I am one of what I am certain are hundreds of people who have experienced life-changing results after educating myself with Dr. Becky’s videos starting back in September 2019. The low carb , high fat eating info I have learned from her has become a way of life for me ,and I’m down 42 pounds with no plan to alter what I’m doing. Dr. Becky ,if you’re reading this I just want to thank you ! I was one of those people who always thought that low fat was the way to go ,and learning the truth was so eye-opening and liberating . I love the foods I eat . Truly , hunger is not an issue . Because of that I have willpower that people can’t comprehend. Ha ha. Once again thank you ,and may our Lord Jesus Christ continue to bless your efforts.

LOVE this video. I have eggs, nuts, yogurt, avocado, and chia seeds almost every day. I WISH I had salmon everyday. 😋 When I eat healthy fats at each meal, along with adequate protein, I definitely notice lower sugar cravings throughout the day. I recently made a yummy cob bowl last week with chicken, avocado, cheese, hard-boiled egg, grape tomatoes, bacon (I know....controversial but so yummy), peas, and edamame.

I have eaten more full fat yogurt, blueberries, cream, avocado, etc in the last 10 mo than in the last 10 yrs. Cut out sugar, cut down carbs with your plan as a guide. It's doable but is hard getting it into the mainstream unfortunately.

Dr. Becky I like the texture of greek yogurt, I consume Bulgarian Yogurt Probiotic with acidophilus, bulgaricus, thermophilus and bifidum it comes in a glass container and has 9 carbs per cub, what is your opinion should I stick to this one or switch to greek? I’m still learning how to count the daily amounts of carbs, I have lost 20 pounds. I cook everything fresh and natural, nothing processed.

I recently came back to Dr Becky's version of the high fat low carb eating for health and weight loss after following the whole food plant based diet vegan/nutritarian diet for several weeks (which includes high carb veggies and grains with little to no fat). I found I could not tolerate the high level of oxalates present in the array of vegetables and the recipes.Although the food was delicious I was exhausted all the time and it altered my T3 function and metabolism. Removing the high oxalate veggies left me with little selection for food to eat!! As soon as I returned to the consumption of eggs, occasional animal protein, and healthy high fats with low carbs my energy returned substantially back to normal. This was a powerful lesson for me to listen to my body and stop listening to the so called 'black and white' this is the best way to eat as nature intended, philosophy. I am glad it works for the people who have embraced the whole food plant based diet but it does not work for everybody. I would love to see a video addressing this very topic! However, I am beyond grateful for the wisdom of Dr Becky in not making me wrong for choosing high fat low carb way of eating. Thank you for your excellent educational videos and for straightening me out once again in my journey of eating healthy and for weight loss.

Best thing I discovered eating high fat, low carb...
One egg mixed with spinach, kale, or dandelion fried in coconut oil or butter, with a little melted cheese. Spread some mashed avocado mixed with garlic on top and a big spoonful of salsa on top of that. Makes a fantastic breakfast.

I love when people point out this distinction...unfortunately many people don't realize that eating walnuts and chia seeds alone likely isn't cutting it for a better omega-3 to omega-6 ratio in their diet.

@@drmorgannolte And I find it weird that many say that one cannot be vegan/vegetarian and eat keto. It's about knowledge and creativity, and as someone educated within this field, they should know about the options, and not only the "standard" ones. I always buy full-fat to add to a protein smoothie once per day however I'm not sure if the amount of sugar is okay and that is my question? Hello Dr. Becky,
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Hypothyroidism when I was 12 now I’m 52. At 12 my endocrinologist put me on radioactive iodine to kill my over grown goiter & on Synthroid. Im not sure how long I was on but it was less than a year. I don’t know what iodine killed off my goiter or my thyroid but I’ve been on synthroid ever since. Any it’s been a crazy journey but I’m just now really learning about inflammation & what foods I can & cannot eat... my weight is 230🙄 so I’ve tried keto before and I did lose weight but then I got off and gained more than I lost. Since the health risk are worse do you think people with my condition would benefit from a lap-ban or some kind of stomach surgery to lose weight because it feels like it will take too long to lose weight and other illnesses could accrue due to my obesity??? What would you do? Thank you🤗

"Many people want to eat quinoa on low carb or keto diets due to its rich nutrient profile (5Trusted Source).
However, serving size is key. If you’re planning on including this grain in your keto or low carb diet, you should only do so sparsely - not in full-sized portions.
For instance, on a strict keto diet that limits your carb intake to 20 grams per day, one full 3.5-ounce (100-gram) serving of quinoa exceeds your carb allowance because it boasts over 21 grams of carbs (4Trusted Source, 6Trusted Source, 10Trusted Source).
Even on a more relaxed keto diet that permits up to 50 grams daily, you would still have to carefully restrict all other carbs and stick to foods denser in protein and fat the rest of the day (4Trusted Source, 6Trusted Source, 10Trusted Source).
Although some low carb diets are less stringent and allow for more carbs, you should only eat very small portions of quinoa on low carb or keto diets - if at all.
For instance, you could sprinkle a spoonful on a salad or stew. This way, you could still enjoy quinoa’s signature crunch and nutty flavor without exceeding your carb allotment."

Dr Becky I seem to have a sensitivity to eggs. I get a tingly swollen tongue and puffy red and blotchy face if I have eggs more than one day in a row. Is this serious? I hope it's not because I love eggs, particularly boiled eggs because they are so satisfying and work well for keeping me feeling full. If I need to go easy on the eggs what's a good replacement?

I just ate three eggs and a full avocado. I'm down 25 lbs and I'm so happy. I've lost a little bit of muscle with that, but that's fine. I LOVE avocados, but 1. they're very expensive and 2. when you get them in your house, you've got about 4 days to eat them. If you don't, they're going to be spoiled. Eggs last a long time. Which is why I've also ordered chickens!

Dr. Gallespy, I’m 72 and what concerns me the most is not getting enough calcium and VitD3. How do you possible get enough of those without pumping tons of supplements or milk in, which my body can handle?

You're awesome, as usual. All of your point-on guidance has helped me stay happy and healthy during this rather challenging time. AND I haven't gained any weight. But I think that may be because of a slightly diminished amount of muscle since not being able to workout like I used to, but I do the best I can. And with your guidance, that's fine by me. Thanks.

What about the difference between wild and farmed salmon? Many are against farmed salmon.

I've mentioned this in other videos, but I guess not this one. I purchase wild-caught.

Hi, I'm very confused. I started IF and try to keep to a keto diet. My endocrinologist said that my cholesterol is slightly high and due to family history he said I should not be on keto and I should not be fasting from 8am, he said that I should have a large breakfast and then fast. I cannot fast this way, once I start eating I can't stop. I'm so confused.

Confusion is really common when starting any new lifestyle change so don't be too hard on yourself. Keto is not an easy diet to do well, it does take some education to ensure you are getting enough protein and fiber. Also realize that many doctors have trained themselves in nutrition, they get very little of it in school so unless they have gone above and beyond to be informed and up-to-date, unfortunately many doctors may give outdated or incomplete advice (my own OBGYN included!). It's hard to specifically answer this question without knowing your medical history. Have you read the Obesity Code or Diabetes Code by Dr. Jason Fung? They are excellent resources.

Doctors have to get educated on keto diet because this is new they didnt study this in med school they are afraid to put you on this diet and if you got a heart attack they would have a law suit
