Tips for Buying Your First Gun

- Ally Abrams is on the hunt for a new gun. More than that, actually. She’s on the hunt for her first gun. So, like many first-time gun buyers, she went to her local range, The Machine Gun Nest, because they have a lot of choices in a place where people can see and test them out.
In particular, Ally is interested in a handgun. She’s shot handguns before, but she’s not very experienced. As far as brand loyalty goes for guns, Ally is a blank slate. Which makes the local gun shop/range a perfect choice for her.
I just hope every gun shop worker was as nice and helpful as that gent. It can be intimidating for a greenie.
I was a little disappointed in the video targeting first time gun buyers that he did not express basic safety issues to her. More importantly, it bothered me that appears he did not, upon picking semi autos out of the case, open and lock back the slide to demonstrate to her the chamber was empty. To me, that's the first thing I expect of a firearm salesperson even to me as an experienced gun owner. And I do the same thing when I pick it up to verify for myself it is empty. Additionally, especially in this video, it would be helpful to simply address the four basic safety rules before going to the range. To me, expressing safe handling has to be rule number one when introducing firearms to prospective first time buyers.
I realize this video was trying to condense down some basic information to a person who has previously fired firearms. However, since the title of the video addresses "first time gun buyers", I believe safety would have been helpful to include.
Exactly
Me too and she actually pointed the gun at him
He stated getting "proper training" two times in the first 2 minutes of the video. Proper training would include basic gun safety.
If u feel that strongly about it where ur willing to write a 65 page comment. Why don’t u make ur own video than and show us how it’s done??? Ohhh that’s right I can’t ? That’s why u hate and make comment a sitting on the sidelines watching someone’s else’s video 🤣SMH??
Wow instead of telling the young lady what you think how about you give her some calibers to try and say try these models with these calibers find someone who is willing to work with you, spend time getting practice, maybe where each one in a holster, then after you decide what’s best for you come back and we will see if we have what you want. Do this rather than giving an opinion about a caliber, not everyone is you.
Lots of .40 S&W hate these days, it's always sad when calibers die out. The 9x19 round is over a hundred year old cartridge design and is good enough for probably 90% of all self defense scenarios.
At least 10mm is on the rise. With 9mm being so great these days, might as well go up to 10mm instead of .40 S&W.
@@JacksonWalter735 in many cases .40 S&W can be bought cheaper than 9mm because of lower demand!
He missed the first necessary question, what do you want to do with a gun? He assumes defense, something she did not voice.
That's invasive and none of his business.
@@RPGGunman BS. You sell to fulfill the need.
@@RPGGunman if people want privacy, they can come to RUclips and watch videos explaining the basics about guns and the different types and how to handle them properly.
Too bad he skips over that question right away in this video
He literally asked if she knew what she was looking for.
That's invasion of privacy. That's not his job. Educate yourself bud. Stop listening to left wing media. Fox news is a good place to watch for the facts and truth.
I'm going to sell my .45 and get one of those 30 shooters he was talking about.
Gun shop employees always want to show you the sig first lol
Yeesh. This might as well be a parody of gun store salesperson cliches.
This guy has mall ninja delusions. "Extremely limited on capacity", "You start with 15 rounds". WTF...
Love my 40 S&W.
Well if thats his idea of giving a newcomer advice? He needs a few lessons in none biased selling.
That was great , I wish all gun shops were that helpful. I realize that it was set up that way for the video but wouldn't it be nice. She made a good choice of a pistol , I like the S&W MP's.
If you’re that hot I’m sure they would be that helpful
Explain "Cleaning The Gun." Then she might want the Revolver.
Nah… I don’t need scotch brites to clean my semi.
He’s just trying to sale a 9 mm. That’s crap
I'm curious how the recommendations change in other countries. Canada has restrictions on mag capacity and barrel length. Is 9mm still the best caliber when you're limited to 10 rounds?
I've heard some people say in those types of low capacity areas. That it makes going to a .45 caliber more logical if you can't have the round count of a 9mm.
Best Wishes! M.H.
A couple of things. "Stopping power" isn't a thing. The only consideration for stopping a target is if you're not shooting at people. If you're shooting vehicles (miltiary application), large game (hunting application), or werewolves (imaginary application), you have to worry about stopping forward motion toward you. A rhoncerus, an elephant, a car, a force of nature, are all things that may charge toward you that would have to meet a stopping force. First of all, a handgun will not ever contain enough force to stop any of those. If it does, it will knock the shooter off their feet, recoil the gun into their forhead, or shatter thei arm bones. Stopping power isn't a real thing for personal carry firearms. Even a 9mm round won't penetrat personal armor, so it doesn't matter what you're using if they have a vest.
