Looking at the folks around the Z28 as the auction started...sure sign the market demographic is aging out & a price drop will start hitting within a decade. Model A's, Model T's, brass-era, pre-war cars, post-war cars, and '50's into mid-'60's cars are a great example of this.

Good observation. I recall when the big televised auctions started to barely get or not sell beautiful 30sPackards and 40s cars because more was spent on restoring them and the guys they appeal to aren't around. Some of these cars may get restored. Some of themsome old guy will just take it home because he wanted one like he had and he'll just keep it until he dies

Another interesting video. Obviously, prices are what the market (at the time) will pay. However, imo these seem uniformly high even in 2024.
Note: I collect and have won many vehicles on BaT, Cars&Bids and a few at in-person auctions the latter before 2020. Including one RS from this era. ‘Projects’ in general and esp where much of the hard stuff is left to do typically don’t get premiums like this. Maybe exotic Italians or 911s or XKEs - even then most buyers want them left w/“easy” stuff. But, these bidders here at this auction seem to want big Chevy projects and/or got wrapped up in the bidding. It happens. 😊

People with more money than brains. That '69 Camaro will need at least $30k more to make a decent car and it still won't be worth it as the matching number engine is not there. The blue Chevelle was a MUCH better deal>>at least it's not total JUNK. Just because it is a Camaro and maybe has Z28 or SS emblem on it does NOT make it worth a lot. Junk is still JUNK.

It’s become fashionable to overpay for everything. Unless they are restoring these cars themselves, it’s safe to say they will have 1000 plus hours plus parts.
Folks, that’s over 100k. Is it worth it? We need price correction and only one event will do that..... crash.
I had a 65 Chevelle SS, 327, 4sp......in the mid 80’s. Got in it and drove the wheels off it ......$700.
Road Runners, Chevelles......, could easily pick one up for under a grand.
My trophy find, my 69 A12 Super Bee... $500 in ‘85 and I still have it. A buddy bought a Yenko Nova a short time after.....$1,000...... sold it to the Pres of Yenko Club for 20k.
The horrid hobby by the common man is being destroyed by people that are seeking a flip.
If one could go back to the 80’s and stock em in a barn........ the government would have a hayday with unrealized capital gains.

I'm a huge camaro /chevy fan. Owned, built, restored alot of them. 1st off when your a camaro guy something that will set you off is someone putting the letter "e" in the name. C A M A R O. no e 2nd it isn't rust free when your showing a rear quarter with rust and you pan up and the trunk channel has rust and you show the hood and front fender and there's rust. Rust is rust and the prices paid were way out of line. It's not the 80s where you could get a great near mint 1 for 10 grand. Times have changed and so has peoples ideas of a good price for a ruff car. Good luck.

Folks it’s not the 80s anymore….do people realize if they ever restore it correctly the car sells upwards of 2 or 300 thousand….you will make your money back easily With the prices these days….I admit it’s a little different on the price for starter cars but that’s just how it is now

    • @gordocarbo
