It must be such an empowering feeling to be able to play drums like this
Did you find this guy after Jared Dines video too?
+Cameron G he did a xenochrist cover? o:
+Cameron G I know I did. ha ha
+Rob Scallon Are you serious Robert? Your a stringed instrument goddess.
You're one of the best musicians on RUclips. I'm sure you could if you put your mind to it lol
I went to high school with Alex, had an art class with him, and wrote a school article on him my sophomore year. His hair was down to his ass back then. He's one of the kindest people. His talent always far surpassed everyone else in my town.I'm really happy he's so successful, it is well deserved.
+Tony Bush Yeah dude he was alway so nice. its crazy haow many great drummers came out of fhs
It is crazy, a lot of talented musicians in general. Still, Alex was in a league of his own.
+Jack McHockoff Youre poop, and thats all youll ever be. Just fucking poop.
Didn't go to school with him, but Im from Hagerstown, so thats close enough lol.

Watching this since 2014 .. still doesnt get old .. probably one of the best drum videos in youtube
Brings back so much good memories when I see this video or listen to the old stuff faceless was doing back then, I want to be a 24y old dude again :'(
@@blasteffect19 same , man
@@blasteffect19 I felt that
Damn near same. This is still astonishing hahahah
Even after 10 years, this is top notch. Musicality, Dexterity, Chops, Microtiming, Dynamics, Feeling. Everything on 11.
When I started watching this I was eating bread. When it was finished, I was eating toast!
You win!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Now 10 years later are you still eating that toast?
This might be one of the most iconic performances in the whole history of drums and drumming.
Some of the off-the-cuff fills he does in this specific recording are insane. And the ACCURACY. I watch this at least twice a year if I remember.... it'll never get old!
Look up the drummer from the hardcore band animosity. He’s pretty incredible.
what impresses me the most is the fact his drum kit is almost symmetrical and he can lead with both left and right handed. This guy MUST be ambidextrous, this is incredible.
I'm like that too.
Its called playing open handed. You try to avoid crossing your arms
The best in that must be Travis Orbin he is such a monster
Im like that dildo
Looks so good
God I love the jazz influence the faceless uses in their music it adds such a nice touch.
Why did you post this comment twice? Lol :) But yeah, You are totally right. It adds so much more depth to their music. Same with the band Opeth. Two of the most technically gifted bands out there today.
lyle cooper is fucking amazing
2:13 Bitch I'm fabulous
+Kyle Schneid good 1 haha,, but he is tho,,
+Kyle Schneid omg this comment killed me LOL!
YES!
Jokes aside, I've watched quite a few of this guys videos.. Love his style, amazing....
LMMFAO OMG Definitely a fab moment with the spine twirl
AAHHAHAHAAHHAHA This part is so fucking insane that his body just go in the flux
He’s better with his left hand than I am at life
LOL UNDERRSTED COMMENT
What are you doing with your hand then :D
I play drums. He plays drums.
But when i look at this video its like we are playing a different instrument.
Crazy how damn good he plays
It's nice to see that Jesse got away from the meth and became a drummer.
Maran Nebbeling you have just won the best comment award. Come on down....4 years later
@@rKAL-EL lmao
ROFL
Its the meth that keeps him going man
@@wallthemart yh man how else would anyone be able to play like that?
I just realized that he was only 21 in this video. That's absolutely insane
Hah! That soulful lean in on the cymbal at 2:13. Love it!
Came here for this comment. Its nice to see some "soul" in death metal drumming.
2:10-2:35 gets me every time.Lyle did an amazing job coming up with those parts.
Lyle Cooper is so unrecognized and underrated.
How could anybody downvote this video? The playthrough is absolutely perfect. No way a sincere person with musical knwoledge would think this was bad.
Trolls. It's the only reasonable explanation.
Bunch of HATERS that have no actual skill lmao. This is flawless playing right here
Don't you know the old "Lars Ullrich was here" joke?
Who gives a Fuck?
It's jealousy
0:36 is why I love this song so fucking much! Black metal elements in a technical death metal song! Overall a masterpiece from an equally masterful album
These drums are seriously the most "polished" tech death drums I've heard. Maybe not the most insanely technical ones(but still insanely technical), but everything about this song is just well-used and classy. It definitely was the stand out song off of this album for me.
pretty sure the kick is the only thing triggered...if that
The drums don't have triggers on them.
Listen closely, than you can hear the Dynamics in the kicks
setandeathmetal
Bass drums are the only things to be triggered just so they aren't too muffled.
I love how this song is so interestingly written that you can listen to the instrumental without feeling there's a voice missing.
2021 and this is still a parable in the holy tome of godly drumming!!!
This video I show my friends when we talk about perfect presision drumming. Pure excellence.
2:50 GOOD GOD
3:08
I’ve watched this video at least 20 times. I show everyone this. Best drummer I’ve ever seen.
An utter masterpiece of an album
The timing on this guy is crazy. So sick
The drumming composition on this album was so amazing..
jesse pinkman ripping it up!!!!
5 years on bro 😂😂
Yo Mr. White!
Watching this, again and again. Thank you for my eyes and ears Mr Rudinger, it is an amazing performance.
