Fun Fact: they are actually using sign language in their dance to tell people who are deaf that they have the permission to dance even when they're feeling down. Life can take us everything but not our freedom! Borahae 💜
This was one of the three English language songs BTS released during the pandemic. This one came towards the end, when everybody had had just about enough, and it was so joyful and hopeful that it lifted all of our spirits. Their later performance of it within the actual UN assembly room in NY is just epic and worth reacting to for what it’s worth. As others have said, they incorporate sign language into the choreography to make this song as far reaching and, accessible and inclusive as possible during a very hard time. 💜
The first time I watched this video, I cried. After nearly two years in self-isolation (I have an autoimmune disease) this song just hit me in the gut with the visuals of ordinary people doing ordinary things again. BTS kept me sane and alive in a dark time. And I was able to go to LA and see them live for the Permission To Dance tour!!!
Like others have mentioned watch their performance of this song at the UN, great performance. One of the most heartwarming reactions I've seen to this song was with a group of deaf kids and their faces lit up when they saw the use of sign language in the choreography. This song gets a lot of hate and I could understand this song not being everyone's preference but the song was just meant as a feel good song during a very tough time. If this song makes you smile it served its purpose.
BTS used international sign language meaning, “have fun”, “dance”, and “peace”. Many in the deaf community were so moved by this that they created videos of themselves dancing and signing to the song.

Watching this video after so long made me cry. I remember when it came out, it felt like hope. As we were still coming out of the worst part of the pandemic, after many people around me Ive lost, the video made me cry so much. I remember watching it on repeat so many times crying. Then playing it many times in my car on my way to and from work crying after a long day. I will be with patients singing it in my head at work to help me go through work without breaking down. And then after a few days, i was scared to even watch the video. I song even know why. But i kept listening to the song. I think it was because every time i’d watch the video, i would laugh, feel the happiness they were trying to convey, while still crying after all me and those around me I’ve been through. The mv and the song itself gave me that feeling. And today watching the video again, i was reminded of that period of my life when it came out, and here I am again crying. It reminded me of many people and things I should make sure to always remember, even as I move on with life. I love this song so much. But it is probably one of their rare songs i am the most scared to listen to. During the worst of the pandemic and after, what i relied on the most heavily has been BTS. The moments i laughed and smiled the most was thanks to them. Looking forward to something they had planned was all i would think of telling myself “it’s ok. Tomorrow/tonight/next week, BTS is doing this or that. It will be amazing. Push through and you will soon get to see or hear it and you will be ok.” And honestly, it helped. They helped. without even knowing. I hope they know how many people they’ve impacted in an amazing way.
Please give a reaction to the performance of this song at the UN Headquarters (they were given special permission to do it as they gave a speech there as well,😊).

BTS performs this song at the United Nations too!! They used sign language in the coreography🥹

Did you spot the nod to 'Butter' on the pancakes? :D PTD was the next song they released. They also performed PTD at the UN.
