Timber chisel handle replacement - Woodturning

A friend from work took a timber framing class and bought a few chisels. One of them was beat so bad in one week that it needed the handle replaced. He asked me to help. I designed a new handle and used a much more appropriate wood.

Looks like he went at it with a hammer. Didn’t think you were supposed to use a hammer on a “slick”.

The proper name is "register chisel" used for finishing mortises.
