past lives as shown by Morgan's wife when she returns to her house and some could run and a couple even jumped a fence
Yeah, compare how Rick is concerned about taking on 2 walkers at once or Daryl (yeah, he’s hurt but…) having a brief but intense fight with two. In later seasons it’s like “Ho hum, here comes a dozen Walkers” like more of a nuisance and something for the characters to do while the plot develops.
Really appreciate your style of explaining TWD as in its not an episode to episode explanation and prediction but more like an explanation to general scenarios like military failing, how the zombies work, end of world etc types. Really wish they would have done more past scenes before everything went out of control, just like FTWD did.
what made the first season the best was the fact that they showed us how things got worse. it's a shame they didn't follow Darabont's vision to bring more flashbacks
I met Sam Witwer back in August, and we talked about the tank driver, and Sam's admiration for Frank Darabont. Just watching Sam thinking about Frank, he just started smiling happily. That's good when you have a good enough relationship with someone, that you think of them fondly and smile.

Damn this would have been so spectacular. And would have possibly changed the whole direction of Season 2. What #TheWalkingDead is missing now. It what it had in Season one. And that is a “soul” it had a tangible essence. Something we as fans identified with. We cared about the characters and the plot.
It was that new unknown element. Walkers were scary. I'll admit it had a few moments. Now the show is numb. Goes through the numbers. Walkers are just a background noise they deal with now and then
I remember the service station episode where the little girl was holding the teddy bear. Now either she had some residual memory of 'her' bear and how to carry it, or she had such a grip holding it when she was killed and reanimated that 'she' never knew what it was and let it go afterwoods. Reminds me of another zombie movie where the zombie leader carried a gun all this time, and towards the end it figured out how to use it.
I always thought the camera focus alot on certain zombies, like the Purple Jacket zombie, bicycle girl, and yes the Tank Walker. I can actually see in the filming style what Frank had in mind. I think I wouldve preferred what Frank had in mind though idk what it wouldve been like late game if that makes sense
sad thing is darabont vision would have far less plot holes and give more details on how the army lost control because it very clear early on the cdc found out the head kills them so there major plot holes on why and how the army fell apart
The fall of Atlanta would be an awesome way to start the Rick Grimes moive coming out, and I don't think it would be that crazy to have it in and then cut to Rick after he was picked up in the chopper.
I feel like fear of the walking dead wasn’t good enough, it does show the military response, but another thing is, what was the response to the president? I feel like there is still a military, or just people protecting the president in a bunker...
Crazy to think Rick waking up from his coma, is 3 seasons into Fear the walking dead.. always wished we got to see more of the main group in the first two months.. they were my favourite cast, we only got a Glimpse of shane lori and carls escape, never got a backstory on T-dog or jaqui, Dale andrea and amy’s backstory would’ve been fun to see also..
this is great, I remember seeing The Mist a year or two after Dead started and was thinking half these people are in the TV show. Thanks for connecting those dots.
honestly i think he should make the episode when the walking dead ends just for the hell of it i wish that would happen cause the episode sounds so damn good
The walker would have been a Skelton after that long Atlanta is hot as hell and imagine being in a tank he would have been a skeleton after a few months
See when I hear things like this it’s really annoying as even in FTWD we still don’t really see the collapse of the millitary as it’s caused by the group which brought about the fall of the millitary camp
because scott nipple is directing and the directors don't understand that fans want to see the fall of society. They didn't care and just fast forward to TWD season 7-8 timeline
Most writers and directors have a hard time comming up with any believable way of having the military fail. The best they can come up with is something like: no one ever finds out about headshots, or even worse: one base is surrounded, the fences go down because there are ten thousand zombies without the military comming into action yet, the base is overrun and there are no other soldiers anywhere in the world...
I think a series based on a military command surviving the zombie apocalypse would be interesting. Maybe military and terrorist forced to work together.
The mist is one of my all time favorite movies, it's shaped my taste in movies more than any other movie that I can think of. I can't believe I didn't recognize Sam witwer in that tank
that would of been so cool if they kept frank and did that, i would of liked to see more of the start of the apocalypse, I'm glad we did get to see that in fear the walking but it would be better to see that in the original series, plus to see how the Atlanta group came together would been cool too, missed opportunity
You forgot Morales he was also in the mist as a soldier maybe in witwer's unit and the first season of the walking dead and later as a savior in the series.
I didn't even notice it was Sam Witwer, known for voicing Darth Maul in Star Wars the clone wars and rebels as well as Star Wars The Force Unleashed video game
I wanted to see at least 2-3 seasons of how Negan progressed from the start of the infection to meeting Rick's group. This would have given the regular cast a break to do "other projects".

