Homeworld forever! Games today don't have any depth in them like Homeworld did. I will simply play these games forever, I love them. First time I played Homeworld I was only 9 years old, I loved it back then. Now I'm 18 and I still love it!
I'm cautiously optimistic. If it wasn't for the fact that it's made by some of the same people that worked at Relic I wouldn't expect anything more than shameless, grave robbing shovelware that they bait people into buying by using beloved titles.
I've neer seen cinematics, which shows a character of Turanic Raiders. As I know TR's have homeworld in the outer rim. But, In the one cinematics in the cataclysm, we can see a shadow of saboteur, which looking like a human, but I'm not sure.
@routhoula From what I understand, and that isn't much, everyone is human. At some point in the distant past the progenitors (also human) colonized the galaxy then some cataclysm lead to there destruction and all the people through out the galaxy were isolated. They developed there own civilizations and myths and legends grew up about the past. Then the first core was discovered and the universe was opened up again.
Well, this idea is pretty old. Ghost in the Shell, then Matrix was the first story to have this idea especialy (no I'm not doing cheap generalisation) Matrix in particular, the production just pretexted the machine used human as "power source" because they tough it was easier to understand for "morron" (you know, the type who couldn't understand the 1st Matrix as it is know.)
Thematically, though, Homeworld 1 uses elements of BSG. The way I've heard it described is the BSG fleet wanders into the Star Wars galaxy just before Alderran gets blown up.
Bentusi don't look human at all, watch the cataclysm cinematic after the mission where you stop them from escaping into another galaxy. While the other three are shown in the cinematics as humans or at least as humanoids. Who knows how they look on the inside! :)
During the Homeworld credits there are some concept art drawings that look like some non-human creatures, though I don't suppose they're actually suppose to represent an intelligent race.
@routhoula The Bentusi are certainly not humans. There's a cinematic in Cataclysm where they appear as squid heads, probably humanoids connected to their ships with series of ports. The others I agree are humans, just look at the cinematics: Karan ( Hiigaran) is human, Makaan (Vagyr) is human and in Cataclysm when they show the Taiidani who is being interrogated he also appears human.
@typhooni8 Internet? I have doubts in finding a copy of HW1 in a store since its over 10 years old, but you might be lucky to find a copy of HW2 in a bargain bin somewhere...
@ojeone Sure the Total war engine is great.. and the mod community for TW is great. However TW can't match HW's depth... the backstory is just amazing and you feel immerse yourself with the exile's struggle.
Massive 5000 member homeworld community on facebook just search wewanthomeworld3 in fb search And you may get to talk to original homeworld devs when they are on the group.
well i only payed for 3 month and since then i have been able to play it free with the ingame item that extend you game time, but ofc it's up to you. =) have fun m8
@typhooni8 The graphics and general gameplay is better and more streamline but the story is not as good as Homeworld 1. I also wish that the ship balancing was better and that they kept the physics based hit system.
Also, they should have kept the events of Cataclysm (now Emergence) on the spotlight. Really weird not seeing the Kiith Somtaaw fight the Vaygr to a standstill.
iv play eve found it to suck becuse people are allowed to stab you in the back and admins are corrupted Earth & beyond was a great game but killed by the Foolish EA Homeworld 1, cat, 2, best RTS ever made when i think space i think this game soloy becuse its so epic id like to see a Homeworld MMO be it mmorts or mmorpg where control one ship just to be in this universe would be epic to explore those massive space hulks those progenitor hulks would be a dream
i must disagree with you about eve online i think it's one of the best games out there, as for people are allowed to stab you in the back "it's only if you don't enough attention" because it's a very realistic game.. and the admins allow that game play to continue because it's what makes Eve online a sand box .. but i agree on that i also would like to see home world company make another game. just stating my opinion =) have fun with which ever game you choose to play. o7

