Hi from Ottawa! Great video, I've got to give my Ryker it's first change once the snow has gone and this is the best step by step video I've seen. Thanks so much for sharing this!
Great video! I am ready to change my 2021 900 ACE oil this weekend. Looks very straight thru operation. Thanks for the video. I am gonna try it with no ramps. Lol Awesome job!
You just reminded me that I never received a manual with mine. I was planning a trip to the dealer today anyway so I will try to remember to ask for one. I only have a little over 400 miles (approx 643 Km) on it so far, so not quite ready for an oil change. Thanks for the nice tutorial. I have to say though that I was really worried about your pretty ring getting dinged and scratched!
Great job, very clear and concise, thanks for showing us, i see the Tofino t shirt, i am from Victoria, getting my bike in the spring, thanks again for the very clear video Mike
@@RideForAdventures For sure, I'm just lazy.. 🙃. I've had my kit for like a month already, like $50. Prolly knock it out next week, maybe film too, but won't be half as informative as yours I'm sure.. 😅. ..Most my install/maintenance videos are just me making fun of Kevin's feet.. 👣💯🐭 Looking forward to seeing your trip on here! Sounds hella cool!
Your welcome. Thank you for watching! There will be more coming on maintenance and gear installation. I ride for adventure so videos will apply to adventure riding😀
There is no need to do a reset. Write down your mileage in your manual and change the oil every 10,000 km as the manual suggests. I change mine every 6000 km
It’s recommended to change the oil every 6000 miles (10,000 kms). I will change mine and do all maintenance at about every 8000 miles. This includes air filters and a thorough inspection.
That would definitely get her heated. But then there’s the parking, ungearing (if you wear gear), jacking the bike, preparing the tools etc. The oil temp would have cooled somewhat by then. I always bring my engine up to running temp before I ride, as recommended. I don’t think it’s an issue for the engine.
that tiny funnel was designed ONLY for the gas tank. It was never meant to be used for an oil funnel. For one thing it doesn't have very big opening like an oil funnel would have, and secondly, any oil film left on it will attract dirt in it's storage compartment, and I'd never want to then use it for gasoline.
Your right, it is a gas funnel. But I found it handy to use for filling the oil. Of course you wouldn’t want to leave it oily. It’s really not hard to clean the oil from it.
@Spydie Actually I’m thinking because the oil intake is so small anyways, using a larger funnel may cause a very quick over flow. I liked using this little funnel because I could see through it and pour slowly so as not to over fill or splatter back. We have lots of funnels in our shop too lol
Geez she's not working on a trillion Doller space shuttle.you can use the same funnel for Gas,water, coolent, ice cream ,beer, and soda. Wipe it out and relax..the world will end soon enough. Enjoy your day.
I think you removed the drain plugs in incorrect order. The larger one is supposed to be removed first as per BRP instructions. There must be a reason for the particular order.
Great video. I especially like your assistant in the garage with you. Fur babies are the best.
Absolutely perfect demo. Great video angles. Thank you!
Your welcome. I’m glad it was helpful😁
Great video gotta do my oil change, on the Gulf coast...Texas
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you..I got to do my 900 before I ride this spring. It's way over due so it's a must have😎
Be sure to drop in a subscription😊Thanks! You got this!
Awesome video, very upclose and detailed. I have all stuff ready for my 600. Will be watching again. Thank you!
Thankyou for watching! If you have questions, I can help.😁
Great job, very clear instructions. I'm planning to change the oil in my 900 this spring
Thanks! I’m glad it was helpful🙂
Very concise but detailed explanation of the procedure. Thanks for posting.
You are welcome! Thanks for watching👍
Hello from New Hampshire, Great video, very confident in doing this myself and saving me some cash. Thank you

Thank you Knight Ryker!
your videos are just excellent, thank you so much.
Thanks Toby!
Are you still riding?
@@VinCode17 Not my Ryker but yes on my sled (snowmobile) in the B.C. mountains up at 6-7000 ft. Snow much fun!!
Thanks Kare!! Changing oil tomorrow.
Brilliant Cindy! Msg me if you need help🙂

I know! My ring!! Yikes. I did take it off later in the vid. I really don’t like wearing rubber gloves but maybe should have😊

Thank you! And thank you for watching! More coming your way over the winter. Don’t forget to follow on our trip north in july😃
Great job on oil change
Thanks!

