I have a Tiffany & Co. Ship’s Bell clock I got from my father. I have very little knowledge about it. The clock does not tell time and the bells are not correct, only striking 2 on the hours and 4 on the half hours. Do you have a manuals for the Tiffany clocks?
I use a letdown tool to release spring tension. Involves gaining access to the winding area of the movement by removing the clock face, applying the tool to the winder stem while releasing the catch on the ratcheting mechanism. Do it carefully and slowly as the spring has a considerable amount of tension on it and can do harm...ask me how I know! :(
I have a Chelsea Shipstrike from 2005 and the bell pattern is out of sync. For example, at 9am, it only rang 6 bells and it should have been 2 bells. I know with a pocket watch, you could just lift the hands off and reset them at the correct time, but I hear that is not recommended for the Shipstrike. How do you fix this?
Move the second hand through 20 minutes past the hour and let it strike, after the clock strikes move the second hand through the 10 minutes to the hour and let it strike the hour. Continue doing this until you get to the correct strikes for the hour. DO NOT MOVE THE HOUR HAND. No I am not a clock maker/repairer. I do have a Chelsea Ship Strike clock.
I am a pocket watch guy and just picked up my first Chelsea clock. Great video, I understand how these clock's work now. Thanks for taking the time to show us!
Nice detailed video. I find taking many photos along the way helps in reassembly.
Are you still providing the Chelsea publication? If so, would love to get a copy.
Kind regards,
Doug

Do you have a digital version of the Chelsea manual (one you've scanned?) that you can email to me.
I would love to get a copy of the book. How can I get in touch with you?
This video is dated 2018, but I have a feeling it was "filmed" way before that.

We are very fortunate to have these videos. Anthony 'Tony' Montefusco passed away in May 2011.
Lost learning. More like lost VHS shoulder mounted camcorder, nome sayin'?
