  • As you know all Navien NPE unites no matter the model come to the USA as natural gas and have to be field converted to propane or high-altitude natural gas. Navien provides both kits inside the unit on the right-hand side and give a very detailed instruction in the installers manual on how to do the conversion.
Once the conversion is done and the setup is complete on the unit it will operate very well. In the case of the building or property having natural gas supplied to it after the initial install the unit (NPE) MUST be converted back to its original state of natural gas.
The conversion would be the complete opposite of the original conversion to propane buy again I can't stress it enough IT MUST BE CONVERTED BACK.
If you followed my original video on the conversion and you leave the plastic bag with the original orifice in the unit you will have everything you need to do the steps required to do the conversion.
Take your time to do the conversion don't rush the steps and make sure you secure the 8 screws for the burner tube and flip the #1 dip switch to the prober setting.
    1off natural gas
    2 on propane.
the tool i use can be purchased at
    WWW.KCtool.com
I hope you enjoy the video,
    Mike

Great video! First time seeing a Navien and I like the fact they include some extra gaskets & O rings inside the unit unlike Rinnai & A.O. Smith which don’t. Thanks again for taking the time to train us techs!

Your videos ave been so helpful. I have an issue where water is coming in through the outdoor vent and dripping down into the unit. I thought I could just stick a 90 pvc elbow but it gives me code 12 for venting issues. How can I stop rain from blowing in the vent. ?

Hi Mike, I am thinking of adding a tankless next to my traditional water heater to take cold feed from the output of the traditional heater which may or may not output high temperature due to demand. I was told that some tankless systems are not designed to take in hot or semi-hot water to add more heat and some are. Which will be better for my situation Navien or Rennie? Thanks

Yea but what if the conversion kit BACK to NG is not there. I cant seem to find a kit for going back that is sold separatly.

Does a regulator "vent" need to be vented outdoors?
Or Just away from any heat sources?