Second, Beretta is the oldest gun manufacturer, and the most reliable gun manufacturer, as a well-known fact in the industry. They have also released a carry version of one of their 9mm pistols that is very affordable. Smith & Wesson M&P Sield M Plus is also a fantastic option, as is a Taurus - especially with a 15 round magazine. But Glock 43Xshould have definitely been mentioned.
“Okay.”
Can I buy one?
Should I get a Walther PDP, CZ P10C, or Sig P320 XCompact?
Great video presentation about the subject. Ally Abrams made it very interesting 😍
more ammunition in a 15 shot magazine or 9 it’s no difference to a sloppy shooter. marksmanship training is the key to survive a gunfight. the first shot being put where it’s intended while under pressure and follow up shots if required.the pray and spraying method means a lot of bullets flying every where. the difference is every shot for marksman is intentional , precise, committed, mind set , there may be only chance for that one shot. ability, proper training, knowledge of what is about how to look ahead of the criminals finding the end result before it happens. nana and papa wishing you well
You forgot speed and if possible surprise. If you are the first one to shoot, you start the gun fight, you should win every time. 😂
Brian is obviously a poster boy for Sig, S&W and Glocks. 9mm is the best caliber, esp if you cannot handle stouter and more powerful rounds.
Right off the bat the guy behind the is probably 8 or 9 of the things you don't do worn a first time buyer is looking for a first handgun
Man, Shut up! right off the bat he just goes I hate the 40 with no real explanation why.
I also recommend starting mid-way with a 9 and seeing if you can handle more or if you should step down the round size.
but I wouldn't just be like. I hate 40 so let's just omit that. WTF?
9mm guys really kill me
Why is she pointing the gun at him?
Cause she’s never owned a gun and doesn’t know yet. That’s the premise of the video dude.
@@TheBeefSlayer Dear Keyboard Warrior... Before I got my first gun I had enough common sense to not point a gun at anyone..and I'm not a dude
Diggin that modded 9mm
Why's this unlisted?
Because he talks about self defense, the Democrats want you to comply with the villain or run away also you may be eliminating a Democrat voter.
@@Lagassejames the video isn't unlisted though
I'd pick a. 45 revolver anyday over those guns 😉
Lifted my sister a 686 plus. 7 shot 357. Girl friend wants to learn about HOME defense. I hope she gets a revolver to start her journey.
He just happens to recommend the gun with a Higher Profit Margin for the store.
Beretta storm full size 9 mm.
the first gun should be a revolver.
Glock fan boy🙄
Bro that guy is such a nerd I’m getting nerd vibes out this guy so much 😂😂
40 sw all the way
Ally is okay but where is Taylor???
She's at the "bodies of twelve year old boys" convention..
@@jackhammer0101 Okay, that was funny, so I upvoted you, but I don't think you have an appreciation for petite women in great shape. The phrase "crazed weasel" might cross your mind.
@@jackhammer0101, I didn't realize they had a convention for "bodies of twelve-year-old boys" Are you a host or a participant?🤐
Took my dad there to try out Tommy
Glock 19 it’s all you need girl.
Yeah, love the " stopping " power of the 9, he neglected to tell her you may need to shoot them 8 times but other than that it great.
Should have had a woman show her the guns. I think she would be more comfortable. And where are the sig p365 or Ruger sub compact,Glock 43x?!?!? 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼
I dream of this day. Ain’t no worse pain then loving guns and not being able to own one cause your 16😭 I swear all I be thinking bout is hitting the range and I got no fye.
This guy is influencing her with what he likes or doesn't like. Not the way to sell a weapon to a first-time buyer. Failed to find out more about her experience with handguns.
Wow no rationale about why he doesn’t like .40?
RPG should by good
my name is noob
Algorithm defeated
Shorty fine asl
She’s hot !
Tupperware sucks
That girl is super tall. Or that guy is super short.
Heres my tips for buying a gun. Go to a gun show or armslist and buy private party. No background no 4473 no nosey govt paper trail. You have a god given right to protect yourself family and property regardless of restrictive left wing crazy govt/state/ city laws. Better to meet the jury than to meet the funeral director. Oh and about safety? 1. Never point at anything you dont intend to shoot. 2. Keep finger off trigger until ready to shoot. 3. Never buy a gun without a manual safety 4. Never carry with a loaded chamber. Accident waiting to happen. About training. Real simple… point at target, pull trigger... UPDATE just watching the news. Mobs of savage animals with pepper spray, crowbars are running rampant, mostly in democrat led cities looting stores, over 80 savages just looted a upscale store in chicago and took a million dollars worth of shit. They're beating people, stabbing, gunning down innocent bystanders. The police come in minutes. Bullets come in feet per second. You have one life. Take no chances with these people. Don't be caught unarmed for any reason We all know whom I'm talking about. These are crazy people in crazy times
