I just stumbled upon your channel recently and I would just like to say that it is extremely therapeutic to see old computer hardware receive deep cleaning and restored to like new! Subscribed!!!!
I love watching you restoring old gaming laptop, please restore more old gaming laptops, they just look so much complicated and different than modern laptop
I had this Asus Laptop, sold it to a friend 2 month ago. Still everything was functioning, screen was awesome, really nice colors. Thx for sharing the video!
Watching you gave me confidence to open up my 2009 XPS 1645 and re-do the thermal paste, which had baked itself to death. The old warrior is much happier now!
Yeah 720p at a higher frame rate would have been better. Windows 7 (or XP for older games) would have been better too; you can easily set up dual booting on a 1TB SSD.
Because of you i started restoring laptops yesterday my friend gived me acer aspire 5472 and it was overheating i changed thermal paste and instaled windows 8(because of hdd 5400rpm disk) and it was fast and running cool
I actually never seen an early ASUS ROG laptop before RUclips recommended this video to me! I can also tell by the keyboard layout and stickers that this was originally purchased in Taiwan.
Yesssss I really wanted to see laptop with core 2 quad I've never seen a laptop with 3 ram slots, that's amazing Hope you see much more of videos like that one Take care, bro
Thanks for video, it’s always nice to see a dedicated work. And the way you shoot is really good, every step is visible. I recently purchased the same model, but 16 inch (G60VX) and was bothered by GPU, not showing its load. I already started to think that gpu is damaged somehow. But with your video, I understood that it’s more like a “feature” of ASUS implementation 😂
Great work, it's like the laptop was almost dead and a surgeon gave new life for him! BTW: I tried for the first time to disassemble a laptop last week and I made it! Unfortunately, the laptop had major problems and repairing was too expensive, but I have another one waiting for disassembly. Your videos are really inspirational, thank you!
Just to tell you, your new intro is awesome. It is simple and great. Usually probably 99.9% of time, the laptop screen is so clean I start to really notice the fingerprints on my phone screen. Awesome video Andrew and keep up the good work!!👏👏👏😀
I want to completely clean my laptop like you. I have a Dell Inspiron 1564 which idles around 75-80 degrees. But this is the only laptop I have and I don't wanna break it.
I have the 2008 model and I really enjoyed it. Eventually the small screen that showed the battery status, temperatures, and a few other things stopped coming on. It was limited to 4gb DDR2. Yeah, the model you have is far greater than the one that I have, but it ran so well back in it's day.
🎶🎶 When I think about the way we used to be When I think about the things you took from me I know that I am so much better Better off When I look at what I've done, now that we're apart When I look at what I've won, I've come so far I know I'm so much better off and baby you don't belong
I love so much when the people restores their old equipment to give new life and reuse... would be great if some of the discard equipment will be donated for poor schools and kids on poor countries.
8:38 If you (or anyone watching) wanted to go a step further, you could use fine grit sand paper, or even possibly even just a fine polishing compound and a rotary tool and buff out those scratches completely. Much the same as plastic headlight restoration on a car is done. A coat of gloss / matte clear coat (depending on your preference, gloss if you are doing headlights) and it will look better then new. You can check out some automotive youtubers for the headlight restoration for more details.
I think that Andrew just need to replace the Neon backlight instead replacing the whole display, or salvage from the broken display with working backlight, anyway, as expected, satisfying video as usual
@@ComputersAndTechAndAndrew You deserve it. We all learn a lot from your videos. So, I suggest you make a video about how this marvelous professional work began, and where did your learning journey started?
@@ahmedshehatah1822 Thank youu bro :) btw that's good idea for the video, I have planned to do something like that but I wasn't sure is somebody interested for or not, it's going to be long story, because isn't all about repairing computers, I do repair other stuff also, but I will do a video
I chanced upon this video based on RUclips recommendation. Wow, I am utterly impressed by your handiwork. How do you learn the skills to tear down and restore laptops? It is so delicate. I have an old HP Pavilion laptop from 2008 which I will like to restore. But I have no idea how to go about doing it and what is needed.
Maybe a tip (but not for beginners) : Liquid metal instead the thermal paste. But careful to corrosion in case of irregular maintenance. A PC of this age could be fine with this.
Nice restoration! This would be a nice Windows XP or Windows 7 laptop for those older games, as some older games will only run on older operating systems, like Windows XP or Windows 7.

It's so freaking rare to have a Blu-ray drive on a laptop nowadars, so having one in 2009 was truly a novelty.
