    Finally fixed my new-to-me 2019 F06 front passenger door today and this video was, by far, the best guidance I had to get it apart and back together again. Thank you Sir.

    Got an F12 that this happened to on both doors. Exact same noise. Those motors also control the window so we just disconnected one of the wire plugs, not both. Window works, but soft close doesn't. However there's no noise. Looking for that part I think you got the F10 version which is about $100. The f12 is $500+. I think you may have just saved me $800. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR POSTING THIS.

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  2 года назад +2

      i was advised by a BMW tech that it's very important to make sure the plastic layer is resealed. you can buy new butyl adhesive, or reuse what's there, just make sure you have a good seal or you will be letting rain water inside the car.

    Great info here, I am late to the party, but I’m curious to know, how hard do you think this would be to make work on an old car? The electrical is my concern, I’m assuming it might need more than just a power and ground.

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  Год назад

      Nothing is impossible, but when it comes to weather or not something is worth the effort, i would say this one may fall into the category of probably not worth it, but i would encourage you to buy a unit and see if you can hack it, maybe you can make it work.

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  3 года назад +1

      it costs whatever the part costs. You'll have to check with your local dealer. I bought the wrong part off Amazon attempting to cut costs, which came back to bite me, but i was able to make it work. I would highly reccomend getting the correct part to start with.

    Once you repaired the broken plastic sleeve on the cable, was the new part containing the motor/gears grafted to the old cable and latch?

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  3 года назад

      yes, i destroyed the old part to cut it open and look inside, it was fused shut. the new part could be unscrewed. it was a riskey move for me, but it worked out. Lesson learned, BUY THE CORRECT PART.

      @@Sgt.Slides thank you for the response! I wonder if the broken plastic sleeve can be repaired without opening the old unit or does the old housing have to be opened up to fully access/repeat the broken plastic piece?

  • @djTorchLive
    @djTorchLive 3 года назад

    I know I'm late to the Party but I an X5 with this issue. Is it possible to disconnect the power to the soft close and still have the locking mechanism work ? Also, are you saying it was not a gearing issue but a cabling issue? If so, what did you have to do to the cable to make it work? Is that piece that snapped replaceable?

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  3 года назад +1

      you should be able to un plug the soft close and everything should function normally. In my case, yes, it was an issue with the cable. The end of the cable that holds it in place on the motor housing was snapped in half. i cleaned it, slid it back together, and applied lots of super glue, then i was able to put the cable back in the slot where it belongs and re assemble the drive unit. No, you cannot get a replacement cable or a piece to repair the cable. All of that is part of the soft close module. You need to buy a whole new soft close module like i did, but make sure you have the right one.

    • @Sgt.Slides
      @Sgt.Slides  Год назад

      I have not researched it, but i would not recommend jerry rigging a broken door latch, it's electronic, not mechanical like most cars. I have actually seen instances where people cant close their doors at all. Pulling a fuse could cause the latch not to work.
