Good for him. Now, Clearwater residents, you need to look into why. Crying because you don't have a city hall is ridiculous. Especially to the tune of 90 million and you only have 30 mil covered. Focus on schools and the areas of Clearwater that are impoverished first. That's crazy.

He is a good man! I do not live here and I find it refreshing and honest of him to have served the people. It is ridiculous to be spending $90 Million, that is what wrong with this country. He has a backbone. And for the other four, maybe look into a building that is unoccupied to purchase and needs a tenant. I am sure you could save a lot of money. It is called recycle.

A mayor with good intentions resigns because of crooked city council members want to use tax payer money to build a new City Hall. Meanwhile 300 actual office buildings remain vacant. Is there a reason why they can’t remodel one office building as the new city hall

Mayor Hibbard is a very intelligent , capable and principled man. The citizens of Clearwater have lost something exceedingly hard to find today…a totally honest public servant who genuinely cared about his city and the people who live here. The City of Clearwater has traditionally enjoyed a Mayor and City Council that was one of the most cohesive and effective of any city in the nation. It is a sign of the times that even here, the same kind of issues that are destroying our country, are causing chaos as well.

I first met Frank over 20 years ago when he first ran for the (then) Clearwater City Commission. I always respected Frank, finding him to be a very fine, very honest person, a man of high integrity who was very serious in his approach to government and public service. I completely agree with his concerns about government overspending. His idea to locate a municipal services building and council chambers in the Main Library is absolutely brilliant, one that other municipalities throughout our state and nation could emulate. Still, I believe he will come to regret this decision to resign. Now more than ever, the city of Clearwater (a strong mayor form of government) needs strong, steady leadership - and the mayor does much more than simply oversee budget negotiations and spending. Nonetheless, I wish him and his family well, and appreciate his many years of good service to our Pinellas County community. -Michael Mayo
