    I’ve been keto now for almost 7 years. I adopted this way of eating back in 2017 to reverse type 2 diabetes. Not only did it reverse my diabetes but also non alcoholic fatty liver disease, stage three kidney disease, high cholesterol and more importantly dangerously high triglycerides. It also reversed diabetic neuropathy in my lower legs and feet but that’s not all. It also got rid of painful arthritis and fibromyalgia too. My moods and my energy levels have also improved beyond my wildest dreams. Lifelong heartburn and acid reflux has also disappeared. The list just goes on and on. I’m now over 6 years free of diabetes and free from diabetic medications too. And I know that I’m not alone. Many people around the world are adopting the ketogenic way of eating to reverse diabetes and are getting the very same brilliant results. I have absolutely no worries whatsoever about cholesterol. In fact my most recent blood test results showed that everything was great. My old diabetic nurse told me that I’m not even anywhere near pre diabetic anymore. Amazing what can happen when you replace processed fake/pseudo foods with nothing but real/whole food. My body still continues to thrive. I simply stopped eating that which not only gave me type 2 diabetes but was also continuing to make it worse regardless of the diabetic medications I was taking. My own doctor reckons that I’m healthier now than I was 30 years ago. I’m now 67 years old and feeling great 👍

      How do you know your diabetes is cured if you stopped eating sugar and carbs?

    • @rodbreslin383
      @rodbreslin383 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@chrisel4349 that’s a great question. But I never said I was cured. I don’t look upon my recovery from diabetes as me being cured anymore than an alcoholic who has recovered from alcoholism would. Just like someone who’s recovered from alcoholism, I look upon myself as someone who has recovered from diabetes. A recovered alcoholic will never die from alcoholism if they never return to drinking alcohol. I will not die from diabetes either so long as I do not go back eating carbs, starches and sugars. If I went to any doctor today, anywhere in the world and he did blood tests on me he’d be telling me that my results show non diabetic. If I went back to eating carbs then that would be very stupid of me. I no longer have any cravings for sugar nor carbs and I’ve simply no need for them whatsoever in order to live a very happy and healthy life. There are people out there who have been keto for decades and still living very happily and healthy without eating those things and they’re also still free from diabetes. How is type 2 diabetes diagnosed? It’s diagnosed when blood glucose levels are way too high. What makes them way too high? Carbs, starches and sugars. Remove them and you remove the cause. That’s exactly what I did. And remember, not only have I reversed my diabetes by adopting the ketogenic way of eating but also those horrible complications too. My health has hugely improved in many ways. I even sleep better than I ever did during my diabetic years. I wake up every morning now feeling well rested and refreshed and ready to take on the day ahead of me. I lived with type 2 diabetes for ten miserable years, slowly continuing to get worse as the years went by. I faithfully followed all the medical procedures and guidelines I was given by my doctor and my diabetic nurse. But still the disease kept on getting worse. I was told that that was just the nature of this disease and I would have to accept that and just live with that. I became so desperately depressed that there were times when suicide was beginning to really look like an attractive option. Those were very dark times in my life that I never want to go back to. I absolutely in no way find keto restrictive either because the food I’m eating today is delicious and satisfying. So satisfying that I can very easily live on one or two meals daily without the need to snack as I use to do when I was shovelling carbs down my neck. I not only got my health back, I got my life back too, only much better than it’s ever been. The only fault I have found with keto is this. I just very sincerely wish that I had discovered it years sooner than I did because I would’ve saved myself from years of torture. No I don’t for one moment see myself as being cured of diabetes. I see myself as someone who has recovered from this global killer disease (one day at a time) And that is more than good enough for me. The fact is, today I’m neither living with, nor suffering from type 2 diabetes. My doctor is over the moon delighted, so is my former diabetic nurse and I’m very happy too. My doctor has even removed me from the diabetic register in his practice. Why has he done that? In his own words to me, because you’re no longer diabetic.

      @@chrisel4349if on a ketogenic diet, they are probably still eating carbs (which turn into sugar), just probably not the high amounts of carbs and sugars that made them get diabetes in the first place. If you are cured from a toxin that made you ill, you don't ingest the toxin again after being cured to see if you can tolerate it now. That would be foolish.

    • @rodbreslin383
      @rodbreslin383 5 месяцев назад +7

      @@BarbaraJ1111 yes it is cured and will remain cured so long as I don’t go shovelling carbs, starches and sugars down my neck again 😂 And I don’t think there’s any chance of that ever happening. Some people ask if keto is sustainable. My answer to that is, it all depends on your WHY. Why are you doing keto? If it’s just for weight loss then maybe you could go back to your old bad eating habits. But if you’re doing keto to remain free of a global killer disease then yes, keto is very sustainable then. Apart from that there’s no getting away from the fact that the food on keto is just simply downright delicious so that’s what makes it so very easy to sustain. After almost 7 years I’m still enjoying it and I do feel deprived in anyway whatsoever. Weight loss is also very sustainable on keto as I’m still managing to hold on to my ideal body weight years after I began eating this way, and with very little effort too. I’ve never had to count or restrict calories at all. In fact calories is something that you don’t even need to think about when you’re on keto. You eat until you’re comfortably full then stop. And don’t eat when you’re not hungry. Because you’re no longer craving carbs/sugar you can go for much longer without wanting or needing to eat. Another thing I no longer need to think about too is diabetes. Simply because it’s no longer a problem for me, it’s just not there anymore. Call it whatever you want, remission, reversed, cured? Whatever you want. I personally don’t care so long as I no longer have to live with it.

