Abellio intends to refurbish the 321s with decent seating that lines up with the windows and air conditioning. This is maybe the most promising thing yet from privatization, it's what the 321s should have been from the start to make them worthy successors to the 309 Clactons. It seems much like the old Southern railway the Dutch have a tradition of efficiency when it comes to recycling older equipment to fit in with modern rail needs. The company has received somewhat unfair criticism from problems with "deferred maintenance" from the track infrastructure providers, Network Rail themselves having to re-skill to replace essential workers laid off in the early stage of privatization.