I love how technical this is. Definitely one of my favorite tracks in the world as far as drums go. I like writing stuff this technical, and I'm fast with my hands, but my double bass is nowhere near as fast and accurate as his. Bravo!!!
I believe you'll get there mang. ;D
Thanks :-)
Any time dude. =D You better be practicing right now. :l
Lol. I wish I was able to have my drums at my house so I could practice every single day, but they're at a friends house in a little home made recording studio, and it's not convenient for me to go over there often, but I've been writing some new music and practicing with my guitarist like 3 or 4 times a month, so it's progress :-)
Just remember. Some guy on RUclips from a country you're not likely from is hoping you're practicing so he can hear the album you haven't made yet, l0l.
is he *REALLY* playing Xenochrist?
or is it playing him?
He wrote the drum part.
@@JUNKO____ r/whoosh

@@TheSalemSagas hilarious and original
Do we really exist or is it all a simulation? Does the government know about them?
This is quite possibly my favourite drumming video on the whole of youtube and I've been this sort of stuff for yeeeears. The sound/video quality and the sheer bloody perfection of Alex's drumming. This is easily my 50th view.
Ive literally watched this like 200 times and ive never not been impressed. What a godamn BEAST
It's crazy right 😮😮👍👍
Truly! I can't believe how mind blowing it is, it's so amazing you have to be witnessing it to fully appreciate the virtuosity in the craft of the drums in this song! Alex makes this seem super human to me, shout out to Lyle Cooper for the composition!
Best drum video I have seen. Amazing drummer, song and quality.
Interesting to have such a symmetrical kit, 2 toms, 2 floor toms, 2 rides, 2 hi hats, 2 splashes (ones a stack, but whatever), 2 crashes & 2 chinas. Must be really cool to play once you get used to it, and must improve your ability a lot to be ambidextrous & play open handed.
I think if i were to have a kit like that, id want to put two bell chimes on top of the crashes, & a cowbell on each hi-hat stand
Been revisiting this gem every now and then for 10 years now, just now noticed the cymbal mute at 3:37, so subtle and tasteful! What a legend
Watching drummers like him in action makes me very much feel like a try hard and a mortal because this is god level drumming.
Planetary Duality is one of the best death metal albums of all time! You did a really good job on this Alex!
It’s my favorite Faceless album
I dunno if a better tech death album exists for me, seriously its the goat in my eyes! Some obscura comes close though.
Wish i could find a video of rudinger playing the song itself
@@DruNature check out "The Sound of Perseverance" by Death. Lots of BEAUTIFUL jazz influenced drumming in there as well. Even if you just listen to the first song on that album, use your headphones and focus on the drums. You're not gonna believe your ears.
Awesome demonstration of Alex Rudinger's skills as a technical metal drummer, it's great to see how much fun he's having while playing through The Faceless' Xenochrist.
I’ve been playing for 32 years and this monster is nothing but impressive. Big fan of your playing for a couple years now and I keep being blown away.
This dudes got like the most perfect technique I've ever seen
2:30 to 2:45 is absolutely mind-blowing technique and skill.
I watch this video over and over all this five years and it still great!
out of control loved every second of it. mind blowing drum style.
damn his kit sounds beautiful
0:53 - 0:58 hurts my drum brain
Yeah that part is when my jaw really dropped. Like what the fuck even is that
DAMN RIGHT MAN! HE WENT FUCKING CRAZY , FLAWLESS ! 😂😂😂😂
Over and over, play it again and again. Nice!
Dildo?
Goodluck writing that in musical notation
its awesome how they show so much passion and really get into the music, i love it
That is without a doubt one of the most amazing displays of technique, precision and musicality I've seen. Bravo!!
This is what it feels like when you 100% through the fire and flames on expert drum edition
It's really fucking cool to seeing him have so much fun playing it :D
I just love this song. It’s a masterpiece.
All your videos are amazing but this is the one I've revisited again and again. I've watched it at least 100 times at this point in time. It's absolutely mind blowing still but I'm glad to say my comprehension of what you're doing has increased significantly.
It is amazing to see you playing this with such style in the face of near overwhelming complexity/speed.
You are an inspiration Alex.
I’ve probably watched this video almost 50 times at this point.
Same boat buddy
Damn Aaron Paul is an amazing drummer.
Still my favorite Drum-Video. Watched it so many times... THANK YOU, Alex!!!!! Absolutely brilliant!!!!! God bless and greatings from germany
Been coming back to this video since 8 years now ...whenever I feel low....I just watch this video and BOOOM !!! I'm tossed into space and the ride is absolutely incredible !!!!! Wooow what a powerhouse of a song especially due to Mr Alex Rudinger ...
this is just too good. TOO FUCKING GOOD MATE
One of my favourite ever Faceless tracks - saw them perform this at a local venue and it was just brutal! Broke my rib at the same gig in a Viatrophy moshpit =D
100% worth it? How was Viatrophy live? I'm sure the faceless kicked ass.