Dear god, Relic, you were so damn good at this!! sniff
The narration is top notch, it fits the animation PERFECT. This game has such soulfull cutscenes.
"This is Fleet Command" shivers! haha
Best intro to a game ever! best sound track to game ever! best game ever!!!!
Game's flaws aside, love how Deserts of Kharak replicated the desert scenes via Rachel S'jet's Baserunner.
What an Intro...what a Game ....!!!!!
yes, this game will be played forever and ever for memories
Cinematic quality this is great.
that mans voice is amazing.
Why the hell isn't there a movie of this game. THIS is the ONLY fucking game that truly deserves a movie.
Such nostalgia.
This game is so incredibly atmospheric, detailed and has unparalleled gameplay.
I wish they would make a homeworld 3.
Good news, mate! :D
I'm cautiously optimistic.

The Narrator is the same one from Gundam Wing. He's also the Hybrid in the BSG 'Razor' film.
Also, he's Rampage from Beast Wars: Transformers.
I thought that Sierra wanted to make a game based off of BSG, but the request was denied, so they went off and did a thing from scratch, homeworld 1.

"this is fleet command" HELL YEAH
epic stuff

Man, you look at this and its kinda hard to tell the difference between Homeworld and a movie.
During the Homeworld credits there are some concept art drawings that look like some non-human creatures, though I don't suppose they're actually suppose to represent an intelligent race.
Haha, I love your analysis!
@routhoula

To my knowledge (I'd have to look this up) Homeworld 2 predates the re imagined Battlestar galactica, unless the hybrids were in TOS BSG.
battlecruiser opertional
Oh wow, I'll check it out. :D
I doubt anyones name is going to be Karen in the future
the bentusi have tentacles in theyr face, must e the only non-human descendant in this game
@Rattlepiece Same here man. The only problem, is that I no longer have anything to play it on... :(
the truanic raiders are they require siuts that carry thier atmosphere
i d say that its the best RTS since. what i like about it is that you dont have to remake the base over and over again
hw2 has some great cutscenes and awesome graphics but nothing can beat hw's original story
Also, Cataclysm's/Emergence's, with Deserts of Kharak in tow.
@Kallen2121 sierra was only the publisher. relic did the game
@jonharana
drat, well so much for a hardcopy, why are all the goodies oldies?
what ever happened to the taiidan republic in this game anyway? i never got that part
@Rattlepiece I played HW first time when I was 13. Now i'm 25 and still havn't seen better strategy game :)
@routhoula
the turanic raiders?
i can tell you games that stretches as far back as to the C64 or Amiga 500 were equally stunning.
@typhooni8 Internet? I have doubts in finding a copy of HW1 in a store since its over 10 years old, but you might be lucky to find a copy of HW2 in a bargain bin somewhere...
@jonharana
any idea where i can find either of them?
@ojeone Sure the Total war engine is great.. and the mod community for TW is great. However TW can't match HW's depth... the backstory is just amazing and you feel immerse yourself with the exile's struggle.
Massive 5000 member homeworld community on facebook just search wewanthomeworld3 in fb search
And you may get to talk to original homeworld devs when they are on the group.
Seeing as Gearbox owns the copyright, I *know* I don't want to see another Homeworld until someone else than Randy Pitchford holds the IP.
@gurgurud
darn, not there, but thanks anyways
well i only payed for 3 month and since then i have been able to play it free with the ingame item that extend you game time, but ofc it's up to you. =) have fun m8

I think no game depath better than HW,but it stop at HW2

but i agree on that i also would like to see home world company make another game.
just stating my opinion =)
have fun with which ever game you choose to play. o7
I would but I don't have the time or money for the monthly fee, sorry to say. :(
homeworld 2? so it's another game? sorry, i don't know much about this game.... is the second one better?
Unfortunately, not really.
try eve online and you'll get that feeling back
@typhooni8 try GOG.com
i guess they didnt really plan making the sequel. that's why storyline in hw2 kinda sucked
Epic fail. The concept is an extremely generic one, not to mention the fact that Homeworld 1 predates the BGS remake.
