"And I know they're going to laugh at us when they see us out together holding hands like this" is about Laura's relationship with what she calls "her" in her book--the girl/woman she always wanted to be but hid from the rest of the world.

Thanks for posting this!!!! I have listened to the older albums probably a million times and AM is such a huge part of my life’s sound track as a youth. I was a little afraid to listen or go to a concert after we met Laura Jane. I was thinking she would soften her voice.... I don’t know if anyone else felt the same way. But my God!!!! This is amazing and still the same band I have loved for all these years. They will be in my town this Friday... I’m going because of this! Seriously the first time I listened to them since the transition....Thank you thank you!!! I am so stoked..... and I’m bringing my 12 year old son!!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Disco Before The Breakdown saved my fucking life. There's something so fulfilling about seeing Laura perform the song instead of Tom
There never was a Tom, only Laura. She's only ever been Laura.

@@Azzamanify And what they meant is still misconceiving and hurtful to trans people. A white person could say "I wanted to kill myself one time" and then use the n word in the same sentence and I'd still tell them not to say that word.

It's interesting to notice how often Laura would write lyrics using the pronoun "she" prior to coming out. I wonder how often she was talking about herself.
Laura has been coming out for a long time. I remember the mentions of 'dressing up as a woman' on Searching For a Former Clarity, to say nothing of The Ocean. I'm sure there are earlier references too. It's honestly so obvious I'm embarrassed to not have noticed for as long as I had

I revisited disco before the breakdown and realized she was basically screaming for help then. Pretty heartbreaking because that was their very early stuff.

@Mercury Rose Yeah he had the stage presence but Andrew had that talent and that's why they brought him back into the band. Against Me realized that Andrew was just a far better musician and nowadays he has a lot more energy

I heard Laura was considering breaking up the band after this show, which would've been a shame, but this would have been a fantastic last show, going out with a bang for sure.
