    How much did it cost in resin to make this? And how many hours was the printer going? I'm intrigued by the whole DIY industry of action figures.

    • @mlseries2553
      @mlseries2553  Год назад +1

      There are two types of printers that are common. Resin and filament. This is printed on a filament printer which tends to have less resolution but does larger items. The cost of the filament for this was approximately $60 but that does not include the wear and tear on the machine or the hundred or so minutes I spent switching the prints. The printer was running for over 200 hours.

  • @brandonr8269
    @brandonr8269 Год назад +1

    Nice rig. Would just like to say that I think 1/12 is the wrong scale for 1/12 scale/6" figures. Why? Because at 1/12 scale, a 6" figure on average scales to a 6 foot tall human, of course. Some are larger than that: Mad Marauders Barbecue is one that is larger, at 6.47". That means that Barbecue in this case is almost 6'6" tall. Falcon scales to about 6'4", over 6 feet for male Classified figures seems to be the norm. Cover Girl is a 6" figure, or 6 feet tall at 1/12 scale. That makes sense for a former fashion model, but Scarlett and Lady Jaye are the same height at 6" figure, so either GI Joe only hires very tall women or 1/12 scale isn't correct.
    At 1/11 scale however, things start to make more sense. BBQ: 6.47" figure * 11 = 71.17". 71.17" / 12 (convert to feet) = 5.93 feet (or just under 6 feet tall, 5' 11ish) which makes much more sense for an Irish-Bostonian firefighter than 6 foot 6. For Falcon (let's go metric) it's 162mm figure, so 162/1000 = 0.162m * 12 = 1.944m = 6.38' (just shy of 6' 4". At 1/11 scale, the same figure 162mm/1000 (convert to meters) = 0.162m * 11 (scale) = 1.782m tall = 5.85 feet = 5' 10" tall.
    For the female figures, corrected to 1/11 scale it's 152.4mm/1000 = 0.1524m. Convert to human scale is 0.1524 * 11 = 1.6764m tall human female which equals 5.5', or 5' 6" (probably more the case than all 6 foot tall women).
    Thus, since the scale is more precisely 1/11 scale, and there are some fairly big dudes within the ranks, it makes sense to build GI Joe Classified vehicles with a little extra legroom, at 1/10 scale. Anecdotally, I can say that male Classified figures fit perfectly in terms of legroom, headroom, reachability to things like steering wheels and gear shifters and line of sight with my Axial Wraith 1/10 scale RC trail trucks.

    • @BaronNate

      @@mlseries2553 The problem I worry about is things like a Mauler tank, the bridge layer, etc. Those vehicles were pretty beefy at the 3.75 scale, if armored assault vehicles like this are this size, tanks would normally be massive if going on real world stats. That worries me because that limits what can be made both in costs and lets be honest, ROOM SIZE for our collections. Its a legitimate concern I believe. Most of us, with all the money we spent on figures, are lucky if we can afford even a 100 dollar vehicle with a 75 dollar tow behind. That's REALLY stretching our wallets for even us "well to do" collectors. I love this vehicle, no doubt about it. Can you imagine if they did make something like the Mauler or Mobat and gave us a removable top where we could move our figures around in the hull of the vehicle and basically turn it into a playset as well as a vehicle? That would rock. If you put computers in the back of this and had only one or two guys in the back working surveillance, this becomes a "base playset". Just my thoughts.

Everyone was talking about this problem waaaay back when every Joe fan was crying about not having a 1:12 line. Now I hear others b!@#hing about all the problems I just listed, about not having easier access to vehicles for this line.
