Lori Leiberman wrote the song and did it first I think in '71. A year later and the famous version is Roberta Flack. A must listen.

lori provided the story line but she did not write the actual song.
It was writen for Lori by a legendary songwriting duet and she sang hit.
But her version was not a hit.
Roberta Flack recorded it the following year.

New subscriber. So look little brother. I'm 52, grew up listening to hiphop from the early 80's to now. From Curtis Blow to Kendrick. My younger friends think I'm lucky to have lived through that and ask tons of questions. I'm blessed no doubt to have seen and heard all that music as it was made. But I admit, I'm jealous watching you find this music. It is a blessing to see your genuine reaction to great hiphop. Stay cool bro.

I'm so glad that you're appreciating the greatness that is Lauryn Hill aka L Boogie. That's why she's my favorite female rapper. The case you made for Missy is valid to me because she's my second favorite. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

There were some 💎s in the 90's. I don't know why this song made me think of Sugar Ray - "Fly" but there it is.

Lauren Hill I saw with Roots. She had the best answer for music. When asked can you have your favorite song? Get response, the would me saying who is my favorite child. This is my last favorite song The score. But it's great. I like cowboys way

Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill, MC Lyte as far as hip hop voices go. Now you talking R&B? SWV wins all day, every day.
