Lori Leiberman wrote the song and did it first I think in '71. A year later and the famous version is Roberta Flack. A must listen.
lori provided the story line but she did not write the actual song.
It was writen for Lori by a legendary songwriting duet and she sang hit.
But her version was not a hit.
Roberta Flack recorded it the following year.
She's the GOAT of ALL female hip hop/r&b artists
This song made me fall in love with Lauryn Hill. Her voice is amazing

My younger friends think I'm lucky to have lived through that and ask tons of questions. I'm blessed no doubt to have seen and heard all that music as it was made.
