Because really, when did you ever hear for alcoholic that is good fighter, or strong, or enything good? They barely walk, had headaches, shallow breathing from arythmia (to quick heartbeats), are depressed, totally can't say "no" to theri addiction, not to mention mental state similar to schizophrenia that is characterized by extremely paranoya, ultra-realistic nightmares and suicidal thoughts! Now we can only assume that originally this music scenes was supposed to be animated but small budget and time constriction prevented it(The other two cartoons of the same director are fully animated). We can deduce thus because the first song is animated and performed by characters from the cartoon. It is a song that teaches us that love for money is not a good thing (oh that soviets) - about boy Billy(that means captain William Bonce) who loved money but forget that so many others people love it too

What I really like about the voice acting for Livesey is you can tell he’s smiling while speaking. In fact, you can almost hear that he’s reading the lines through his teeth in order to make it sound like the Doctor’s expressions.

Yeah it is. «17 Moments of Spring» is a movie about the soviet spy behind the german lines in 1945.
It had character introductions disguised as SS Gestapo report
Treasure Island refers to that part of the series (17 MoS is not a movie, it's a 12 episode serial)

I'm a native speaker of russian language and I really love the play of Livsey's voice actor. I don't envy people, who can't feel the beauty of oringinal language, because it's really amazing. In comparison with subtitles, I can say, that true russian speaking Livsey way more cooler and complicated character, that english Livsey. Very bad for english speakers, that they can't fully understand the real Livsey's personality. Livsey's voice actor done a great job, but the main job was done by a russian language and its versatility
No disrespect for english language, and english speakers. Love you all

Holy hell, I remember actually watching this cartoon when I grew up in Gdynia (Poland)
Had no idea what they were talking about (they spoke russian, duh) but I remember that Livesey made me laugh so badly due to him being such a cheerful person.
A few years later me and my buds still make subtle references to this cartoon, specially when one of us are drunk.
