I'd say this theme and CBS theme is the best. Off topic. On the college basketball side, ABC's college basketball theme was the best. If you never heard of it, just imagine the college football theme but a lot more upbeat.
@@zenethis92 No doubt, this theme really amped up the atmosphere of big time games on Saturday. I'll never forget the first time I got into college football, watching the '98 Big 12 Championship Game on ABC as a kid and they kept checking in with John Saunders (RIP) for updates from the Miami-UCLA game. I wasn't familiar with the BCS or ANY of the teams, but that weekend really got me into it. My mom bought me a Sports Illustrated Year in Review Almanac from Odd Job.. or rather I made her buy it.. and I went right to the college teams and learned all of them, even the I-AA teams and my video games helped too (NCAA Football, NCAA Final Four).
No doubt about it. Whenever ABC airs college football, this theme gets me excited about another college football Saturday. I really miss this theme and I wish they could've kept it. ESPN on ABC sucks!
"A sold out Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida, on a steaming October afternoon. It's more than just a football game...It's a rivalry, with National Championship implications. The top ranked team in the land on their home turf against the Seminoles of Florida State." -Brad Nessler
Early-Mid 2000s nostalgia. Takes me back to middle school and freshman and sophomore years of high school and listening to the likes of Keith Jackson and Brent Musburger on Saturday Afternoons during September, October, and November.
The music still gets me pumped to this very day. Thankfully, I collect vintage College Football games on DVD and although I got into football during the later years of this theme, I still get goosebumps hearing Brent Musburger and Keith Jackson's voice.
I miss ABC Sports! The 90s to 2006 was ABC’s Sports golden years. I loved all the announcers, and had some really memorable college football moments. At least we were treated to an amazing game between Texas and USC as ABC Sports final broadcast. RIP Keith Jackson!
What great music. What great presentation. I loved ABC Sports College Football presentation. In my opinion, it was the best on TV. RIP John Saunders and Keith Jackson.
Great intro & outro music. The best ABC's College Football ever had, even during the ESPN years. Whoever composed this theme definitely deserved every royalty / residual they ever received over this.
I will never understand why people change awesome stuff. It’s like they sit in the boardroom and say,” hey you know that theme that everybody loves, and not one person on the planet dislikes? Yeah let’s change that for absolutely no reason”
ESPN should have kept Abc sports branding though. Disney screwed up big time with this espn/abc integration. I still hate to watch college football games with the ESPN ON ABC intro crap. ABC was the big name in college football. They killed Monday night football and it's a shell of what it used to be on Monday night.
Especially when the graphics and theme song used in 2006 for the beginning of espn on abc were just bad. Murky orange, kinda dark but not quite black and neon red combined with horrendous compression artifacts didnt look good even with HD sets. The presentation on the four letter network is much improved now but I still dont understand why they have to pretend ABC doesnt exist at all.
Also back when ESPN did NASCAR they put the bigger more important races on ABC to gain a larger audience. All the big time ESPN events were on ABC and you knew it was a major deal to be on ABC.

ESPN on ABC kept the BCS theme and turned it into the Saturday Night Football theme, then the BCS theme again (on ESPN), but I wish they would've kept this theme for the regular season and implemented it on ESPN instead of using ESPN's theme. Heck, the NBA theme that started in 2005 even migrated to ESPN and stayed on ABC under the ESPN branding.
Well, it was created by a company called Nonstop Music, they do have a website but I dont know if anyone has heard back from them on using these themes.
The sounds of my childhood. The 2000’s had the best of everything! I miss those times. 😢
Still the greatest college football theme of all time. Nothing got me more hyped than hearing this music start a broadcast
It needs to be brought out of retirement especially with the new SEC media deal in place.
I'd say this theme and CBS theme is the best.

Opportunity missed by ESPN/ABC for mot bringing this classic back woth their SEC coverage.
Agreed.
Thank God they didn't. Don't wanna sully this greatness with the sec.
"And now let's go to New York for a studio update with John Saunders. John, take it away!"
ah the memories

Michael J ABC Sports in like 2005 had some of the best music ever for every single sport, and they covered pretty much every sport
Technically, the final telecast under the ABC Sports banner was a rained out 2006 Little League World Series final.
then ESPNCNN ruined it

Even if the abc branding had stayed, the graphics would have still changed and evolved. But this theme music? No way, why would you get rid of it?
That’s called fixing something that isn’t broken 🙄 so annoying
Just like when a store or restaurant completely changes their perfect layout on the inside. Drives me bonkers.
ABC Sports dissolved, and ESPN had their own music and branding already.
It stinks, but there was a logical reason.