Great job. Time to Ride..
Thanks!
Thank you for the informative video👍

Hi from newmarket Ontario Canada
Hi Bill. I just saw your comment now. Nice to see a Canadian rider!
Love the video, thanks for making it.
Your welcome Logan. Thanks for watching
Man.. I keep getting all these reminders to change mine.. 😅
It’s pretty important to help prolong engine life. It takes about an hour. My cost was 75.00$. For me it’s always about finding the time too.

@@RideForAdventures Great I love adv. Vids too. I have the 900 Ace and love it but all my adventures are on the pavement. 😃
@@CeeDeeLight That’s cool! You will still learn lots here.
you are such a good mechanic! I was just wondering? who does the cooking :)?
Haha Thankyou! Cooking is usually a shared event.😁
Great job you go girl...
Where you get your tor wrench
Thanks! You can get a torque wrench at any store that sells automotive tools/equipment. Mine was purchased at Lordco here in Canada
From the Torque wrench store.🤣🤣🤣
Very informative, but how do I reset the computer after I change the oil?
There is no need to do a reset. Write down your mileage in your manual and change the oil every 10,000 km as the manual suggests. I change mine every 6000 km
@@RideForAdventures True, and I do that but wanted to reset the oil change reminder also...
It may be because mine is a 2019, but I do not have any alerts or reminders to change the oil at specific mileage.
Doesn't just removing the sump drain also drain the block?
They are two separate things. This is a dry sump engine. The crank and the sump are separate components.
How are you ? Question when can I do my first oil change ?
Hello! I am great. Your first oil change should be done at 6000 miles. Then every 10,000 or once a year.
@@RideForAdventures thank you 😊
Hello. What are the dimensions of those oil drain plugs washers? Thank you :-)
The kit comes with washers so you don’t need the dimensions
When is it recommended to change the oil. I purchased mine used with 3400miles and now have 3700 miles? 2 months going on 3 months since owned.
It’s recommended to change the oil every 6000 miles (10,000 kms). I will change mine and do all maintenance at about every 8000 miles. This includes air filters and a thorough inspection.
@@RideForAdventures thank you. Just want to make sure as I have. Transmission Maintenance Required message on my Gauge now
You’ll probably be needing a new cvt belt then. Don’t let that go for long.
Best way to get to cooking temp is to go out for a ride, far better for the engine, then do the procedure.
That would definitely get her heated.
But then there’s the parking, ungearing (if you wear gear), jacking the bike, preparing the tools etc. The oil temp would have cooled somewhat by then.

No video on how it was lifted 😅 moving on
A separate video on my channel. Lifting and blocking a Ryker Rally 900

Where did you get your manual?
The manual came with the bike from the dealer. I also have a shop manual that I found online.
Why wear rings when you are working with oil and the bike? Good idea to wear latex gloves too.
Yes I agree. I never take my ring off but if you notice I did eventually.
The oil change is not about rings, or latex gloves, which I am allergic too.
Don't you love all this free advice as an adult..I get it too, not sure how I made it past 50 without the worlds help.

I think you removed the drain plugs in incorrect order. The larger one is supposed to be removed first as per BRP instructions.
There must be a reason for the particular order.
Hmmm maybe it wouldn’t have erupted so fast then lol. I’ve been doing it for every oil change so it’s probably ok.👌
@@RideForAdventures I don't know the reason behind the sequence but I'm a stickler for following procedure from my time spent wrenching on Navy jets.
No instructions on raising the cam
@@rolandoperez8054 yes there is. Look for Jacking and blocking your Ryker in my videos. There you will find a safe and easy way to raise the bike.
Too much work I rather let the shop go ahead and do it
After doing it once to figure it out it gets very easy and quick. The video is provided for those that want to save $$$.
The audio is terrible......
Sorry to hear that. That’s the first I’ve heard out of thousands.
Im nearly deaf and understood everything. Maybe turn your stereo off.🤔
