I am just a beginner and found it difficult to see how you grabbed the image to fill the text. Where was this sitting prior to grabbing it? I also missed how you stared with a colour fill layer is there another video I should watch to learn this? But this video was exactly what I was looking for
Hi Lynette! welcome to the world of Photoshop.
Aaron selected the flowers image with the move tool and then dragged it inside the PSD file.Alternatively, open your flower image in a separate document, select the entire image (Command + A on Mac or Ctrl+A on PC), and copy it. Then, switch to your text document and paste the copied image.

So if you wanted to put the finished lettering on a shirt, would you just group them as a single layer and then remove the white?

Thanks for the content! Can you explain your creative/ workflow purpose/reason for beginning the (or any) project with a color fill layer? I’m learning the platform and I notice that everyone has their own way and reason for doing things and as I develop my own flow and style I’d like to be able incorporate and try different techniques out.