    Guess what? It was never a fad and has been around for centuries. It was used to treat epilepsy before meds were created, and is still used for med-resistant cases (should be used in all cases, IMO). There are also books written as early as the late 1700s talking about carb restriction for obesity and it is also well documented in helping to reverse type 2.
    Just because you haven’t heard of it, and it seemingly becomes popular “all of a sudden,” doesn’t make it a fad.

    Just because there’s not an abundance of research does not mean that is not even more effective than a medication. Many people understand and believe the fact that if you eat high sugar/high carbohydrate/high fat & very unhealthy foods that it will lead to weight gain, diabetes, heart issues, depression, etc, but those same people think it’s outlandish that very healthy foods could cure or prevent those same diseases. When you truly think about that fact, it makes absolutely no sense. Unfortunately, the pharmaceutical industry is very powerful and it’s hard to fund any type of research study on something that is not going to make them money. Why is it so outlandish that the type of food we put in our body could cure or prevent a disease, but acceptable that a pill produced by a pharmaceutical industry will fix the problem?

After two years in ketosis i stopped the injections. No signs of dystonia. I too thought it was too good to be true and went back to eating lots of processed crap. The dystonia is coming back. So I’m back in ketosis. And it’s not linked to heart disease.

    I was always skeptical about cutting out carbs. But now I know it works. After 2 months of cutting out carbs and added sugar, I went for a checkup at my doctor. My blood pressure and blood sugar were absolutely perfect. My cholesterol was 289. The doctors wanted to put me on medication for cholesterol and I said no thanks. I told him I've been cutting out carbs, and he asked me why. I said because carbs spiked your blood sugar which can cause heart disease. He says to me sugar isn't really a problem. LOL. He says to me just eat whatever you want and portion size. I just said yeah okay and left. Then he says stay away from the eggs and red meat and full fat dairy.

    There's nothing wrong with mixing it all together - exercise, water, good nutrition, and medication. I used to know a lady who was schizophrenic. She took meds, exercised, drank water the right way, intermittent fasted (this was in the late 1990s!), and ate good nutrition, like plenty of fish. She had ZERO symptoms.
    This is the answer.

    • @metabolicmind
      @metabolicmind 5 месяцев назад +2

      Great question! A ketogenic diet typically lowers carbohydrates enough so your body switches from burning glucose (sugar) for energy to burning fat, either stored body fat or dietary fat. As a result, your liver creates ketones, which your brain and body can use for energy. You can achieve ketosis with multiple types of diets, including vegan, vegetarian, Mediterranean, omnivore, and carnivore. Intermittent fasting is also a tool used by many to help with being in ketosis.

    I understand not stopping meds, but why not change your diet? It’s worth a shot. If it doesn’t seem to help, then you can always stop, but given that ketones are the brain’s preferred fuel source and that insulin resistance of the brain can lead to so many other things: Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, MS, etc., why not try it?

      Pharma's control of medical schools, nutritional schools, medical journals, regulating agencies within government (i.e. FDA), media, and the government has made a concerted effort into scaring people about the ketogenic diet. That's why many people won't consider it. But I agree with you, why not try something that is very inexpensive and has a low adverse event risk. Side effects may include fatty liver reversal, lower blood pressure, weight loss (if over weight), less aches and pains, neuropathy reversal, diabetes reversal, PCOS reversal, better HDL cholesterol levels, and better triglyceride levels. But, but, but...my LDL cholesterol might go up a bit! Then again it might not. Also your LDL will definitely become healthier, even if it does go up some.

    I feel like "treatment resistant" would probably be related to a failure to address the root cause of the problem. They try to "overpower" the problem with powerful medications and then call it "treatment resistant" when they hit a stone wall. Obviously I'm talking from a laymen's perspective and I have no degree in anything, but everyone is capable of doing their own research into diet options.

    Psychologists have been saying for at least 20 years that a diet full of fish and vegetables will alleviate depression and mental illness. There were studies years ago that found fish oil and a healthy diet containing fish and vegetables did a better job than anti-depressants. Doctors in Europe used to recommend it before patients resorted to anti-depressants (which have numerous serious side effects).

      We didn’t start out that way. Everything, from Adam and Eve, to the animals, were all created by YHVH, incarnate bodily in Jesus Christ, to eat from the trees and plants, because the world was created perfectly, and dèath did not enter the world until sìn entered the world, when Adam willingly disobeyed YHVH, and Eve was deceived into disobedience to Him. Even after Adam and Eve were removed from the Garden of Eden, there’s no change to their diet mentioned until after the flood, when YHVH gave Noah and his family instructions that they could eat everything, including the wild beasts of the earth. Scripture does say after the fall in the Garden, the first dèath was the animal YHVH had to kìIl to make coverings for the nakedness of Adam and Eve, which is pointing to God’s future incarnation as the Messiah, the LORD Jesus Christ, when He would be the final and only sàcrifce at the cross to provide His shed ßIood as a covering for our nakedness, all who believe on Christ as their God and Savior, as nakedness in scripture is often used as a reference to sìn. When Christ returns and establishes His earthly kingdom, scripture says that the beasts of the animal kingdom will play with children, with no fear of one another, and it seems to be because humans and animals will once again exist in fellowship with each other like in the Garden before the fall, which means animals no longer have to fear being kìIled and eaten for food.