Viatrophy were also incredible but The Faceless just killed it - love seeing bands in smaller venues and those two put on such a show when they were here =] DEFINITELY worth the broken rib =D
Hell yeah small venues with bands like that are the BEST!!! Up close and personal. I saw Veil of Maya in a room with no more than 50 people. Great show! Still would rather see the faceless!
Dude...forgot all,about Viatrophy
This is one of my favorite videos
This video and David Diepold's cover of Nile's "The Innevitable Degradation Of Flesh" are my top drum videos of all time. I always come back to watch them over and over again and never get sick of them.
Performed by Alex Rudinger. Written by Lyle Cooper.
this was the song that made me realise what was missing in most tech / death / black metal:
songwriting.
Even at this level of just harmony and rhythm: there is definitely a song there
Without good song writing it's just a bunch of riffs
Alex you are phenomenal cannot wait to see how amazing the new faceless albums will be with you on drums
Absolutely love the end of the song with the pauses.
his face says it all
He's faceless.
DaMethamatician RUTHLESS😂😂😂😂😂😂
Cum face.
oh my god put this on 1.5 speed
Not very nice! You'll wear him out! :-P
I put it on 2X. This is my new favorite thing.
Jambi705 It took me three seconds to nut to this on normal speed. 2X speed? Instant.
Alex Menendez Can you play it at a negative speed? Wait, that might make it go backwards.
Maybe your nut would, too?
Horatio Trismegistus Yeah, it'd be like ultra blueballs.
Happiest. Drummer. Ever. just makes it that much better to watch
Great musician. You can see technique & thoughtfulness when he plays. You can tell that he loves and respects his craft.
my question is how the fuck you remember all this shit lmao.
I like death metal without vocals
Same here
Giuseppe Spezzano you should give a chance to death metal vocals man, , nobody was born loving growls and screams
3 years have passed and now I like harsh vocals too
Giuseppe Spezzano thats awesome ;)
Conquering dystopia
That was so perfect! Wow. That entire album is a masterpiece and you play that song just flawless. Great job man!
This is my favourite video on the internet!
Does anyone else absolutely LOVE the bit at 0:28 as well or is that just me?!
4:27
Every other ride bell*wishes* they sounded like that
I love his set up. Like damn. That is one sick kit
Just perfect. A master at work and loving every minute
They need to be put on Metal Blade or Relapse Records. Fuck Sumerian
2:13 that swing of his body
i swear to god dude made me cry, sooooo passionate and soulful!
Never seizes to amaze me!!! This might be the best drumming of all time!
FOOT CAM!?!? Seriously, this dude is shredding. You gotta catch those feet in action.
Top right bri
wow could a set sound any better?
You're so right! It sounds real and punchy.
He makes this look effortless. Amazing.
Alex always looks like he's having the time of his life behind the kit - it's nice to see that level of enthusiasm.
2:13 I'm a diva
KKKKKKKKK
Isaac Bruno what?
2:30 *MIKE PORNTOY INTENSIFIES*
@A Cup Of Coffe, I was thinking the same :)
I've seen this playthrough enough times already but always come back to watch it because its just so tight \m/
Yeeeeeah boy. Never gets old
dude stop it... you're killing it too hard.
Safe to say this guy is part of the 1 percenter club
An absolute joy to watch. Brilliant.
Still love this tune and playthrough. KILLIN' IT!
I saw someone post on tumblr saying that Lyle was the perfect drummer for The Faceless and that no one could fill his position.
Ha.
Hahaha.
Haha.
Right.
Tate Anderson It's true Alex can fill the spot and play Lyle's parts perfectly (sometimes even better). But, to me, Lyle is a much more creative drummer than Alex, and his ideas and aproach are more interesting and "out of the box". Just compare his work with the Faceless and Abhorrent with Alex on Conquering Dystopia, Ordinance and Good Tiger. The fact his Alex popularity came first from playing parts of other drummers, like in this video, and the HAARP Machine ones, where he plays the parts written by Craig Reynolds (who also is extremelly creative).
@@heldertiago124 exactly. Lyle didn't just play this, he WROTE it. It's like seeing Alex playing for AAL and saying he's better than Matt
Lars from Metallica can do this with 1 hand
@@djentatron no could out class matt in that context, Alex on conqering dystopia I actually quite like nonetheless.
0:52 how do you even COUNT this ?!
Erhiablart very carefully.
You don't, you feel it
Its a subdivide followed by a two hand crash accent into another subdivide
Caleb Bernstein shut up
1 2 3 4 5 6 1 2 3 1 2 3 4 I think thats how, but I'm probably wrong
Makes it look effortless, incredible!
Still one of the coolest drum videos to watch :)
Dude your smile while playing is so awesome.
Jesse Pinkman on drums
+Mr. Despotrique not a drug addict, but a DRUM ADDICT!!
I am pretty sure he used magnets to do this
dsleeman what?
@@dsleeman How so?
I'm glad music no-talents like myself have this to consume. \m/ \m/
This is making love to a drumkit. Now I've seen it all!
Amazing!
I've watched this video a million times and never get tired of it. People like this, who can excel like no other, make all the other bullshit that human life endures worth it. Rock on Alex.
When he hit the bell of the ride at 4:28, I lost it. ._. That was great.
