Cheers for another interesting video, Dylan. I took up viewing planets during the day, mainly Jupiter & Saturn, kind of by accident a few autumns back when I would be outside an hour before sunset looking to the SW waiting for them to pop into view. What's really cool is that if you exactly where to see them or if your GOTO is good enough, you can see them through the OTA way before you can see them with the naked eye during the day.
From looking at planets daytime I took to taking photos of them and also started to photo stars like Spica, Arcturus, etc that would be visibile in the sky just after dusk. They look awesome & surreal, magical, against a blue sky background. Very un Earth like images, which is where the magic is for me.
As well as havin g a good GOTO, Telrad, finderscope, etc, the most useful I've used in locating planets in a camera is a flip mirror. You can use the eyepiece as a kind of exteneded finder and then flip the mirror to, hopefully, see the planet centered in the FOV of the camera (video or still). A bit of daytime calibration / set-up makes it all work and, like anything else in our passion, the more we put into astronomy the more we get out.
Cheers, take care, clear skies, Simon

If a planet is in the morning sky like Venus (and technically Mars, but not for much longer) you can find it at dawn and simply follow it as it moves across the sky. I once watched the morning Venus as it set in the afternoon.

When my EQ6R's hand controller gave a huge warning about looking at the sun unfiltered I audibly laughed at how ridiculous it was that such a warning was needed. I way over estimated humanity. WEAR A MASK STUPID AND DONT LOOK AT THE SUN. (Someone should put that on a shirt)

Celestron allows you to align on the Sun, so problem solved.

  • @Wheeljack678

It's a shame you have to point out that staring at the sun through a telescope without proper filters is meant as sarcasm. This is something being heavily emphasized in every manual, booklet and instructional information whenever you buy as much as a pair of binoculars.
There are plenty of professional tutorials on how to properly observe/image the sun. A "What kind of astronomer are you?" humor video is clearly not one of them.

People didn't mistaken your sarcasm for instruction. They found it dangerous that you supposedly pointed your telescope towards the sun without putting some sort of warning just to be sure. Kids might be watching this.
