    I wouldn’t know what to do being that organized! I have multiple 48”-60” boxes and I’m used to “piles” of categories. Gorgeous box, as well your entire setup. Btw your height disproportions the mass of all those boxes !

    Love the channel and the wisdom you bring to it...awesome box!!!!..no comparison to the Milwaukee or husky.. 150/300 lb slides 12g steel frame , only thing better is the 30" or tool truck at 3x the price..I ended up a RollCab box. ( by extreme tools)72"box, (150/300lb drawers) hutch / two end lockers..stainless top .$4800..free delivery...side lockers help alot...👍

    Looks like your biggest hurdle is the way things are organized. Toolbox Widget for wrenches, peg style socket setup, or even just the standard tray style ones will free up a ton of space, and make room for other things. Pliers are a hole other mess, and hard to organize no matter what.

  • @smitty2jones
    @smitty2jones 5 лет назад +1

    I've had an Extreme Tools box for a few years now. A nice tidbit about the locks, is that the latches on the back of the drawer are spring loaded so you can just snap them closed if it's locked.
    By comparison, if you have a Snap On box, when you leave one unlocked, you have to slam it shut. When you slam it shut, it pushes up the locking bar in the back of the box. This means if you leave one drawer unlocked by mistake, you've actually left the whole box unlocked.
    My only complaint is that the drawers are just a *little* bit different width vs the tool trucks, which seem to be more of a standard, so it took some creative organization at first.

    • @smitty2jones
      @smitty2jones 4 года назад

      @Flat Bastard Engineering Channel I believe so. Mine's the 30" deep version, and it doesn't have the griplatch style latches. That's a new feature since I bought mine. It's also a different layout. But just looking online, the Extreme 25" box looks just like this one, same layout and same latches.

  • @lynyrd583
    @lynyrd583 5 лет назад +2

    Great box.
    Yes one Side Locker would help dramatically. Until then, designate your Husky toolbox for Carpentry/Woodworking/Contractor type use. If that doesn't move enough over, possibly include Home Electrical and Plumbing. As an example, you have enough duplicates of screwdrivers to decide what tools you use primarily for automotive and for general use.
    Yes this will split up your Cordless tools, but that's a good thing to free up space. No need to keep a Jig Saw in your Automotive box. As well you might even consider centralizing your Milwaukee Box and keep your Cordless and Charging tools there.
    Screwdrivers should be in the top chest, lighter, easy to grab. Also I separate Metric and SAE Wrenches by drawer. You know if your going to use one or the other but separating by ratchet/non-ratchet isn't really a convenience decision.
    Too bad I'm not near by I could organize a couple hours...

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  5 лет назад

      My old box was separated by SAE and metric and it worked well, this one was so much larger I combined them and should not have. I will move the ratchets in metric up. Thank you.

    You definitely need to put some of your stuff on ebay. How many angle grinders? Like 10? Drills? Impacts? Keep 2-3, and you'll need much less toolboxes. I know, I also have several drills, but I have put on sale several of them to keep me more organized.

    i have an EX PROFESSIONAL bottom box from extreme tool box and that thing is built nice. i would put it up against a snap on 72" box any day of the week. i had a friend help me unload it at the house who had just bought a snap on 72" box and he was smacking himself in the head when he found out how much this thing was. if the gear wrench box is built by them it is a great box.. i do not care for the draw locks as mine uses de-tents i like that better then what this box has. i guess it is better then the snap on $12k box that uses plastic slides like they have

    From what I can tell, this is a high end "Extreme Tools" box costing $8k. The current version is black with red instead of Chrome. Extreme tools make similar boxes but they are not made as well. However they are much much cheaper $3k.

    Harbor freight wrench organizers. Work great. HF socket organizer my fav also.
    Any power tools not used often.. put them into a cabinet.
    Organize so that as you work you can put some things back. Ok.. done with prybar.. put back.
    It's about how you work also.
    I have a cart that I put what I am using at that time on it for the day or job. End of day.. take 20 min and put shit back.. prevents missing tools.

    Given how interchangeable drawer sizes are they should be giving you the option of customising it for that sticker price. Swapping two thin for a deep drawer is a couple of check marks on a job sheet. It’s always kept me away from these big boxes. I’ll buy 2 or 3 cheaper boxes I can swap drawers to my liking.

    What was the cost of this bad boy? I know one of you biggest gripes with the 52in Milwaukee was the price (not to mention you were soured by the HD experience), I'd assume this is in a category of its own with regards to pricing? From what I can find $7000+ thats 4-5 times that of the Milwaukee and 7-8 times that of the Husky.... This box appears to be more of a true Tool Box with real full extension draws unlike the Husky and Milwaukee, and have pro level depth and for a garage think its more appropriate. I have the Milwaukee and there are a few things I don't like but overall I like it even for the price. I'll agree the locking mechanism sucks and was poorly though out and would of rather a barrel key like my old tool box or at least the ability to take the key out when use it instead of the electronic lock.
