“The words “rum” and “death” should mean the same thing to you! Do you understand?” Why has this not even been mentioned in the lists of The Top Greatest Quotes of All Time!? And Livesey is 100% correct on this being a doctor!
In the book, Jim(the protagonist)‘s father was dying of an illness at the beginning of the story, and Dr. Livesey was the one taking care of him, so when Billy Bones had his stroke, Livesey came by soon after to continue treating the father. Since the cartoon took out Jim’s dad, they just have Livesey materialize right as he’s called.
Fun fact: in the original novel, he even treated and tried to help every injured or sick pirate, even if they were his enemies. The guy never forgot his Hippocratic Oath.
I've never heard about this character before, but i did now...and it's incredibly well designed,it have a charismatic voice,a confident posture, with obscure and psychopathic behavior, it's brilliant. something i notice is that he always walks by putting one foot directly ahead of the other in its path and moves the other around in turn to proceed. an unconscious reflex to hone balance and muscle control in light of his tremendous upper body development, which he never seems to suffer from incorrect balance of. i havent seen this entire movie but i notice that hes never unhappy or in any need to run or rush, moving only at his own pace. perfectly in control of his environment and at peace and ease with his surroundings and the world, accepting life as it is and then making what of it he can as he goes along regardless of whether it goes according to plan. no effort is involved. this is the man, the ideal, we all wish we could be but never can because trying is failing
If you saw the whole cartoon it contains the live action musical numbers which all about the benefits of sports and the dangers of drinking and smoking. Now we can only assume that originally this music scenes was supposed to be animated but small budget and time constriction prevented it(The other two cartoons of the same director are fully animated). We can deduce thus because the first song is animated and performed by characters from the cartoon. It is a song that teaches us that love for money is not a good thing (oh that soviets) - about boy Billy(that means captain William Bonce) who loved money but forget that so many others people love it too
I feel like he could be the main character of an anime, where he has a profound impact on everyone around him, but throughout the show you're never 100% sure if he's on your side or not
Whoever decided to bring them back as a meme just unlocked my childhood memory I remember those characters and I just LOVED them so much as a kid when I used to watch TV it was so funny the way they spoke the way it was animated it just filled my heart with warm hapiness and now that it came back as a meme all around the world it makes me even happier

Livesy has got to be one of the most charming characters I've ever seen, from the second I heard the way he talks, including the laugh, he had me smiling the whole time he was on screen
0:27 Not everyone will know, but this is a parody of the very popular Soviet spy drama "17 Moments of Spring" about a Russian mole inside the SS at the end of WWII. When some of the characters are introduced, their file appears on screen and the narrator reads a biography.

Like it's their "personal file"? This film was quite a phenomenon in the USSR and so was the voice of the narrator (actor Yefim Kopelyan), so they just did a parody of it in Treasure Island some 15 years later"
Enlarged liver, very good/ Enlarged spleen, excellent/ Arrhythmia, just lovely.
Damn, he really doesn't care about this waste of human life.
He does it again later, this time to four pirates who smoke too much. Gives a terrible diagnosis and reacts positively to it.
Those things mean pay day for our good doctor. Very good reason to be happy.
@@riissanen93 Oh, he's not charging. ...not really providing treatment either.

Why has this not even been mentioned in the lists of The Top Greatest Quotes of All Time!?
And Livesey is 100% correct on this being a doctor!
it's "Livesey"

as a paramedic, dr livesey is my spirit animal.
Okay, I can see why this character turned into a meme. It's funny and wholesome to see old stuff getting a new life nowadays.
I love how he just sounds so manic and crazy.
"Enlarged liver, very good! Enlarged spleen, excellent! Arrhytmia, just lovely! Very splendid!"
I love the fact that Doctor Livesey just stood outside, waiting to be called.
I guess it’s assumed there’s some time between frames
In the book, Jim(the protagonist)‘s father was dying of an illness at the beginning of the story, and Dr. Livesey was the one taking care of him, so when Billy Bones had his stroke, Livesey came by soon after to continue treating the father.
Since the cartoon took out Jim’s dad, they just have Livesey materialize right as he’s called.
Calls him a waste of human life, still chooses to treat him anyway. Why? Because doctor livesey is a consummate professional god dammit!
Fun fact: in the original novel, he even treated and tried to help every injured or sick pirate, even if they were his enemies. The guy never forgot his Hippocratic Oath.
Сильный комментарий ,полное уважение к автору😊
Because a true doctor never violates Hippocrates Oath.
dude falls down the stairs
chad liveseys: have you been drinking?
The voice acting is literally so good
I've never heard about this character before, but i did now...and it's incredibly well designed,it have a charismatic voice,a confident posture, with obscure and psychopathic behavior, it's brilliant.
And i think the most of the people agree with me on this due to the recent reaction of the internet to him
The Fact He is a Real Human
There's nothing psycopathic about him, he is just an experienced doctor who's seen many a drunkards
@@zsupersaiyan He tells people they're dying with a disquieting grin on his face and laughing constantly. When noting symptoms, he says, "Good, good, good" or "Excellent..." There is something not right with him. It's just that he not right in just the right ways for him to be an incredible character.
Fun fact:
While not as comedic and happy as this version, the original Livesey from the novel is a true badass as well
@@Madheim777
Just want to underline this. Without going into spoilers, Dr Livesey is the main reason the expedition succeeds.
I love this so much! I can't help but laugh just from the Doctor Livesey being a huge chad him picking up the drunk Captain like a rag doll with two fingers!!
Against all odds managing to keep a random skull in his small pocket AND a bottle of rum just to taunt the alcoholic Captain, smiling as he tells him he's going to die. And somehow appearing at the door on command, (Jim calls for a Doctor, but then Livesey introduces himself and they've never met?!?!?)
P.S. How did Livesey know Jim's name at the end and the final laugh MY GOD that final laugh hahaha
🤣 thank you for your comment! It made me chuckle
i think he was introducing himself to the captain
@@JacobVonRoker that was pretty obvious

