    The Cassiar is my favorite route, some pretty epic wild dispersed camping. Be safe and enjoy!

    After seeing all the timber out that way, I wonder how long it'll be before they clear cut most of the area. I know that Vancouver Island they're clear cutting areas where there are highly endangered marmot's without a care one about how devastating it is to the environment and the wild life that have limited old growth forest left to survive in. Enjoying the video though. Happy trails and safe travels to the both of you!

    Single wide under a car port makes a lot of sense, helps keep house warmer and cooler! Hmm...and you have covering when you go outside!

    Know that in BC it is illegal to camp overnight in pull-outs/rest areas - but in AK you’d be fine unless signage explicitly forbids it. The provincial parks are lovely but in high season you do well to get a site by 4pm.

    How do you get good enough mpg to travel? I just bought my revel 2023 and cannot get any better than 12 mpg! Will probably sell with less than 3000 miles…

    • @Famagogo
      @Famagogo  9 месяцев назад

      There are so many variables to good MPG. We get 13-16 with all our kayaks on the roof. So we never had the hopes of getting max MPG. But if you're in a stock Revel, I’d think you could do better. Here are a few tips. MPG drops over 65mph. We think of 63 as the magic number for the best speed and economy. It's a high-profile vehicle, so you are pushing a lot of air. Mountains will knock this back too. Keep your van as light as you can. Don't bring unneeded stuff. We aren't the best at this one. Watch tire pressure. We run 50psi in front and 70psi in the rear. Also, corn diesel will lower MPG. If you live in the Midwest, that's harder to avoid. The best advice is to slow down and take in the scenery. That makes the most significant difference.

    I started my planing in November 2023. planning on Cassiar Highway. What Glacier isn at the ~9;00 min mark? Is the Cassiar dirt in that area or is this off the highway to Hyder?

      Hey, This is the Salmon Glacier near Hyde, AK. It's it's own diversion. A really cool spot to check out.

      @@Famagogo I figured that out later when you talked about being there. I was impatient. I'll be going from Vancouver to Skagway in May 2024. Driving my Cayenne--not camping. (I will have a sleeping bag & warm clothes in case & will have a satellite messenger in case of emergency.)