I mean season 2 was good but now hearing this fall of Atlanta story, I feel the show would’ve gone some place better if we saw that
Just wish AMC do special walking dead episode regarding the military and fall of Atlanta city

We were close to that but......................
Facts not fuckin whisperer ppl and kingdom 🤦🏽♂️
Yep - it might have been a good episode. I also did a video on the webisode that reveals the origin of bicycle girl. Good stuff, those backstories.
W h.g.h at if on the show the commonwealth is on some carriers
Also, on most aircraft carriers and destroyers, there is always a detachment of Marines on board for security to dispatch any shipboard threat.
But actually,@@kidbach, it's not most, but all. Marines run the brig on US Navy ships and are a captains personal protection.
@@epicbrotato I've certainly thought about that angle.
Marines lost to zombies
We should have episodes with random people, showing the horrors against walkers and people during the months before Rick's awakening
Sounds good.
Wwz book
To me I wish Rick keep his sheriff deputy uniform because when I saw him wearing it to me it shown that there's still hope and that he still can main tain law and order in his group hes in but scene he left the farm and took away his new Alexandria police department uniform now I know the hope is gone
His murder jacket is better tho
It shows his transition
Gotta love Sam witwer, even as a cameo, that man is just amazing.
I didn’t realize that was him for the longest time! dude was awesome at voicing Deacon, St. John in days gone
And Star killer in force unleashed.
I would love to have seen what frank had in mind for Merle.

@@jacklarson6281 absolutely!

Damm...
I really wanted to see that idea going into practice...
I wish they never got rid of Frank Darabont, he could've done so much with the shitshow that is now TWD
It's so fucking bland now. The whisperers are interesting, but once they're gone. Same bland shit again.
@LONE WOLF How am i a feminazi exactly? I just said the show is crap thats all
@LONE WOLF ah okay
Season one also introduced that idea that these zombies are capable of using tools to break doors but they never use the opportunity again
04:15 tank would be very useful during the Saviors war. It's strange they never went back to claim it + lots of guns in Humvees...
depenmds on how much gas/ammo was left. risking your life for a hummer that can't start is senseless...
Atlanta’s a far drive from Virginia
But if I was on the road like they were when they went back to Atlanta I wouldn’t take it solely cause no use for it and it’s just something else to carry/have with you
THE TANK WALKER ONLY LOOKED CONFUSED WTF
He was in resting state as many on the show have been. Like the one rick killed with a bat with morgan
Or the two on the burned out bus
"What the fuck?"
*PEW*
Would have been a badass story
Darabant's following story does sound really interesting. Makes me wonder how the story with Rick would have followed and (or) how Rick's story line would have played into TWD And how different it may have been. Darabant had really good ideas for TWD too bad he was cut loose before his ideas could continue to come to life on screen for us to enjoy!
Thanks for watching!
They should take the best walkers from the series and tell their stories in a new series. I'd watch that.
Me too
Well walker
Riot control prison walkers
Frederick Pagliarulo everyone would watch that but it’s amc they’re ruining the hole show
Lone walker
this would've been the best way to start off season 2
*They still can tell the soldier's story in a webisode...*
Webisodes are made very poorly
@@Lalvon_Zelpharr I actually like them! :) I think it's quite interesting seeing all those back stories... I've heard the budget for the webisodes was not that great and that's why they couldn't hire Hollywood stars whatsoever. But the director is the same from TWD anyway...
@@holandesa1924 same even if it was made poorly it's super interesting to watch and then learn like the bicycle girl webisode
@@DONTKNOW-jb5vb right?? we tend to see those zombies and forget that one day they were people with families and jobs and houses. Like the bicycle girl! The red machete was cool
This makes me miss the early days of twd, S1 is so amazing. Sad how it really never feels that real and raw ever again in the series
That’s why I’d like to see more mini series or webisodes about the beginning. I wanna see more of people’s stories.

So nobody's gonna mention how the Abrams' interior is the size of a luxury camper?
On the 1st Season DVD it showed that they built a fake inside (half of it like a cut-a-away) to actually film in. It is made to where the actors have room to move a bit more. Thanks for watching!
Falcon Two Four hey, it’s Hollywood
The same magic that allows one cowboy to kill a dozen Indians with one shot and never has to reload
actually in the show its not an Abrams but it is a nato tank
@@johntulppo4484 you right. Chieftain Mk 10 from other sources. The turret space looks more spacious than an Abrams for sure, but still no lounging area.
It’s not an Abrams, it’s like a challenger2 and an Abrams mix and coming from a tanker the inside is huge and you wouldn’t see the race ring.
Thanks for watching!
Military protection, food, shelter, they told frank to go there.Said they're working out how milk this show.
this sounds like an exciting episode. seeing the fall of atlanta and them calling in the napalm/airstrikes etc...
Thanks for watching!
Darabonts zombies were so much scarier than ones in the later seasons as they can keep some memories of their past lives as shown by Morgan's wife when she returns to her house and some could run and a couple even jumped a fence
Even scarier, she went back to the house she died in.
I really appreciate the kind words. Thanks for the comment and Thanks for watching!
It's really shows how much thought Frank puts into his plans. Makes AMC's version look like a RUclips series.
what made the first season the best was the fact that they showed us how things got worse. it's a shame they didn't follow Darabont's vision to bring more flashbacks
I met Sam Witwer back in August, and we talked about the tank driver, and Sam's admiration for Frank Darabont. Just watching Sam thinking about Frank, he just started smiling happily. That's good when you have a good enough relationship with someone, that you think of them fondly and smile.
that's cool
AMC fucked ng ruined this show
AMC should make a new TWD Series Or Webisodes from military perspectives
Like
Navy Fighter Pilots or Air Force
a Marine back from afghanistan
I agree with you that's good idea would be nice story line about USA military personnel trying get back state side during the outbreak worried about family and friends trying to survive going A.W.O.L
NOPE. The military would have just been bullies against the people like the gangs.
Check out Dead in the Water.
Season two was the most boring season until the last two episodes I wonder if that would be different if frank had not been fired

