after I pulled the hour chain up too far .. my grandfather clock stopped chiming the HOUR and descending the chain weight everything else works perfectly. ever hear of this before?

Very nice presentation I like the method regarding the oil sink as a reference, I automatically did this without thinking but you pointed it out, would love to own a bushing machine but too old at 83 😊 I’m a broadcast engineer but trade and now do clock repair as a hobby.❤️

Your explanation is excellent, as are the positions you managed to present in the video. The most critical step is undoubtedly the synchronization of the clapper gears, which you managed to explain masterfully.

I enjoyed this calm approach to clock cleaning. I have quite a few wonderful clocks. If I had children that would appreciate them I would pay a professional to fix most of them. But that is not the situation. Soooo I have started to dust, oil and I am working on the next steps. I am terrified of the springs. I guess with proper tools I will gain confidence. Thank You

Thanks. I have found other illustrations of replacing teeth but they fall short by either using a lathe cutter or showing the finished job. You have very kindly shown me how to shape the tooth using files and wire. For me as an amateur clock repairer with limited resources and machinery and having to do the work by hand you have helped me to repair a wheel which other experts failed by showing the finish job but not showing explicitly how to do it. You have and your video is worth more than a thousand of theirs. Thank you.

What happens to the mark that you made on the count wheel with the pen when you use the brillo mesh to clean the wheel?
