- The Relic? Gone. Atlas? On the brink. And Salem? She’s real. And she’s here.
Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang and the rest of our heroes find themselves trapped. On one side, they’re fugitives and former allies are now enemies. On the other, Grimm. Salem and her forces are on Atlas’s doorstep and if Atlas falls, the rest of the world won’t be long after. The battle draws near and it’ll take a united front if there’s any hope of victory, but that’s easier said than done when united is something Remnant has never been.

Which goes to my next point, not only are the women more likely to telling the truth than Vic Mignogna, but I'd go for them anyway, seeing how much the Vic stans acted disgustingly irredeemable by being awful to the victims

It's about damn time Mercury gets brought back into the fray. He's the only current villain aside from Salem who isn't entirely incompetent and actually gets shit done. He deserves the promotion.
I'm telling you, Mercury's eyes have been haunting me since we first met him and there's a reason why no one has mentioned it. His semblance was taken away due to his father knowing the legend of warriors with silver eyes (although this could be a long shot)

Notice how Salem is the King on the black side of Chess, while Ironwood is the Queen. The King on the white side is still in play, which is where our heroes will come in, of course.

Based on this opening, Jaune seem to be the only one of the heroes who doesn’t have a problem with his personal life.
Edit: I was not expecting this comment to get so much attention, thanks everyone. Also I know this comment is now inaccurate considering what happened at the end of V8 seem like the writing staff felt that the Jaune needed more trauma considering that he was moving on from Pyrrha’s death.
His arc seems to be almost done...... They could kill him
His family is probably the most secure, out of them all. He's also been through a hard tragedy (Yes, a number of them have, I'm not belittling them at all) and has been slowly recovering and grown a lot since then, so it actually makes sense. He's focused on the here and now, helping those he can that are with him.

The ending of the volume 7 opening looked so hopeful, with everyone united.
The ending of the volume 8 opening features no people, just Ruby's weapon in the snow, all by itself. I'm very concerned.
I think this is the first opening where the characters don't appear at the end of the opening

Seeing as the intros lyrics have always kinda foreshadowed the season's events I am really believing that Team RWBY will be utterly defeated in this season
They should, the brought out the top villain and who is always talking tough. It would be weird if she failed the same ways her henchmen did after being so forceful. The dumbest written mistake would be to push her to the front as a threat then put her in the back again.

Just something I wanted to bring attention to:
Emerald appears with Neo in Cinder's scene in the opening but Mercury appears together with the rest of Salem's cabal.
Given how he acted in volume 6, I imagine Mercury is going to end up more loyal to Salem than Cinder.
I agree! The theme of this volume is divide, and since our teams are split, it would make sense to split the villains. I think mercury would split from emerald because even since volume 2 they haven't had the same mindset. And neo and emerald being together, they might both realize that they don't want to be with cinder anymore, its gonna be sad once emerald realizes cinder doesn't care about her tho 😔
I also think Mercury splitting from them will help with Emerald's divide. Because despite the fact that they have very different mindsets, they do genuinely seem to care for one another, so I think Emerald is going to have the conflict of choosing between her loyalty and love for Cinder and her love for Mercury (And I don't mean romantic love, I mean like familial, brother/sister type love).

I don't think Mercury and Emerald care for each other more than Emerald idolizes Cinder.
@@HappyPotat Yeah, you're probably right. But the way I see it is I feel like Mercury's separation will start to loosen Emerald's resolve, not completely turn her against Cinder. It'll probably be a really slow going process between either just this volume, or the next few. Idk though. I could be wrong. Lol.

The ending of crescent rose being all alone makes think that ruby is going to be separated from the others at the end of the volume. Probably kidnapped by Salem.
That or it gets destroyed or lost.

I think its about Summer's story or past. Because that part reminds me red trailer. Of course it can be she will be last one to stand (physical or psychological) or get seperated from others (Salem kidnaps theory [also grimm hands that grab Ruby are the hands Salem used on Hazel at v6 when Salem talks about their failure, so its highly possible] or she leaves them). Anyway those were my thoughts.

That last line really hits, because they're risking both Atlus and Mantle to save the latter.

@@Seirin-Blu nah I believe that they had a stumbling point during volume 4-6 but got better during 7-8 so a reboot during that time would allow them to redo mistake and provide better plot

I love all rwby intros, they show scenes that are vaguely explaining what’s about to go down. Personally I think it’s so interesting and unique to this series.
Every intro sets the tone of each volume. That's how I see it
Jojo's bizarre adventure does something pretty similar with their openings

Okay so like, is there actually ANY other American-produced animated show that has OPs anywhere CLOSE to as good as what RWBYs got? Heck, most shows are stuck with just one OP for their entire run, two if they're lucky. RWBY gets a new OP for EVERY VOLUME, and they just keep getting BETTER!

Phyra is Leonidas, who was the king of Sparta and sacrificed himself even knowing it might not be enough to do any difference, only to serve as the spark to move the armies of Sparta and the other city states.
Nora is Thor who died during Ragnarok.
Ren is Mulan who died for his honor and to atone for her actions of joining the army even if she was a woman
And Jaune is Jean D'Arc who was burned in the stake, growing during the war she helped bring it to an end but was betrayed in the end and sacrificed for the sake of others.
Basically, they are all kind of marked to die

it's pretty much Civil War/Infinity War vibes since 1) Everyone is pretty much divided with their own beliefs and 2) We have to prepare who's most likely gonna die in this volume
I really hope not. Endgame basically just undid everything that happened in Infinity War and trivialized all the characters' deaths.