Walkers are just a background noise they deal with now and then
By the patches on the walker He was 82nd airborne and he may have been just a simple paratrooper
Man, the more I listen about Frank's vision the more I am bummed out that they got rid of him. TWD is awesome but it cold have been absolutely EPIC!
Ah Witwer! The amazing voice of maul and star killer and so much more.
That tank walker was one of those memorable ones. Wish we could see other special walkers’ back stories
sad thing is darabont vision would have far less plot holes and give more details on how the army lost control because it very clear early on the cdc found out the head kills them so there major plot holes on why and how the army fell apart
Shame this never came to be. Would have been damn awesome.
Darabont is what made the show amazing. First season was by far the best feeling
Crazy to think Rick waking up from his coma, is 3 seasons into Fear the walking dead.. always wished we got to see more of the main group in the first two months.. they were my favourite cast, we only got a
Glimpse of shane lori and carls escape, never got a backstory on T-dog or jaqui, Dale andrea and amy’s backstory would’ve been fun to see also..
this is great, I remember seeing The Mist a year or two after Dead started and was thinking half these people are in the TV show. Thanks for connecting those dots.
Sam Witwer in "Being Human" was great. I miss that show
honestly i think he should make the episode when the walking dead ends just for the hell of it i wish that would happen cause the episode sounds so damn good
I think the main reason is the Tank, it should be M1A2 Abrams but instead they used British Chieftain Tank.
Lol the chieftain is an old tank
The abrams tank is very expenisve to rent from the us military the chieftain was much cheaper
I really miss Frank Darabont's storytelling and vision for the series
The competent ones always get fired.
This would have been so badass. Thanks for showing it.
Yes, it would have. And no problem!
People who blame Darabont for season 2 need to watch this.
Im upset his vision wasnt allowed to come to life. Now they are trying to piece together the zombies from the beginning to “variants”
When the group goes back to Atlanta in season 5 to get Beth u can see the tank in the background so that means that soldier was still in their dead🤔🤔
Where u can see this tank?
1: there were no tanks.
2: yeah, he would be a skeleton by then in full combat armor.
Where is the tank
@@PugnaciousProductions there was like a 5 second clip of a tank when Daryl and carol enter the streets of Atlanta
The walker would have been a Skelton after that long Atlanta is hot as hell and imagine being in a tank he would have been a skeleton after a few months
This would’ve been really cool if they did this.... BUT NOOOOOOOOO AMC fires the guy. smh
Ik that the national guards are gone the military killed them all because they were fighting to protect the people
Most writers and directors have a hard time comming up with any believable way of having the military fail. The best they can come up with is something like: no one ever finds out about headshots, or even worse: one base is surrounded, the fences go down because there are ten thousand zombies without the military comming into action yet, the base is overrun and there are no other soldiers anywhere in the world...
...Didn't Sam Witwer voice Darth Maul? And Starkiller?
I would have loved to see this version of the walking dead. Every zombie once was a person and does have a story to tell.
Thanks for watching!
I think this still could be a good movie because we can see how the military fell and how each soldier reaching to the end of the world
The Walking Dead would have ended up being a really solid show had Frank stayed at the helm.
Wait what!? Sam Witwer was the walker in the tank?? That’s awesome! Did not know that. Darth Maul himself as a walker
Yep! Thanks for watching Smitty!
Wow that tank zombie was deep. Makes you wonder. Very impactful
It must suck to bring something to TV and then have it taken from you.
4:19 the fact the "fall of Atlanta," is still the #1 fan fic and theorized topic really shows how on the mark Frank was in having that be told S2E1
You forgot Morales he was also in the mist as a soldier maybe in witwer's unit and the first season of the walking dead and later as a savior in the series.
It’s funny how Sam Witwer went from the Tank Zombie to Deacon St. John in Days Gone
I didn't even notice it was Sam Witwer, known for voicing Darth Maul in Star Wars the clone wars and rebels as well as Star Wars The Force Unleashed video game
Yep! Great and awesome actor all around - seems like a cool guy also
I can’t believe that was Sam Witwer this whole time.
Yep. Here is another video: How Starkiller saved Rick Grimes - ruclips.net/video/fWtgJpK6Vfw/видео.html
I wanted to see at least 2-3 seasons of how Negan progressed from the start of the infection to meeting Rick's group.
This would have given the regular cast a break to do "other projects".
just imagin how dumb it would be if rick shot through the head of that walker in to that hand grenade and the series would ended