It's a shame that the English dubbed version removed the rum and death scene.
This guy is both creepy and funny
Exactly , as a Russian i can confirm that there are a lot of memes in Russian internet about Livesey character description actually being a lot darker than it appears on the show .
To be honest, Livesly gives me a lot of bad vibes, even if throughout the movie he's a swell guy
Fr there’s something unnerving about his whole demeanor.
@@ScrewBallTheAlien I mean, considering he takes every serious thing as a laughing matter with a giant grin on his face... unnerving is a mild description imo

0:28 I feel like I'm looking at a pshyco maniac but at the same time a very trustworthy man
He is a very trustworthy psycho maniac.
He's very reliable. But you'd best hope that he's on your side
Exactly man. Thats why I think he's so interesting.
Now this is some advanced bot behavior ^
In the shot at 0:38 he's holding a pair of glasses, but he never actually wears any. I think this means that he brings a pair of glasses around just so he can do that
something i notice is that he always walks by putting one foot directly ahead of the other in its path and moves the other around in turn to proceed. an unconscious reflex to hone balance and muscle control in light of his tremendous upper body development, which he never seems to suffer from incorrect balance of. i havent seen this entire movie but i notice that hes never unhappy or in any need to run or rush, moving only at his own pace. perfectly in control of his environment and at peace and ease with his surroundings and the world, accepting life as it is and then making what of it he can as he goes along regardless of whether it goes according to plan. no effort is involved. this is the man, the ideal, we all wish we could be but never can because trying is failing
Honestly Dr Livesy is a very clever character idea.He basically emphasizes the danger of excessive drinking and instructs children to avoid it
If you saw the whole cartoon it contains the live action musical numbers which all about the benefits of sports and the dangers of drinking and smoking. Now we can only assume that originally this music scenes was supposed to be animated but small budget and time constriction prevented it(The other two cartoons of the same director are fully animated). We can deduce thus because the first song is animated and performed by characters from the cartoon. It is a song that teaches us that love for money is not a good thing (oh that soviets) - about boy Billy(that means captain William Bonce) who loved money but forget that so many others people love it too
I feel like he could be the main character of an anime, where he has a profound impact on everyone around him, but throughout the show you're never 100% sure if he's on your side or not
So Omniman
He'd fit right in with One Piece.
No Dr Livesey is PycckN All Way
Whoever decided to bring them back as a meme just unlocked my childhood memory I remember those characters and I just LOVED them so much as a kid when I used to watch TV it was so funny the way they spoke the way it was animated it just filled my heart with warm hapiness and now that it came back as a meme all around the world it makes me even happier

What I really like about the voice acting for Livesey is you can tell he’s smiling while speaking. In fact, you can almost hear that he’s reading the lines through his teeth in order to make it sound like the Doctor’s expressions.

Yeah it is. «17 Moments of Spring» is a movie about the soviet spy behind the german lines in 1945.
It had character introductions disguised as SS Gestapo report
Treasure Island refers to that part of the series (17 MoS is not a movie, it's a 12 episode serial)

I'm a native speaker of russian language and I really love the play of Livsey's voice actor. I don't envy people, who can't feel the beauty of oringinal language, because it's really amazing. In comparison with subtitles, I can say, that true russian speaking Livsey way more cooler and complicated character, that english Livsey. Very bad for english speakers, that they can't fully understand the real Livsey's personality. Livsey's voice actor done a great job, but the main job was done by a russian language and its versatility
No disrespect for english language, and english speakers. Love you all

The voice actor for livesy, Evgeny Paperny, is still alive and he even repeated the lines live.
he (the writer) lets the doctor describe himself in actions. He is intelligent, brave and has cool headed-qualities that win the day against the cunning and ruthlessness of his formidable adversary Silver.
