You mentioned that the Roku client does not play content "bit perfect" or in uncompressed format. Is this a limitation of the Roku stick, or is the Roku 3 also limited in this respect? What resolution/quality is supported? Thanks.

iMac Pro, 64 MB, High Sierra 10.13.6. Most recent Plex Server and Player. I have 1000 Mbps fiberoptic internet connection.
My Plex Server is always launched and my Plex Player works on my Mac
Roku 4 Plex Channel does not connect to my iMac Pro where my media is.
Any of you who are experienced in this specific problem/question, would you please help.

Wow i have to buy more hardware for my computer, $$$$. Is there a service that can do it for you and put it in a flashdrive or something, W/O the hassle of having to buy extra stuff for the computer.

No final encoding? Each episode in full HD and HD audio tracks will be about 20GB!

Yes, if you want the best video quality and lossless audio, you'll have to have the larger file size. If you are willing to sacrifice quality, handbrake has worked well for me in the past.

my hard drive is running out memory, if I get a second hard drive, how do I get plex to read the files on it?

You would simply add the directories with content on your new hard drive, to the existing libraries in plex.

No reason to get plex if your going to use a pc...windows media player is a stream media server if you have movies on your hard drives..your pc will stream to any roku without plex..Nas would be a better media library media server than pc..

Hi. Unless you are ready to get suckered. stay away from the Roku 4. The geniuses at ROKU (Were pressured or bribed by 4K content providers) implemented HDCP 2.2 on this box leaving most of us who already own 4K TVs purchased before 2014 in the dirt. We are left to either repurchase our 4K tvs or purchase a very pricey HDCP 2.2 to HDCP 1.4 converter (Average cost about $300.00). "Oh boy", I hear everyone say!!! To make it even better... Even if your TV is HDCP 2.2 compliant and you are using a Home Theater Receiver, the odds are it is not HDCP 2.2 compliant. You probably will need to replace that as well, since all devices in the chain require HDCP 2.2 capability. These devices cannot be brought into compliance since the HDCP 2.2 protocol is chip based not firmware. GREAT!!! At least Sony (On it's 4K Media Player) provided separate video and audio HDMI outputs so you would not need to replace a NON-HDCP 2.2 receiver. The video connects directly to a compatible 4K TV and the audio can connect to Home Theater Receiver that is not HDCP 2.2 capable. (This way you do not necessarily need to replace your receiver to view 4K and still get your 5.1 surround sound). BTW: Calling Support for help on ROKU 4 is like shooting yourself in the foot.. VERY painful. So do not waste your time calling since they outsource support to India. (As anyone who has talked to India based support, we know they all go to the same school of customer relations. Do not listen to the customer, do not answer direct questions but side step and change the topic instead of answering, and also the famous "I am Sorry for your inconvenience" statement instead of saying "Here is how we fix your issue". The support tech had no clue what HDCP 2.2 meant and thought the error message meant I had to go buy another HDMI 2.0 cable. After trying to explain to him that HDCP 2.2 and HDMI 2.0 were different things, he refused to talk any more to me until I agreed to spend $40.00 for new HDMI cable, which of course did not solve the problem. Support was kind enough not to answer any direct questions and did relay their sincere apologies for my frustration. (A whole lotta help!!!). Yikes!! ROKU get your act together before selling devices with features useless to most of us at the present time!!! SHAME ON YOU!! Cheers, John -- A link to the Cheapest HDMI 2.2 to HDCP 1.4 converter I found to fix this stupid ROKU 4. Notice they already advertise that it fixes the ROKU 4 basic and widespread incompatibility LOL,,, HOW COULD ROKU IGNORE THIS ISSUE OR BE UNAWARE!!! www.hdtvsupply.com/hdcp-2-2-to-hdcp-1-4-converter.html?gclid=CjwKEAiA2IO0BRDXmLndksSB0WgSJADNKqqolPAfEbG0eSd8Zgz4jCOhSNR-5BSQLaL19oK4NkY2IhoCsLLw_wcB

Sound s like bull shit I think I stick with Netflix

+funa mota It's not. Stick with Netflix if you want. When you're streaming to more than two screens on the same account and they want you pay more, and you get sick of searching for movies they don't have, that you own at home (but perhaps you're traveling), then you may want to look into Plex.
I find it terribly valuable, as i've ripped down all of my movies in their blu ray quality, all of my FLAC-based music, and TV shows that i acquired through capture card, and can stream all of that anywhere on any device, and i don't need to worry about if/when Netflix decides to remove that particular movie from their service. Also, Netflix doesn't even handle music.
Don't get me wrong, i still use Netflix - they have hundreds of movies i enjoy that i don't want to purchase, but for my high quality content i own, i want access to it without depending on them.

Netflix and Hulu do not play YOUR dvd and bluray library. They only play THEIR libraries. Lots of people have ripped their onw media libraries to hard drive - that's why you would want PLEX.
